"It's the punctuation mark in a strategy of eliminating movement options from your opponent." - One of the most profound things I've ever heard on KZbin.

This video is so good that 8 years later it’s probably one of the best I’ve seen about arm locks

yes. Good idea the slow motion. No lost of time with useless introductions. It's even aesthetic with its white and black images and the music. And old that for free.

one thing i like about this guy is he keeps it real and represents the aiki/japanese jujitsu side as well. its a very effective method yet due to the majority of teachers being worthless turds it gets dismissed as ineffective. keep up the good work Roy! Much respect!

I highly recommend to anyone interested in any of the jujutsu-based arts (Aikido, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Japanese jujutsu, Judo) that they get White Belt Bible. I threw it in the player and could not stop watching. It is truly amazing. Do not let the title fool you, it is for everyone.
@SemperCallide4 жыл бұрын
I find this way more useful than 90% of BJJ videos. Because I can find exactly where I'm at and see the next steps to work on something different. More white-belt-to-back-belt progressions please!
@shaunnicholson53899 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing Roy. As an ex-Aikido person myself I love BJJ and you have a nice grace about you which has flowed into your BJJ.

Excellent video. I love these options especially learning how to roll under after getting stacked. As a lower belt I've found myself in that position and had no choice but to release the lock and get passed.

His instruction and teaching is second to none in BJJ. A true master is not a martial artist who can just fight but also teach it at it's most basic AND most sophisticated level. He can hurt and heal you through his art. Beautiful. I love his dvd's because they are the few dvd's i have actually learned from and taken directly from. A welcome relief from the wanna be neo-warriors of bad haircuts, bad tattoos, and pseudo tough guy attitudes. PURE EXCELLENCE!

I have always been taught (by at least 3 different BJJ instructors) that when you are going for the perpendicular arm bar, you need to maintain control of the arm that you want to attack. I have always had a difficult time executing this technique with this rule. This video introduces a simple, yet brilliant point. Place your hands on your opponents chest to "push yourself up AND THEN (once you are in position) execute the arm bar. Awesome!

"....as your belt darkens....." hahaha
@hyungtaecf4 жыл бұрын
Actually, it is the real history of the colored belts. In Asia, they used to have just one belt. They started with the white belt and because of the dirt of training often and never washing that belt, it darkens. So they knew the experience of martial artists from how dark the belt was.
