One fun piece of trivia is that some F-Tilts in 64 and Melee have 5 angles instead of 3, with slight-up and slight-down angles. In Melee Falco, Falcon, Fox, Ganon, ICs, Ness, Samus, Yoshi, and Zelda have 5 F-tilts. The coordinates for the in-between angles is (±0.95, ±0.2875)

I feel like pikachus ftilt is so much higher on the tierlist; it has such great priority to compensate for its low range, and it lingers for so long too. You never see any ftilt used to edge-guard firefox without trading as consistently as you can with pikachu ftilt, and it can be used to stuff approaches pretty effectively in neutral. It has so much better utility than nesses one for example, and you put them in the same tier.

agreed. i almost never use pika's ftilt for edgeguard or poke compared to using it for stuffing approaches. comes out at frame 5, covers his hurtbox in front of him throughout the animation and the hitbox lingers for ages. ness ftilt deals +3% dmg but comes out 2 frames later, hitbox lasts half the length (5 vs 10), FAF is 5 frames longer and is less adequate at protecting him bc of the difference in animation. they are very different moves

If jigs as a character was a f tilt it would be sheik f tilt. As a crucial part of her kill confirms that that takes away brain cell usage in high pressure situations,, it's a huge metal advantage in a character

Love those. Smashes next ? Throws ? Doc/Luigi ftilt knocking down (esp. Luigi with movement making it combo into itself) feels way more like 'new power-up unlocked' than Mario's. Also, Pika does get a lot out of it vs spacies on edgeguards, with really good disjoint. I guess it's poking / get-off-me usage is a little riskier though.

What's funny is my experience with pichu has always led me to feel his f-tilt was great. It was the perfect, "yeah that's not punishable" attack in his arsenal. So many times I'd use it just to push someone's shield away to prevent shield grab, or interrupt their actions, or shield poke, or perfectly block opponents quick options to the ledge without hard committing. To me it was a jab directly at an opponent's feet but you could get so much off of it if it did hit. That said I'm not the best player and it wasn't like I was playing ranked, I'm sure there's a lot of unfamiliarity fueling a lot of my pichu success.

@@arJunebugSmash Lol no doubt, thanks June! I think it's largely people not expecting it, and pichu not really having a lot of good moves to compete with it by comparison. Still that sneaky little foot does some unique work. It's bad on paper but in practice, I don't know something's different about it. I can't play Pikachu at all but pichu, it just clicks for me. And that f tilt is a big part of it for some reason, it just adds to the fun janky poke potential of the character.

Yeah yoshi ftilt is amazing. It's not perfect, it can be punished in some case, it might have good range but it has no priority or disjoint so it won't win exchange for you, and yoshi's mobility on the ground stops him from using the full potential of this move. But overall it is stupidly good and if yoshi had a similar move in the air he would be absolutely broken.

Before watching my guesses for top 5 are: 1) Sheik (come on, it's Sheik we all know it's her) 2) Marth (range's too good, Marth doesn't use it more because his kit is just too good) 3) Yoshi ( the unexpected choice, great for combos and it has very good frame data, angles, and decent range) 4) Samus (great range, fast startup, not the greatest frame data but decent among ftilts) 5) Pikachu (the controversial pick, over Ganon's and Falcon's range and stength, and over the Mario Bros and spacies' all around great ftilts. Look at Pika's disjoint and how active it is!!!! That and angles??? Let's see if Junebug agrees.... EDIT: Ok maybe Pikachu was a little TOO controversial XDDD

Yeah, I'd put Falcon's f-tilt higher by maybe 1 tier. Look, it's not the best, but one factor to consider is how it integrates with the rest of his kit. Falcon's f-tilt isn't just a long-range poke, it's also a combo extension tool--you can see n0ne use it pretty frequently after a low-percent up-air scoop, or as an extra edgeguard option against Marth's up-b by using a 1st-hit nair -> down-angled f-tilt.
