I can't help but feel as if the green ones are always the happiest in 40k. Nurgle alligned chaos are one happy, grotesque family, the salamanders get to talk to their families and the orks? Well, they're literally in their idea of heaven! Green is clearly da best colour in 40k.

I think my favourite thing about Celestine in 40K is that she can be seen as the a good hero but she is doomed to fail forever in the 40k universe (currently). that's what's grime dark about her, she is always doomed to suffer and then she still inevitably never really moves the needle. or she never moves it enough to truly matter

53:00 You ever consider that the Emperor, who weaponized the warp to make primarchs, warp travel, etc. took a person and is intentionally keeping them in the middle of the ascension process to becoming a greater demon? That makes her equal parts demon and human. I forgot which book it's in, but it's established that Celestine was the endgame for Emperor's goal. To ascend humans to a middleground that's capable of dominating both realities. The primarchs were supposedly attempt 1, and Ephrael Stern was attempt 2. Btw Ephrael Stern iwent through the same process that the Emperor went through to turn into the Emperor, minus the chaos gate to become super powered. So technically there's a female Emperor just walking around.

Hyped when the Vashtorr episode comes around next week. I have a personal crackpot theory about him and the other new prospective gods (Big E, Ynnead, and T’au’va) all ascending and becoming an “order” pantheon to counter the chaos gods, since WH Fantasy had order gods as well, and it’d be a fun shift to the status quo of the setting. Each of them work really well as counterpoints for the chaos gods too, Big E is clearly a reflection of Khorne, Ynnead as a death god would be a good reflection to Nurgle (ignoring the Eldar ties to Slaanesh for a second), Vashtorr would be a good reflection to Tzeench since they’re both about creation, but Vashtorr is innovation with structure instead of constant change and mutation, and T’au’va is a good mirror to Slaanesh as a god who cares about love and happiness, but not in excess and applied compassionately rather than sadistically. If AOS could add a fifth chaos god with the Great Horned Rat, 40k can add a handful of new gods

Just so you know Isyander you could totally build a deck in mtg (especially mono white) that would make Celestine, The Living Saint's ability straight busted. I'd recommend a True Conviction and cards that stack trigger abilities like Strionic Resonator. Do that and you could just martyr swathes of creatures in suicide charges at your opponent only for them to be resurrected at the end of your turn. Heck run a Solemnity and Phyrexian Unlife and make both you and your creatures immortal champions of the God Enperors light.

My current understanding of Saint Celestine is that she never uses an avatar nor has any need for one; she materializes within real-space on a suitable world once she's done sorting herself out in the Warp. Not all Imperial Saints do this. For example - After Saint Sabbat reincarnates within a willing and suitable, young human female, I argue that she is closer in concept to a daemonhost. The incarnated Sabbat does seem to retain the memories and emotions of the person she takes over but I feel that there is strong evidence that original soul of the host is subsumed when Sabbat's soul inrushes to occupy the new avatar.

My theory on why Celestine can stick in reality unlike most daemons is that her God - Big E - is physically in reality. None of the chaos gods are. So her "anchor" is in reality, rather than the warp.
