It's been a few days, and I've read a lot of comments. So here is my usual post-release FAQ! *Q1:* "Does Victor/Gloria dethrone Elio/Selene in the Lore Method if we include the events of Crown Tundra?" *A1:* Not as long as Elio/Selene has access to Ultra Necrozma. The strongest legendary caught in the Crown Tundra storyline is regular Necrozma, ironically enough. Ultra Necrozma is unavailable in the game, because it requires a fusion between Necrozma and Solgaleo or Lunala, plus an extra burst of Ultra Necrozma's original energy by use of the Z Power Ring and crystals. That means that even with a generous estimate, Victor/Gloria's strongest legendary is still only _half_ as powerful as Elio/Selene's strongest legendary- at best! ...Yikes! Ultra Necrozma can probably bench their whole party by itself! ...Thanks, Lillie! *Q2:* "Is the outcome of the Red battle definitive in Ethan/Lyra's favor?" *A2:* For our purposes, yes. Defeating Red causes the credits to roll and the game to end, indicating that it is a definitive part of the narrative. If you go back to the mountain post-game, he's gone. It's true that you can technically _lose_ to Red, but doing so just results in a black out. You wake back up in the Pokemon Center and get to try again as many times as needed. It's no different than losing any other battle, again indicating that victory is the intended outcome. *Q3:* "Is Ultra Necrozma more powerful than Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina?" *A3:* No, but none of those Pokémon are canonically captured by a protagonist, so they were not included in this analysis. *Q4:* "Lucas/Dawn _does_ canonically defeat Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina in their game, don't they? Shouldn't that make them the strongest in the Lore Method?" *A4:* Not necessarily. You have the option of Capturing, Fighting, or Running from those Pokémon, and you even get a unique branch of dialogue for each option, indicating that Running _is_ a legitimate conclusion to the confrontation. Surrounding discussion also indicates that Lucas/Dawn was only attempting to quell the Pokémon rather than overpower it outright, which makes much more sense when you think about it. Otherwise, you're suggesting that these kids trained a team of ordinary Sinnoh Pokémon, who can only destroy mountains at best, to hit so hard that they could literally crack the universe in half. We don't really have any supplemental evidence for that level of absurd power growth. It's unlikely any of the Creation Trio were using the full extent of their abilities in that battle. *Q5:* "What is considered 'canonical' for the sake of this video?" *A5:* Anything that results in additional narrative that would have otherwise been left unaddressed. Take the Cynthia battle in Black/White for example. You don't really _need_ to defeat her to complete the game, but there are tiny bits of exposition that can't be unlocked unless you _do._ Ultimately, we decided anything that unlocks additional narrative should be considered canon to the events of the game in order to honor Game Freak's desire to world build. Things that do not unlock narrative and instead just result in an achievement or one of many possible dialogue branches were considered canonically ambiguous. This also lines up with Red's portrayal in the Johto games, as his team reflects a Pokémon Yellow run that finished the non-mandatory narratives surrounding Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, and Lapras. Similarly, events in Black 2/White 2 suggest that the non-mandatory post-game quests from Black/White were _also_ completed. Despite the above mentioned, we did not consider the narratives unlocked by Event Pokémon and the "Complete Pokédex" side quest to be canon, as they contradict too much of the overall series lore. Surrounding canon is very adamant about the fact that certain mythical Pokémon are still in the wild and nobody has ever captured all of them. Adding to this answer: It also has been stated by Cyrus that catching the legendary Pokemon (Dialga, Palkia and Giratina) surpresses their power and only the Red Chain makes it possible to control them without losing access their reality warping qualities. So even if they were canonically caught, there is a chance that Necrozma still has most of it's power and could beat them "lore-wise". It's open for interpretation, but this could create a situation at which the dimension trio is just too limited by being used by a trainer and Necrozma is not bound by such law (as far as we know).

To be fair, Cosmoem also just kinda floats anyway, so it's weight is kinda negated by it's own powers keeping it afloat, so Ash is more likely just moving something that is floating as if it's weightless. Seriously, that thing was a BEAST, hands down the strongest Pokemon I've trained (or at least it feels like it in hindsight). I legit don't know why it became so strong, maybe by some miracle I accidentally EV trained it (I remember level grinding at some weird routes just for fun) but at the end of it all, that thing became pretty unstoppable. Palkia does the same with all of space itself, and Giratina, depending on who you ask, does the same with either antimatter or gravity. They don't just "destroy" solar systems. They create and destroy the very aspects of reality that allow them to EVEN EXIST as they please.

It doesn't matter how powerful you are, or how many planets you can blow up simultaneously. You, as an object in space-time, are ultimately, and irrevocably, at the whim of the very being that created space-time, including all the matter, energy, and phenomena that created you. So yes, if a gen 4 remake comes out that canonically says you caught Arceus, or any of the creation trio for that matter, there's little room for argument... Unless of course they insert an explanation along the lines of saying that they are holding back their power, they don't really obey you so much as they just follow you around, or that you only capture an aspect of their essence, rather than their full power.

Y'know, when I was older I kind of figured something out Cynthia's weakness. That lead Spiritomb with no weakness, also sucks at offense and makes good setup fodder to sweep the rest of her team with. I think Kukui is a bit underrated in the strategy department. He packs a team full of bruisers, but with viable competitive support moves like a speedy stealth rock lead, tailwind, and screens. Unfortunately for him, he exists in the same timeline as broken xp shares, so you don't have to grind much. Another huge point for Gold/Lyra. There's an event programmed into game that involves them having Arceus to create their own god of time/space/antimatter. Also, they can get both of the mascot birds.

I honestly felt that the Gen 4 end game was one of the most challenging/competitive. I can remember struggling with Cynthia and Barry’s jumped up levels, but I also remember gettin hard stomped in the Battle Tower, both Pearl and HG. Awesome work, That's one question I've asked myself about a lot a times. I've come up with another possible solution: the strenght of the foes we face as protagonists. Evil teams could be jugded in 2 topics: coordenation and level of threat (which then consider the legendaries regardless of being captured or not, but simply by what those legendaries could do if manipulated by the evil team). Coordination stands for how well organized and fortified those teams are, how much influence they have on their regions, how much they are able to control, and how much they (or at least their leaders) understand the consequences of their actions (so regretting is out of table), etc. For coordenation, teams like Rocket (Kanto is top of the list, but Johto as well in some degree). Galactic, Flare and Plasma are good (Plasma had just a few dumbs who actually believed N's words, when the real goal was that of Ghetsis, to simply control the region without trainers to oppose them). Skull and Yell, on the other hand, are terrible. Macro Cosmos also does not perform well, even though they were very powerful in Galar. In level of threat, Galactic and Aether Foundation are way high on the list (with Magma/Aqua being high too, just not that high) thanks to their goals into controlling fucking GODS. Again, Team Yell really sucks at this comparison, with Teams like Rocket and Plasma being more of local threats with potential to grow. You can cross those ideas with the few lore "strenght facts" given in the games, like Johto's protagonists beating Johto and Kanto and Red, while Professor Kukui (the best Alola had at the time) couldn't beat Lance for instance (which in another words tranlaste as gen7' protagonists not having such a hard time to be champions), etc My final list would be (considering both lore and criteria): Lucas/Dawn>>Brendan/May>Elio/Selene>>>Ethan/Lyra>Red>>>>>>>>Serena/Callem>>Hilda/Hilbert>Rosa/Nate>>>Gloria/Victor

Easy it’s Red. When Blue was champion he stated that being Kanto champion =being the most powerful trainer in the world Red is the kanto champion and any “lost” Red has ever had has been through non canon post game. Ye. Edit the GSC battle did happen but the conclusion to that battle is odd. GF helped write the script for Pokémon masters and Lyra in that game stated that she actually lost her battle against Red so who knows.

The conclusion to the GSC battle is definitive. Winning the battle causes the credits to roll, and Red disappears from the mountain if climbed again in post-game. Losing the battle simply causes you to reawaken in the Pokemon Center before challenging him again like literally any other battle in the game. Random fluff text from the English version of Pokemon Masters is significantly less canon by comparison, there's no evidence that Game Freak helped write that line, and that entire story takes place in a different continuity. I have nothing at all against Red, but as Grimsley would say, a loss is a loss. The character should not receive special protection just because he is the original and most recognized protagonist.

10:10 Just an observation I noticed here, when fighting Mustard in the Isle of Armor post story, he mentions “Let’s see who can gain some EXP. Points!” This kinda implies that levels are more so common knowledge than we think they are, since Mustard directly calls it out.
