Part 2 - • Who were the Last Maur...
The history of the Mauryan Empire after the death of Ashoka is shrouded in mystery. This was the period of the decline of the Mauryan Empire. In this video, I try to construct the history of the Mauryan Empire based on the limited sources we have. This is the first part of the video, where we talk about the Mauryan King who came to the throne after the death of Ashoka. The Mauryan Empire as we will see in the video was partitioned after the death of Ashoka. The Western half of the Empire came under the rule of Kunala and the western half came under the control of Dashratha.
My main source for this video was Romila Thapar's "Aśoka and the decline of the Mauryas". The theory of the division of the Mauryan Empire is provided in this book. Apart from this, I have also used K. A Nilakanta Sastri's Age of the Nandas and Mauryas.

Mauryan don't disappeared but mostly changed themselves to other sirname even a mori king of chitoghad so basically what written vs what practiced history they transformed into m modern rajputs like mauryan marrying kach/kuch/kushwaha rajputs and have some relationship with sisodiya too so alot of written history is is also bs by ancient writer too.

Bro, Vedic religion went thru tremendous transformation itself or one can say a new religious packaging emerged. I don't know how you put a blind eye to major historical developments and philosophical and cultural evolution that India has gone through

By the way, you forgot to mention that in the short space of four years he succeeded in reducing the whole of Northern India, from the mountains of Kashmir to the banks of the Narbadda, and from the mouth of the Indus to the Bay of Bengal ; and India, perhaps for the first time, was brought under the control of one vigorous and consolidated government that's why he is the "Asoka the Great".

But if Ajivika was not mentioned then why Bindusara was mentioned he too was a Ajivika follower
@JayVardhanSingh

There's a difference between the two. We do not have any inscriptional evidence to support that Bindusara was a follower of the Ajivika sect. Historian have speculated that he might be the follower of Ajivikas. But when it comes to Dashratha, we have his inscriptions which clears talk about the Ajivika Sect. Secondly, even if Bindusara was a follower of Ajivika. The Buddhist texts couldn't ignore him because he was the father of Ashoka. And as you know, Ashoka, is revered in the Buddhist text.

Is chanakya a real historical figure?

Yes, most likely he did exist.

@@JayVardhanSingh non of the buddist sources mentioned him. Megasthenes too didn't mentioned him in his Indika. No inscription has his name. Brahmanical source say he only knew only Sanskrit and devnagri script which is not possible as devnagri script exist in that time has no evidences.

It is true that there are no inscriptions which talk about Chanakya, but that is true of other historical personality as well. With regard to the textual evidence. There are Buddhist Sources which talk about him. Mahavamsa which is pali text talk about Chanakya. Then there is a text called Abhayagirivihara, which is a chronicle compiled by Buddhist monks of Uttaravihara, here also we find the mention of Chanakya. Jaina Sources particularly in the Shvatambara canon you can find number of works which talk about Chanakya. Parishishtaparvan is a popular text which comes to my mind. And about Brahmanical sources, I don't know any text which tells us that he knew Devanagri script and Sankrit. We have two Sankrit text, Somadeva's Kathasaritasagara and Kshemendra's Brihatkathamanjari in which the story of Chanakya is told. But most importantly there is a play called Mudrarakshasa of Vishakadatta which deals with the story of Chanakya. About Megasthenes's Indica, you would know that we only have some segments of the text. The complete text is now lost. All this suggest that he probably existed.
