Wish you a happy time in Thailand Darren I’m going to be 70 on Sunday after 20 years living and working in London I took redundancy and moved to. Gdynia Poland 8 years ago can honestly say one of the best decisions in my lifetime: Only cautionary note is for my first 6 months I treated every day as if I was on holiday had disposable income and free time ; My wife gave me challenges to invest my cash fortunately a couple of property deals came good Only downside for me is struggle with Polish Language also have paid a small fortune for Private Health due to Heart & Lung issues We are here for a good time not a long time ❤

The only problem in my experience is that people who leave London and come back find it difficult to accept the inevitable changes that have taken place while they were away. If you remain in a place you don’t notice the changes so much, and London is constantly changing.

You make it sound so black and white. He will still have a relationship with his children, family, friends etc. so it's not a case of cutting all ties and starting again. I live on the other side of the world to my parents but we spend more quality time together now than we did before the move. It's all about the effort you're willing to make to ensure it works.

You’re right, better to know for sure that it wasn’t meant to be than to always wonder if you’ve passed up a life changing opportunity. I’m retiring in February and once I’ve ti 8:19 ed up all the loose ends here, I’m on my way to Thailand too. The quality of life Thailand offers is beyond anything that most could afford in the UK now.

Long time Thailand traveller, Thailand is addictive, less big brother, more freedom. You're at an ideal time of your life to give it a try, just be mindful not to burn all you're bridges back home. On the flipside Thailand can be all consuming too, seen friends loose their focus and get financially ruined along the way, dont be too trusting especially if other expats. If you can avoid these pitfalls you will have a great time, just be aware to leve the country every 180 days otherwise you could end up paying local tax on all your income worldwide. Best of luck

Same feeling for me 22 years ago. Met a Thai girl and she came to the UK and has been here 20 years. We are both wanting to to live in Thailand now and are taking the steps to do so. Unfortunately we are to separate but we have a 13 year old son and we still get on very well. Life changes and time flies by. Go for it, just keep your whits about you. I fly out again two weeks today 🙂

Darren - I've been in Thailand for almost 25 years and am about the same age as you. There is no reason why it cannot work out for you, the world is a smaller place now, it's easier to live overseas than before, you don't even have to pay for calls home. You're a likeable, respectable bloke with his head screwed on, you will be fine. My only advice is keep active (which you will with your YT channel anyway and bike rides) and do NOT become pals with any drunks over here. As for Thai women, well that's a minefield, so won't comment on that except to say there is good and bad ones, pretty much the same as anywhere. All the best fella.
