@phoenixkirchoff52684 ай бұрын
While I respect your comment here, do not forget that Aemond can be impulsive in the moment as shown with what he did to Luke previously. He is very cocky and already considers Aegon as being weak and detrimental to the war and throne. Aemond has the most fierce, large, and battle-hardened dragon in the realm which probably makes him believe he can defeat all the other dragons combined. Also, "Fire and Blood" is biased towards the Greens. While it is considered a history book, it still contains the bias of OldTown (Hightower) writers and assemblers of the stories. I think the show does relatively well in providing a counter-narrative (Black bias) in order to balance out the "Fire and Blood" narrative. sort of that the truth can be found somewhere in the middle and much is left out of history depending on who writes it.
@Timquan.4 ай бұрын
@phoenixkirchoff5268 No bro Aemond has been the complete opposite of impulsive. Finally go back and watch when Young Aemond got jumped. Throughout the entire altercation his actions are composed and measured, only escalating when the others escalated.

@@Timquan. I would agree with you that Aemond is not impulsive most of the time. But he has also had moments of impulsivity which can occur for anybody. He is not a robot who controls his emotions 100% of the time. He has bottled up so much from the hazing he received during his childhood. Was it not impulsive to decide that he would risk his own life to mount Vhagar? Was it not impulsive to engage Luke in a dragon fight at Storm's End and risk escalating the war which may or may not have started at that point? Aemond has become arrogant. He mirrors Daemon in so many ways who is another high-risk impulsive character...a very very Targaryen trait.

@@thepunisher6674 If you want a GOT/HOTD character who is the least impulsive, that would be Otto Hightower or Tywin Lannister. Its a horrible move and should be imppossible to spin. Aemond would never crash out off of emotion when confronted with an unexpected occurance. This was highlighted at driftmark when he saved himself and his mother from torture, and then later juxtaposed when he lost his temper in front of Luke at Storms end. I believe aemond speaks high valerian not to be nice and privately mock his brother but as a demonstration of power. He directly attacks Aegins weak point: Self confidence. Argon always feels inadequate to be king and that nobody takes him serious. Aemond demonstrates to him that he, Aegon, his inferior in one important thing for a Targaryen king: Heritage and the old tongue. It is this that aegon understands and sinks back leaving Aemond to act as pleased. At least that is how I understood the scene.

This is why Rhaenys has the opening to push her claim as the next eldest in the succession line before Viserys. So this was actually only a recent thing in Westeros. I think back to Game of Thrones, when Tommen was heir and about to be named king, Tywin cleary manipulates him in the eyes of the viewer, he attempts to groom Tommen to listen to his counsil, aka, Tywin himself. Little scenes like that are sorely missed in House of the Dragon. The plan to make Aegon a puppet king is good, but they lacked the actual grooming of Aegon to be a puppet king, which in my opinion in poor/ rushed writing.

Here's the theory that Aemond is actually innocent here: Aemond didn't know Meylys was the dragon that was sent by Rhaenyra. He might have thought it was Baela on the MoonDancer(a dragon that Sunfyre completely out matches), since Criston Cole had seen the dragon in the field the prior episode. When he saw that it was Meylys and they were sky locked, he didn't know how else to break up the two but by fire. He had his sword out later in the woods because he may have encountered a few stray soldiers from rooks rest or because he thought that maybe Aegon would try to retaliate. But when he saw his brother on the ground he knew he wouldn't need it. So he sheathed the sword.

Aegon wasn't capable of fighting Raynes or Daemond but he would had been more than a match for Rhaynera or his son
@JH-zs3bs4 ай бұрын
I don't think he could've defeated rhaenyra in the sky. Sunfyre is younger than syrax though probably around equal in size. But rhaenyra has much more experience in riding a dragon and is overall more experienced. On the ground with swords? Sure aegon would win, but on dragonback he'd probably get smoked by rhaenyra.

@@JH-zs3bs Fliying isnt the same with fighting, both have a dragon from birth so I think the experience is the same , I said he would be a match , I don't say he will absolute win
@JH-zs3bs4 ай бұрын
@@flavius5722 well you said more than a match. Flying is not the same as fighting but it's a part of fighting. It's like saying running isn't the same as football, technically true but it's still an important factor. More than a match implied to me that you think he'll be more likely to win and I think the opposite. I'd say it's 70:30 in rhaenyra/Syraxes favour.

@@JH-zs3bsI actualy think all goes down to the dragons , the riders are there to quide them because otherwise why would the dragons care about human battles Based on the books I think Sunfyre will win 8/10 against Syrax , he is not bigger But is definetly much more durable After the battle with Meleys and his injuries , Sunfyre still had defeated other two healty dragons ( Moondancer and Grey Ghost ) , and the troops of house Mooton and still survive many days after Syrax on the other hand ,never fighr any dragon , and was killed during the riots of Kings Landing

This story is written with the bias of historians with the patriarchy agenda of the male rule, not POV chapters. When reading the story readers should feel some bias of the greens not doing any real wrong. Even if you are team green, the one eyed kinslayer is definitely crazy and cruel.

I was enjoying thinking of Aemond as a sort of master warrior in training. I thought he would transcend his resentment in a deeper philosophical sort of way and take the true path of a warrior that can overcome his own emotions . With the choice to give in to his resentment and burn his brother he becomes more like a standard villain What will be interesting to see , is if Aemond doubles down on his action or if he asks his brother for forgiveness

Here's the thing people need to remember about the Book. Fire and Blood is told through the view of a maester. They write the histories like our own, through the eyes of the victors. Having Aemond as a devoted brother who picked up the banner of his wounded brother to secure Aegon's claim to the crown is good for propaganda.
@thepunisher66744 ай бұрын
Yeah but the greens were only the Victors very briefly since aegon the third took the throne Plus the whole book is using sources from the dance from both sides, maester orwile who was on the green council and mushroom who was a pervert who had been rheaneryas companion since childhood if the book was purely green propaganda the author would’ve thrown out mushrooms testimonies because they’re clearly unreliable and biased The book isn’t pure and true on the facts because it’s written way after the fact but it isn’t purely propaganda or as unreliable as people say it has multiple perspectives on incidents and allows the reader to come to their own conslusions

@@thepunisher6674 if anything, mushroom is an ideal source for someone attempting to slander the blacks because absolutely no one, I mean no one, takes him seriously. I don't see why they wouldn't want his perspective in the situation where there's green propaganda controlling the narrative
@thepunisher66744 ай бұрын
@@The-Doctor6969 He is definitely not a source for slandering the blacks because many of his accounts make the greens out to be monsters like when he says that aegon was having relations with a 12 year old girl while watching a child fight, mushroom is the dimly source for this and if you’re trying to make a side look good you don’t make their leader out to be a sadistic pedophile

I thought it was so fking cheesy that Rhaenys death was so dramatic. Falling back like that like it was that tragic that she died. All of these characters deserve to die screaming like in the books, granted some more than others but this over dramatic stuff I really hope they don't keep doing it.

In the books I assume she dies in a fall as well, just with vhagar on top. Not much time to scream either. And it made sense she didn't scream here.

@@JH-zs3bs No in the books it was a whole fight from the air to the ground and odds are she died to the fire.
