I recently made a video titled “why iOS is better than Android” and I was really happy with your guys’ response. I honestly expected a lot of backlash and hate and a really ugly comment section, but that wasn't the case at all, and I really do appreciate that. Now at the beginning of that video I told you guys I would eventually create a followup video for Android fans and I’m happy to be delivering on that promise today, despite some healthy skepticism from the comment section. So in this video we’re going to explore the strengths Android and find out what makes it better than iOS.

You forgot one big reason: the file system. Android's file system makes it extremely easy to interface with other Android devices and Windows PCs. With the iPhone, you cannot transfer files directly from a computer or vice versa unless you have *iTunes* . Sure, you can install it on a Windows PC, but that's an extra, complicated step. Ironically, Android does something simpler than iOS. But there's a *second* thing: Android has direct access to files, meaning it is extremely easy to use third-party media players such as VLC. So it does two *huge* things simpler than iOS.

Wait until you find out you can *gasp* install 3rd party apps!! You can beta test a lot of games before they even hit the stores, customisation is unmatched (you can literally change so much about android, it’s actually insane), want your fav song as a ringtone? Go for it. Want access to apps blocked in your country’s playstore? Install another game store and download it. Want to install apps that have been deleted from the store? Two clicks away. I am currently using an iPhone and I hate it so much. I hate how iOS is a control freak and won’t allow anything outside their appstore as if like their users are 10 year olds who don’t know how to use their phones. Android is a machine that works as you want it to. iOS is a control freak that makes you work only in areas it wants you to.

What I like most about Android is the file system. I have all my files of all types stored in folders I can easily access and customise whenever I want. And I can choose the default app I want to open them with. This whole thing, though improved since iOS 11, is still a lot more complicated on Apple devices. The other thing I like about Android was the freedom of Apps. Game emulators, Video Downloaders, torrent clients, all this stuff is only available on Android. But in the end I chose to switch to iPhone last year because of stability, simplicity, update policy, overall usability and no I’m not joking - Apple Pay. In the end i had so many issues with my android device that I didn’t want to experience it again. (Notifications not popping up, no ringtone sound, constant app crashes, keyboard not appearing when needed, just to name a few)

Great video. As an Android user, one thing I wish you could have highlighted in greater detail is the true multitasking capability that you can do on Android versus the IPhone. On iPadOS, you can run two apps side by side like you can on Android. I can be on KZbin while shopping on Amazon or sending a text message. Also, media transfer between devices; It’s seamless on iPhone with AirDrop but iPhones don’t accept media transfer via NFC or Bluetooth. This one is a personal one for me, but since IPhones do not come with either USB-C or an S-Pen, I have to use Android. Until that happens, I will stay with an Android device while using an iPad. Keep up the great work with your videos!!

while split-screen works better on iPadOS, not all apps support it. sure, some apps on Android don't support it either but it can be forced to be used in split screen mode with developer settings. windowed mode is also far superior on iPadOS than on Android, but one thing that bothers me is that some apps don't support it, windows aren't resizeable and you can only have one windowed app open at a time. if you want other apps, you'll have to switch them. on Android apps can be forced to support windowed mode, windows are resizeable, although this feature works *horribly*, and you can have multiple apps open. another thing is that Android's window mode is broken as fuck, and if you open another app or go to the home screen the windows completely break and become very buggy (this is Android AOSP, other ROMs such as MIUI have a much better window system). I'd choose iPadOS over Android for multitasking

My favorite two Features are actually the file management (you get direct access to the entire userspace filesystem, can save, copy and move data into whatever folder you want and are able to just use your phone as a big, fast and securely encrypted USB flash drive) and the ability to side load apps without needing to jailbreak your phone.

Having access to the open source code doesn't necessarily mean you can easily root. If the manufacturer allows for bootloader unlocking, open sourcing kernel code makes it easier for devs to modify it and release a custom kernel. But much code is closed source anyway, unfortunately. I just love to use both platforms and I think that there is no difference in which phone or platform a person’s device is running” We as human can end this ongoing war between Android and iOS and, “call it a day”. Android user here whose first smartphone was an iPhone 3GS. I bought an iPad back in 2017 and sold it within a year. One of my major gripes with iOS once I'd used Android phones was the former's lack of an app drawer; I found it very limiting and functionally unpleasant not to be able to hide apps I rarely used. I was therefore quite pleased to see that such a feature will be in iOS 14 in the form of the App Library, and was even thinking about trying an iPad again. However, I was quite annoyed and baffled to read that the App Library will not be part of iPadOS 14. Makes no sense when Apple is trying to position the iPad as a computer alternative; people will have more apps on their tablets, a possibly larger fraction of which they won't use often than on their phones. So, they need a way to organize apps intelligently that works for them, rather than being forced to relegate unused apps to stray home screen pages. However much I like how Apple does some things, I consider one of their major flaws to be a tendency to simplify things too much instead of educating users about how their device works. App Library would not be difficult to figure out or explain on an iPad, and it would make the interface that much cleaner. Yet, users are locked in to living with whatever decisions Apple makes and have little to no ability to ensure that their requests for changes are being seen, not to mention to grill Apple for explanations and get honest replies.

well, i’m on iOS 16 and it has a app library, it’s pretty easy to use but the problem is i don’t even use it, do y’all really have like hundreds of apps on your ipad?? i only got like, a hundred which most of them are either apple apps or apps i don’t care about (i only use like 3 apps a day) so the app library really don’t matter imo on ipad, on a iphone though, i guess that would make more sense but still, why do y’all have like 3pages in apps

I love android. The only thing I don’t like is their play store. Their play store isn’t checked by the android companies like Samsung, so a lot of apps have viruses. I also don’t like a lot of the customization, so many different phones because there are so many different choices and it overwhelms me. Also, android does not support older phones compared to apple

I've never understood why some Apple users / Android users make fun of the other OS, whomever it may be, when they copy a feature; It happens on both sides and if anything makes the experience better for everyone. If nobody copied of the other side's features, Apple wouldn't have: copy / paste, widgets, face recognition etc, and Android wouldn't have: nearby sharing (like air drop), Gesture Controls, Better privacy related features etc. P.S. Great video :)) We need more rational thinking people like you ❤

Another thing you get on Android is experimentation. Being an Apple person, I generally prefer something that is polished, dependable and going to be supported for a long time, but if you want a glimpse at the future or just want something unique, Android manufacturers will try it first. Foldable phones, a phone that when plugged into a display has a full desktop experience, periscope lenses with 50x or 100x zoom, a phone that has a display that wraps around 90% of the phone (front and back), or a phone with a built in game controller, you better believe some Android manufacturer tried it first.

The two features I most want from Android are changing the camera resolution without exiting the app and the incoming call UI, both are present in iOS 14 so I’m happy. Other feature I’d like to see is another keyboard row for numbers. And since Apple is opening to settings third party apps as default, I would like to be able to set Google Maps as default navigation app, in my country the Apple Maps is simply useless, it doesn’t have directions and the information available is almost non existent. I’m ok with the other iOS native apps as default.

6:40 Holy smokes. That's exactly me.. OnePlus smartphone, Asus Laptop and an iPad. And what you've said is exactly true. I don't like being restricted by a brand. I decide what I wanna do in my phone. In terms of software support, apple does a great job because apple controls every bit of their phones and they release a very few phones which allows them to optimise and concentrate on each phone. But android is no slouch. In fact even after the 3 years of major software support and some more months of security updates that Google or OnePlus gives, we can still flash any custom ROMs and get the latest software till the phone dies eventually. My old Nexus 5 which is from 2013 is running on Android 10 (Pixel experience). ♥️🔥 And after just slapping in a stable Google camera mod, the camera performance is improved too. So this kind of flexibility and control over the OS can't be achieved by iOS. That's why I chose Android over iOS. But I must say that Apple is the best in terms of tablets.♥️🔥👌 I just love it.♥️

I’m glad you have options out there for you, but those advantages you describe are for power users who like to tinker. Most people don’t care about that, they just want their phones to work and be reliable. Their main uses consist of media consumption, taking pictures/videos, social networking, as well as some shopping, home banking and other trivial tasks. Nobody using an iPhone wishes they could hack into it to keep it up to date or modify it in anyway. Most Android users also just use their phones as they are out of the box, and never do anything major. It’s nice that there’s something out there for power users to customize and take the most advantage out of, and this is where Android shines, but it’s not something most people would do because they’re not that tech savvy.

Took me 12 years to come to that conclusion. Spent 7 years thinking that Apple is the best and that Android is weak and that their fans don't know what they're missing. Spent the following 5 years despising Apple for their rigid thinking, overpriced products, arrogant fans (of which I once was), and the lack of keeping up with all Android had to offer. And a year ago I started to see and understand both sides of each respective OS - accepting that both have strengths and weaknesses and that each user has their preferences and reasons why they stick with a certain OS. Now, I still use Android as my daily driver and still think Applei more expensive than SOME android companies and they tend to take their time on offering new features. BUT I did test out the iPhone SE2 for a month and definitely enjoyed the phone as well as the series 5 watch. Unfortunately that small battery didn't justify keeping it passed the return policy. But I'm definitely keeping an eye on both sides of the competition and what each has to offer with each sequential update/upgrade

Open Source doesn’t necessarily mean that you can use third-party tools. It just means that anyone can see the code of the operating system and contribute to it. It also means that anyone can “fork” the code and make their own operating system out of it. I believe most major Android phone manufacturer forks, and then pulls changes from the new “stock” version, which is why some are often stuck 2 versions behind (this “pulling” is easier said than done, especially when the changes you’ve made conflict with the stock).

HOWEVER, iOS 14 is looking really tempting and I do really want an excuse to try either the iPhone 11 Pro out or wait a little longer for the 12 Pro that is to come out sometime this fall. I also was to be able to try using the Apple Watch with it as I've come to love using a smart watch in tow with my Android phone (Right now it's the OnePlus 7T Pro sheerly for the incredible display with no notch.) of choice. I used to have a stupid petty hatred for Apple but more recently I've been becoming more open to actually giving iPhones another shot as I did use the 4 and did actually like it quite a bit before I got a competent android phone that I fell in love with. (Pixel 2XL) There's a lot of features that I hope to explore on the iOS side of things when I do get an iphone, whether I decide to wait or just go grab the 11 Pro tomorrow. I have small hands and I keep getting big phones, I'm starting to annoy myself lol.

Mostly because Apple users bash Android features but secretly covet the customization of Android. Before they hit Apple they’re called gimmicks. But suddenly widgets aren’t gimmicks now they’re coming to iOS. Wireless charging was a gimmick until iOS got it. Samsung has fast charging 4 years before Apple. Oled screens. Phablets. All these were considered gimmicky. Note 1 was bashed by Steve Jobs as a big phone. It was 5”. The shit does go both ways but I see it mostly from Apple fans as they are always late to the party on features that a few years back they called gimmicks.

Freedom, choice, configurability etc. - all well and good, but also with Android 90% of the users don't fiddle around with their mobile phone, but use it as they got it. And this makes it clear what the real advantage of Android phones is: the price alone. As soon as Apple lowers its prices, hordes of Android users will flock to Apple, as you will see from the iPhone SE figures in a few months. The big problem for Android will be to ever get these users to use Android again after they have gotten to know Apple's ecosystem, update policy, security aspects, simplicity and reliability...
@pandacrazy8487
@pandacrazy8487 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I made a list of some other stuff Apple does way better than android. Apple prices slowly become lower and lower, I expect to see the majority of users come to Apple soon enough as well. Even some hardcore game developers, did you hear about all the various tools Apple is making to allow devs to implement their games across all devices better? Anyways, here’s my long ass list lmao of some other stuff: 1. Apple takes way less personal data from you vs google, and allows you to delete all of your data from apple directly. The same app also tracks you way less vs on android. 2. The app store is also way more secure than google's play store because it has a more rigorous filtering/application system. 3. iPhones in general are also more secure because there's a higher adoption rate of the latest software/security, and because more devices are able to adopt the newest software/security. 4. Malware also target android devices more for the same reasons. Because most android devices aren't up to date to the newest software/security (as a result of limited software support and adoption rate), it results in more efficient/high success of spread; and because there are way more android phones than iPhones in general, it's also more efficient (more "worth") for the host to spread to more devices at the same time, while having a higher success rate as well due to the lack of software and security updates/adoption, and inferior app filtering. 5. Apple also roles out software updates for bugs/issues way faster than android, usually within a week or two, which means less vulnerability. 6. iPhones have higher resale value, so you actually save more in the long-run with an iPhone.

@@pandacrazy8487 There are so many decisions made by Apple in the past that nobody understood then, but everything falls into place now and makes sense all of a sudden: Metal-graphics, 64-bit, ARM, unified UI, unified apps and so on.

Yes and no, android phones taxes in countries like mine are lower so iPhones are still more expensive here, and some people would prefer a bigger screen over the iPhone SE. However, ultimately I have seen considerably more people using iPhones in my country, 4 years ago in a classroom of 60 people there would only be 3 or 4 iPhone users, now I see about 10 out of 40. But anyway, in undeveloped countries, Huawei and Samsung will continue to be dominant since most people buy phones in the 100 - 200 $ range

@@augustogalindo8687 Like I said: Android's only advantage is *price* , regardless how often Fandroids praise freedom, choices, configurability, specs, bells and whistles. There are polls that asked how many people actually *have* iPhones and how many *want* an iPhone. I can't remember the numbers out of my head, but I think it were almost double the percentages who *want* an iPhone than who actually *had* one. Means: There are BILLIONS of Android users who'd rather have an iPhone. Ok, most of them live in developing countries and cannot afford one - YET! But that might change. That's the definition of "developing" countries, isn't it? Either these people climb in prosperity or Apple lowers the prices or both - and then: bye-bye Android! 95% of all humans on earth already have a mobile phone - there is no market left for Android to expand in (at least on this planet). But Apple easily can expand into Android's market share. Sooner or later Android will have only the nerds and the very poor as customers. Time works for Apple. And by the way: The same is true for Windows!

My biggest praise of Android over iOS for years has been how things are shared between apps. I think iOS is catching up, but from what I've seen, it's nowhere near as universal.

I had a Pixel 3 xl and found that once Android 11 came out it was as close as the system had come to iOS on that phone. I still went back to an iPhone 11 but at this point it really comes down to which ecosystem you want to be in.

I switched from iOS to Android one year ago. I used to be an iOS user since the iPhone 4 came out. I used some low-mid end Android phones for a few day during this time and I used to think that Android phones were really bad. Always lagging and crashing and having a slower touch response compared to that of the iPhones. A year ago, I had an event that required me to keep uploading stuff to social media apps and keep downloading other stuff in the way, all of these during two consecutive days. My iPhone 13 Pro Max failed to perform this properly. I used to tap "Upload", "Download" and "Send" left and right, then locking the phone and when my day was over I had a bunch of notifications informing about interrupted processes and errors performing that. I couldn't believe such an iPhone couldn't multitask all of that. A friend of mine doing the same stuff had a Galaxy Note20 doing the job perfectly. I decided to try Android for a few weeks so I got an S21 Ultra. The iPhone still was my main phone, tho. In a couple of weeks I ended up giving up to iPhone. I found out that my S21 could do everything much better, was a higher quality hardware phone and had real multitasking. Now I cannot even think about returning to iOS.

Great video. If you don't mind constructive criticism... If you haven't already try setting your video camera angle at a direct horizontal eye level. It is a bit weird for us the audience, to look at your precense from a higher angled point of view.
