I really love when people can appreciate a video games design no matter the year it was made in

I really like how in most SNK fighting games the stages change during rounds, particularly when it shows the passage of time, in some of them you first start fighting during the day, then switches to afternoon, nighttime or even daybreak. I think Mark of the Wolves has some of the best backgrounds stages in a SNK game, especially since you can interact with them when using the taunt button, or how some stages like B.Jenet, Hokutomaru and Dong Hwan change during round or who you're fighting against, or the fact that Terry has technically 3 different statges which makes sense considering you're on a moving train

Yeah sf3 and tk7/tk8 does this aswell

I usually don't watch a video this long but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this one thanks✌️. I have a new appreciation for fighting game backgrounds now👍

I never get tired of talks about fighting game background stages. CVS has some of the best stages. I'm surprised Samurai Shodown stages are hardly featured in this video. The series have awesome stages too. ❤❤

You cooked with this video bro. If people talking about fighting games it doesn't matter how long the video is. My favorite stage is Tower of arrogance it's just such a trip to look at.

Cool, having missed out on all the Tekken games between 3 and 8, 4's stages look really cool to me. Gotta shout out Terry's train stage from Garou, that's one of the most impressive 2D stages IMO, especially when you take the hardware limitations into account. Focus on the metal beams on the bridge during the second part of the stage when it's in motion.....

In KOF ‘94, and ‘95 feature team Brazil (Army team) have a crashed helicopter in the background. I kept thinking someone doesn’t know how to fly.

What game was at 15:19? Great video by the way, took me down memory lane with the Tekken and Street Fighter stages. Man, I really love the details of KOF 99 man. KOF 13 was flipping beautiful.

I wanna give credit to some platform fighter stages, mostly Playstation all stars. How they constantly evolve with the invasions, crossing over different series. Also, Duck duck pie is so dumb, I love it

you kno what i find weird is that publishers have definitely gotten lazy over the years. I liked smash because its really a simplified fighter with a lot of stages. MK3 had a decent amount too but man. I really wish theyd fuse beat'em'up into a story for a fighter, then have fight stages, but incorporate maybe parts of that beat'em'up level into a level select. I wanna have like 24 levels, and always some skyscraper or train level lol :D The train level in TMNT tournament fighters was awesome.. i remember as a kid finally getting to karai and seeing that level and just the general pace of it felt incredibly crazy for a 90s video game. I had another train level sort of like that but for the MUGEN game engine and it was this super cool futuristic train arena that was fairly large.

The lack of Daraku Tenshi is crazy ☠️ you should really check this hidden gem. Also Spectral VS Generation would be cool too especially with the music part that you mentioned (in fact i have the whole ost uploaded in my channel)
@bad10822 ай бұрын
SNK is THE king of stages. Their 90's stages are still unbeatable. Fatal Fury, Kof, Last Blade, Samurai Showdown were all way ahead of the competition

Third strike and sf alpha 3, have hands down the best stages. Same with soul caliber.
@gipgap42 ай бұрын
Several of Third Strikes backgrounds are quite bland in my opinion with not much going on. I believe it was due to the memory restrictions with the CPS3 board. Second Impact had better backdrops than Third Strike unfortunately.
@realamericannegro9772 ай бұрын
Oh Alpha 3 has too many nice backgrounds. I love all the detailed backgrounds in 3rd Strike like Hugo's, Chun Li's.

@@gipgap4 looking back, I think I prefer the stages in New Generation and Second Impact, Third Strike has some nice looking stages, but some of them look like they don't mesh well with the game's artstyle
@Albert-lj5jb2 ай бұрын
Nah, 3s stages vary in quality, some just straight up look like unfinished renders, Makoto's for example

Not a single MK arena I think.. Why does the western fgc not like that series?
@realamericannegro9772 ай бұрын
MK has some excellent backgrounds. MK 3 may be some of their best work in the 2D ones and that says a lot. Their PS2 era ones, Especially Deadly Alliance were awesome. Today Mortal Kombat has the best backgrounds of all the fighting games in my opinion.
@carlbob00022 ай бұрын
The FGC in general don't like NRS games or barely anything beyond Tekken and Capcom. NRS has a lot of cool stages, interactions and stage transistions. Killer Instinc, Blazblue, Soul Calibur and Gran Blue are other games with a lot of cool stages that got ignored.
@themanwhosoldtheworld32842 ай бұрын
@@carlbob0002 Here in asia (middle east), we generally accept mk as the best 2d fighting game. 3d is tekken. Sf and other games aren't even in the competition.
