All good content..and articulated. Shows the years of explaining in a class settings. One more reason for tucking in your rabbit ears on speedy tie boots. When at the worst time those rabbit ears will catch and lock onto the opposite boot cause'n you too fall off a flat bed trailer while tarping your load down. Thanks for this video. My dad told us to stay out of the toolroom. He had his expensive tools etc in there. I would sometime go in there why he was at work. Darn he knew I went in there. I finally figured it out he tied a left handed square knot. We all tied left over right . Right over left. He tied right over left, left over right. That was his trap. Changed the way it’s tied. Looks the same , but isn’t. Thanks again.

A different way to tie shoe or boot laces is to tie them as you typically do, as blackie showed, can call it the typical way, but after making second loop, don't tighten it down just yet. Instead, run that loop thru that same hole and then tighten it down while making the loops a bit bigger. I've done this with new, slippery para cord and it works well. Never had it to come undone. You can still knot the tails and pull until the knotted tails reach the center and tuck them in your shoe/boot. To undo simply pull one tail sharply and the knot is completely undone. This way you're not making two knots to undo...you're only making one knot. Now, a little tip...I normally take the two loops by the part that doesn't slide and pull them snug. I don't tuck my laces, were my boots all day, pant leg rubbing against them, walking thru brush, ect., and my laces have never come undone. Been doing it that way for years now.

I've recently started using dyneema cord, it's super lightweight, doesn't absorb water, is ultra strong. Also does NOT hold knots in the conventional manner because it's so plasticy and slick. Good video!

I've always loved knots and rope work. From the Boy Scouts to building transmission lines along with rock climbing and fly fishing I've learned a few knots. Everyone should know how to tie a knot or two that they would trust their life on. As you said the type of rope you're working with determines the knots that work best for your task. My advice to people I try to teach knots to is to spend a little time to understand how a particular knot works... but most of the time they just look at me like I'm an alien. I'm sure you've seen that look too. Another fine video. Keep up the good work. Thanks!

Great content as always...I learned about the locking truckers hitch from my brother in law years ago when he helped me move. Since then I have used it often tying down things in the back of a truck even used it when cutting a tree tied off to my truck not enough room to pull up but with my dad constantly pulling the knot to add tension the tree came down like we planned. Even had to show him how to tie it afterwards because he had not seen it before

Any cord worth tying with square-knot (or bow) is worth using the variant called a surgeon’s knot. VERY simple: just take TWO wraps on the base overhand and tighten; this increased surface area will hold down *without a finger. The “overhand” wraps are what get the tighten/loosen pressures that make the ends loosen/untie. Now I watched you tie a surgeon’s knot at 9:28; I’ve never used it on paracord…..

I still say to try the nite ize cam jams, they don't mess up or come loose. Knowing how to tie the knots is better, but the cam jam is hassle free and takes very little understanding to use. It might be a viable option for those that might not have the hand strength they once did, or just want quick and easy lol. Also ive never had slick cord move with those due to how they lock the cord lol.

Nice technique with a stopper knots but it doesn’t have the quick release so try this double wrap like you did on the first part of the knot then when you do the Bow take that twice around that way you won’t lose the quick disconnect And have a pop when you release it try it out. Enjoy your channel!

Always make sure to make a square knot based bow instead of a granny knot based bow for your shoes. I also loop twice around my bows - it holds better like a double sheet bend and looks better when cinched up. I think that's called the Better Bow, but I'm sure it goes by all kinds of names.

I like your method for tying shoe laces with stopper knots. The first part, where you wrap twice instead of once is usually referred to as a surgeon's knot. I learned to use it to tie off thread when sewing leather from a boot and shoe repairman. I use it on all my bow type knots as well because my left hand is partially paralyzed and the surgeon's knot holds the laces tight long enough to tie the bow without the first two wraps loosening up.

My biggest illumination was in doing up shoe laces...instead of doing a double knot you just go around the loop TWICE and it never comes loose..and you just pull both ends to open it up. Way better than double knots.Takes less than a second to do the second go around. Takes no time at all to undo and it's far superior to double knots.

Yes. It is called a surgeon's knot. Similar to a timber hitch except that you only need to wrap twice for tying slip knots. A timber hitch wraps around itself about 6 times. I started using the surgeon's knot because my left hand was partially paralyzed and I could only use my right hand. I couldn't pull both ends and keep the wrap tight long enough to tie the bow. But, if you wrap twice instead of once and then pull it tight it will stay tight long enough to tie the bow, and then use two wraps in the bow as well to prevent it from coming loose as easily as it does with one wrap. Too many wraps and you won't have a knot that will stay either because the fold-over; the area between the first two wraps on bottom and the two wraps on top to make the bow; will be so wide that there isn't enough of a bite to keep the bow from slipping. I also use a surgeon's knot when sewing leather and tying off the thread. I learned it from a boot and shoe repairman.

What advantages does the truckers hitch have over the alpine knot or butterfly knot. In mountaineering I was told the alpine knot was more secure as a attachment point mid line .
@blackoracle69
@blackoracle69 Жыл бұрын
truckers hitch is to hook between two points to then pull very tight.. the midpoint is to hook a connection in a line perhaps to in climbing to hook on and go out to the side of the base line.. the power of the trucker is in its ability to gain a advantage in drawing a rope tight for a ridege line or to hold a load on a trailer
