@Sir_Budginton5 жыл бұрын
X32 22A it basically means. “My co-driver doesn’t do what I say, I do what my co-driver says”. Simply meaning the driver has to do exactly as the co-driver says or they’ll probably crash, as can be seen in the video. So the co-driver is effectively in charge.
@zwjna5 жыл бұрын
@@Sir_Budginton If there's no co-driver, they'd just drive slowly unless they know [parts of] the stages from previous events. They crash because they trust their co-drivers, not because they are brainlets that definitely need them as the phrase "otherwise they'll crash" makes them look. While I know co-drivers' job is hard, it's the driver the one in charge; the one with the bigger and harder amount of tasks needed to be done during a stage. So I think that phrase was a compliment to Michael, or maybe because in this very special case it was Michael the one "in charge."

Rallye is, for me, the most dangerous, yet most impressive motorsport. I just have so much respect for the drivers and co-drivers !

I was literally about to search why rally drivers need co-drivers 2 seconds before watching this video, but then I noticed this video in my recommended, so, happy coincidences!

Wakeel Janoo Loeb, Grolhom and Solberg raced with WRC cars, which are much more easier to drive than a Group B
@Cozzy-Wozzy5 жыл бұрын
@@kike-Z Yeah but that doesn't take away from the skill that it takes to drive 140+ KM/h on a rough, narrow gravel road. Group B was tough sure. But the new technology of WRC doesn't make it any easier than Group B, really. You're still going blazingly fast down a rough gravel road. Just because WRC has more technology improvements doesn't mean that the skill of drivers today should be thrown in the trash. If anything the new WRC is almost the same as Group B, guess you need the drivers dying from throwing themselves off cliffs to be happy though and plowing into crowds and killing children for it to have that "true" Group B feel though eh?
@bernardomelo20605 жыл бұрын
WRC drivers are considered the most skilled in the world in rallying, just like the group b drivers. However you should take into account it was banned for a reason. I might be wrong but i think after it was banned a study was made and it concluded that group b cars got to the point where the human brain simply could not keep up with the car, back then that was as fast as you could possibly go on a rally stage both tecnologically and skill wise, nowadays i dont think it is true due to the regulations. But make no mistake i know even with all the limitations to the wrc cars they are still beasts

My two biggest co-driver memories watching WRC in its prime: Timo’s ass puncture (which he was given an award for after the rally) and the tragic accident resulting in the death of co-driver Michael Park R.I.P.

It's like living life in 6th gear for these guys, constant high speed everything, driving, reading pace notes, opening gates, changing tires, asking a spectator for their bottle of Coca Cola to fill the empty radiator with liquids so they can finish the stage and one mistake while doing any of these things will cost you the rally entirely, that while the whole world is watching and judging your performance, I have quite some respect for both the drivers and co-drivers in the WRC.

@TheProco20205 жыл бұрын
2006 Impreza yes saw it out of the corner of my eye and instinctively caught it and held on to it until the end of the stage (don’t know why). I was in a 96 GrpN Impreza with a large roof vent. I presume we were catching another car, or been caught and past but don’t remember that bit, just catching the stone.
