Really enjoy all of these peoples questions and Tureks responses to them. I enjoy the different ministries of apologetics. It really does glorify GOD, and I like Tureks patience with the people's questions and humbleness. He does respond gently. I imagine he gets the same questions over and over, but is ready to teach them over and over. I appreciate how he is gentle with the kids in college, because whether they realize it or not, they are being indoctrinated by their professors or influenced to some extent by them, but he can get a little more bold when dealing with other professors in some of the debate clips. It's a good balance I definitely noticed. Keep it up! Finish the Race.

@@DerGuteHut I might like to add, that as a former athiest, no amount of logical debate answer ever was enough for me. if you gave me concrete evidence on a sheet of paper I would still not of believed. why? because it is GRACE. GRACE is the work of unmerited favour in my life that allowed me to come with a tiny little bit of curiosity to the Bible. I cannot remember the exact point in my life that happened but when it did. it consumed me like a fire and I became a believer in Christs full payment of my sins on the tree. Atheists wont ever be satisfied is my point. its more of a self puffing up of ego. God confounds the wise and reveals truths to babes.

Good answer. This world is temporary. Sometimes the righteous are taken to spare them from evil. Isaiah 57:1 Sometimes calamities come as judgment. Deuteronomy 28:24 Sometimes hardship comes as discipline. Hebrews 12:7 Sometimes hardship comes as a test such as in the book of Job. Circumstances can build your character. Your character is more important than your circumstances because lasting joy, peace, hope, and love are not dependent on temporary circumstances. They are the fruit of a godly character. Everyone faces difficulties and seasons of struggles, but the difference is that the godly trust in Christ, turn to Jesus, receive miracles, and demonstrate love, eternal hope, and peace in crisis.

Now that raises a whole 'nother question is why do Christians pray when there is a natural disaster? If God already set these things into motion, why would you ask him to change course? Do you just pray to feel comfort? If that's so, then that makes sense, but I really can't understand why people actually believe praying for something to happen or something not to happen will work.

jnixa1010 It’s bad because you are logically fallacious. Claiming that her ability to prescribe value to something proves the existence of your god is a clear non sequitur, which is bad because that means what you are saying is useless, the opposite of what we are trying to achieve through logic - “finding truths”. Well unless you are want to believe that which is untrue, in which case a fallacious argument would be good to you, which speaks to my position that morality is relative.

His answer to why God causes bad things is "I don't know". At least that is fair. But imagine you are God and have the abilities to make a planet with any environment possible with the nature and characteristics of those inhabitants up to your discretion. The earth would be tranquil and beautiful. If you were God would there be hatred, disease, hurricanes? Not if you are merciful because you can exclude those from existing. If you think life needs to be a test, well I can think of no reason for that, either. Do you think you would become bored if there were no starvation, diseases or hurricanes to worry about? If you are God there is no emotion of boredom because you never concocted it. Does disease and hatred exist in the human concept of heaven? Usually not and no one worries about becoming bored.

Ok so one misconception that a lot of people forget about the message of the gospel is the idea of our redemption and the redemption of the whole of the earth and material and nature because of all of the corruption. Right? So God is going to destroy evil and redeem it all. But the one thing people forget is that God couldn’t ever get rid of evil WITHOUT GETTING RID OF US HUMANS. We are the reason for the evil. Humans = evil. Jesus taught that the heart of man is evil and what he really means is that we were totally opposite to Gods character. We are selfish, unloving, prideful creatures. God can never just get rid of evil because it would involve our destruction and he doesn’t want to do that because he loves us! The only way for God to solve the problem of evil was and is to provide redemption now (spiritual rebirth, direct redemption of communication and relationship with God) and once the time comes based on Gods judgment, a new heaven and earth will be created without evil.
@MrJimMajor
@MrJimMajor 5 жыл бұрын
+Judith Allen You are operating under the assumption that God has to follow the same rational guidelines humans do. I am going under the assumption that God is all-powerful and can make, or reject any and all of the rules. I don't think humans = evil was determined _for_ God. I think humans = evil, if that is even true, was optional for God because God is all-powerful. I think God, if such a being exists, did not have to concoct evil, or disease, or hatred. Yet he decided to make those very things.

Jesus taught that the heart of man is evil Human animal thinks with it's BRAIN not with it's heart (if you wanted to get nitty gritty with it's entire body). We are selfish, unloving, prideful creatures. Nothing out of the ordinary that is if you look at it from an evolution point of view. Us humans are both good and bad like the ying yang symbol. The brain must compare things in order to have an understanding (meaning on a deeper level) of things. Other then that it's just reflexes and DNA inbuilt basic behavior patterns. The only way for God to solve the problem of evil was and is to provide redemption now (spiritual rebirth, direct redemption of communication and relationship with God) and once the time comes based on Gods judgment, a new heaven and earth will be created without evil. Don't you think that by god doing all these sorts of things that god is unnecessarily complicating it. Why not just create other gods to live with...the "GOD" in heaven? ...a new heaven and earth will be created without evil. Riiiight...so god can't do this the first time..for what reason? Ok so we got a god that is still in god school or something? Lucky us.

I find a better answer simply in "We live in a fallen world," as you stated. Going beyond that you enter into an intellectual argument, which may be useful to some people, but the apostle Paul answers this nicely in Romans 8:19-22 saying, "The eager expectation of the creation waits for the appearance of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but by the will of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now." We see hear the things of creation, although not partakers of sin, became cursed along with man. So, creation "groans and travails" even now until our Lord returns and all things are set right again. This is why we have natural disasters. Like everything else, it goes back to the original sin.
@declan.mclean3857

Also sin is the reason crazy disasters happen. When a country Sins badly and Does so much evil they will reap what they sow. God doesn’t do anything, it’s actually the people who are the victims of A hurricane that sow it and bring the curse unto themselves. Just like in sodom and Gomorrah, but God is so gracious that even if One man out of of those sinful people is righteous he Would spare the town. But As today Most people are Evil and phew are righteous so this is why you see Hurricane attacks, volcano explosions...floods, deceases happen to certain people out of nowhere, its simply a Reaping of what all the evil people hath sowed on this earth. And there are obviously different answers to this.

I think this all sounds like an abused wife trying to explain why her bruises mean her husband loves her. I hardly think that living in a world of “what if’s” hardly counts as a good response. the fact is, god has the power to stop, has the power to speak (out loud, directly, not through humans, a gust of wind, or scripture), has the ability to literally change everything and appear in real form in front of us, and does NONE of that. And We’re supposed to be satisfied with a response like “what would it look like if you couldn’t die until 80?” Well, in my opinion, that’d be a pretty good outlook! too many die young if you ask me, and NOT dying sound a lot like what we’re trying to achieve anyway. I feel like asking people to be ok with why god “allowed” you to get raped over and over by your uncle in order for him to “show you” just how good gods salvation is, sound a bit sick to me. either your a good responsible god, or you are none of that. And any attempt to explain and justify that required a world of hypotheticals is literally taking a step in the opposite direction of providing tangible evidence of the way things are: it teaches you to shush your curiosity. And the better they are at hushing your curiosity, the longer it takes for any of us to actually search for a REAL response, such as, “there is no body up making it rain in Japan so Vietnam can have a tsunami for their girlie boys. It’s caused by temperature changes and fluctuations of atmospheric pressure together with the process of condensation that triggers condensation and results in rail fall, magnified by the distance between locations and plate tectonics that create waves the size of The Eiffel Tower. Furthermore, we can stop these tsunamis by planting mangroves near the coastlines.” Now THAT, is a response that takes all the wind out of a persistent and erroneous belief system that INSISTS it’s all for “some purpose in the far distant future some how and we have no idea how to stop it except for getting on our knees and singing hallelujah.” Please stop believing these things people. The world and humanity needs us to grow out of religion for the sake of our continual survival and improvement.

Even Turek, one of the most compelling apologetics, reveals the biggest issue with religion in this answer. We all have fail and success standards for every single thing in our lives. every experience we go through, every product we test, every person we meet - everything has a fail and success standards for it. we judge everything we go through according to our own personal standards to test if it is good for us or bad - if it fails according to our standards or if it "passes". this is how we decide how to live - if we try a new food - is it healthy or tasty enough or not? if it doesnt pass our standards than we dont eat it. if it's a new teacher - is he smart enough or not? is he interesting enough or not? if it's a new friend - is he loyal enough or not? is he funny or interesting enough or not? We jugde EVERYTHING in our lives to know what to keep and what to abandon. everything. there isnt a single decision in life we dont judge in order to know if it's good or bad. sometimes the way we judge isnt good enough, but we judge. we have standards to test if it failed or succeeded (test for ourselves according to our own subjective standards. but we have them). it's the process of selection that keeps us alive, otherwise we would just accept all actions as equally valid even if they were harmful. Every single theist has standards according to which he judges every single thing in the world.... everything except god. God, to a theist, has absolutely no fail standard. you ask a theist, even a well versed like turek, how would you know if god failed, made a mistake or simply tried to harm us and his answer would be "that isnt possible". he is a theist therefore he has absolutely no failed standard for god. Even in the face of the greatest disaster for humanity, a theist will never be able to judge the act. he will always consider it good and wont be able to come up with any form of judgement to know if god failed, or simply didnt care about us. So does Turek in his example - if something horrible happens, like an earthquake, that causes incredible sorrow on thousands of people, turek doesnt have the cognitive ability to judge it. he will simply say "It has some benefit down the line". Guess what, Turek - EVERYTHING has benefits down the line!! and you wanna know what else? EVERYTHING has downsides down the line as well!! A friend of my wife has re-married after a drunk driver ran over her former husband, leaving her alone with her kid. because of that she has fallen into a great depression and her child will never have his true father back, but guess what - because of that accident she met someone else. would a theist believe the drunk driver if he claimed it was his "plan" to get the woman to meet her next husband because he could see the future?! surely not. even a theist with the least amount of critical thinking, would be able to judge a man. But if Turek claims it wasnt the plan of the man, it was God's plan to re-marry her - then he would believe. Is it the best plan to get a woman to remarry? obviously not. there could have been far better ways to get that to happen without causing death and sorrow and an orphan child, but a thrist wouldnt dare to work his critical thinking to judge god, because, for a theist, there is no fail standard for god. the concept of judging god is none existent. so a perfectly reasonable person works his reason to judge everything in his reality to know how to live, will still do the unreasonable and not judge own god. I wish I was there to ask Turek - God claims himself to be all-knowing, all powerful and all loving. If he wasn't, would you know?! could you even judge?! Of course not. that's faith for you. the poorest way of making decisions in life. so poor, in fact, even most theists dont apply it on anything.... except god. .
@mystictomato9466
@mystictomato9466 2 жыл бұрын
Forgive me for being rude but your argument is retarded. Theists believe God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnitranscended and omnibenevolent. Such a god (if real) simply cannot make a mistake or do a misdeed. What you think is the biggest problem of religion isn’t really the biggest problem of religion but your own failed, illogical thinking. Your argument assumes a finite god and theists believe in an infinite god, so in order to make further arguments you must first create an argument against their version of god and not your version of god. If a god was powerful enough to create such an amazing universe out of nothing then I’m pretty sure he isn’t inclined to making mistakes.
@adarwinterdror7245
@adarwinterdror7245 2 жыл бұрын
@@mystictomato9466 I get what you're saying, but I go against two things in my argument: 1. Theists claim that god is all knowing all smart, all good, all everything. This is their axiom due to which it can not make mistakes. However, this claim\axiom is nonsensical because its unsubstantiated and falsifiable. in order to claim something is all smart than we need standards to what smart is and under what point it isnt considered smart. saying its all good or all loving we need to define at what point the god is NOT good or NOT loving. /etc. etc. So the theist cant start at the assumption god is all loving, for example, if you can't define what a NOT-so-loving god would behave like or what a Not-so-good God will behave like. 2. One quality of God doesn't necessarily demand another. A god that created the universe from nothing (Not that there is such a thing as nothing) doesn't lead to a god that is all knowing. Maybe he knows how to create energy but that's it? Just because an engineer can create a car, does it mean he knows how to program it to not crash and burn? Just because a guy can assemble a computer doesn't mean he knows how to program it. A god that knows the future doesn't lead to a god that cares if he makes mistakes or not. And a god that knows what will happen 100 years from now doesn't mean he knows what will happen 20000 years from know. And a god that is all that definitely doesn't mean he loves US humans or good according to OUR standards. Lastly, none of those means that god is interacting with us. (Deism)

I really hate this logic of "god is infinite and can see all" because you're just blindly hoping that the deity up above is good. If he's infinite and you're finite then there's literally no way for you to know he's infinite. Also, you can't know that God has your best interests in the future at heart, and even if he did, killing someone "for the greater good", that is, in the good of the future, is highly dubious.

Knowing all these things, he did everything the same. So then why is God not responsible for his decisions? Why are Christians so eager to make excuses for God? @Cross Examined I'd like to offer answer that would sit on the science side of the coin, but it is *completely a guess* based on the narrative as I've been shown. Jewish tradition and writings speak of an ice canopy (about 3 fingers thick) prior to the Flood. Fountains of the deep break open, sending debris skyward, smashing the canopy. The Bible is written by men and therefore makes sense they would have had an incorrect view of the cosmos, as these people were prescientific at the time. This does not mean you try and interpolate their understanding with what we know now. Men are created having the freedom to choose their path. Regardless of the outcome of their choices, God will not intervene.. This God will let men suffer, will never care if you live or die.. And his Godliness power will never shift even if your an atheist.. Whether you die a godless death and go to hell.. You are nothing.. That is the choice you made.. and its on you.. But this God gave you a choice, Josh 24 Choose you this day whom you will serve... If you live your life loving Him, knowing Him, serving Him, having that fear of Him.. The book of Revelation also reveals that the SLA of this service agreement is that it allows up to 1/3 humans die of disasters. So the SLA signed with Noah is that mankind will sustain no matter what but the spike of a compound of disasters may cause up to 1/3 death of humans. You can see simillarity in how good parents tries to raise their children. Children often see their decisions as mean, unfair, maybe even painful, but later on as they grow older, they are able to look at things from a different perspective, and they feel gratitude towards their parents for doing those things for them. It is not the perfect example, but then you can rarely have one as you try to understand God and his deeds. We are not really capable of comprehending why He do what He do, so we try ouf best to figure it out, but mostly it's just means to believe him completely and blindly, and yes, that could be scary for us people.

So...there are no moral standards for god? I thought he is supposed to be some kind of role model...also...its said that he loves his creation...and you don't torture what you love. You might wanna teach lessons...but what lesson can be learned from a volcano burning down a village killing everyone in it. Good and evil are human terms...we can call a human good or we can call him evil...and we might disagree about that...but we can only say god is good based on what we consider good...like for example... healing people or helping them to get out of a dangerous situation or giving them comfort if they are sad. If those are gods good actions...and we call them good...we can as well call his actions evil...like drowning everybody because no-one fits his moral standards. Thats fucked up...here is a better way to handle it...lower your moral standards...if just one family meet them they are obviously unrealistic. That would be the moral thing to do for every parent or leader....thats like death penalty for every-one who ever downloaded an mp3. Sometimes things just happen because sin is in the world, we as believers have the authority to speak to calamities and cause them to cease, weaken, or worsen. However since God has given authority over the earth into the hands of mankind (Psalm 115:16) and because words are spirit, and because the fear of the wicked shall overtake them (proverbs 10:24) and because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34) and because life and death are in the power of the tongue (proverbs 18:21); those who speak the disaster over themselves will receive disaster in their lives regardless of their belief in God [I heard this story, that a woman was afraid of a certain bridge in her town, she continuously spoke that one day the bridge would collapse and kill her, she was so afraid that she went out of her way to avoid that bridge, one day the bridge collapsed and she died in the collapse. Her relatives questioned why, the answer given to them was because while she did not cause the collapse the spiritual law of her confession made sure that she was on the bridge when it did collapse.(she spoke in fear, she spoke out what was in her heart, and she spoke what she truly believed, as such her spoken belief became her reality)]

DID he give people the opportunity to accept his free gift? Because it seems like god is shockingly disinterested in spreading his message. He can talk to everyone on earth...not bound by things like travel distances or languages...right. But still he hasn't talked to any Austalian prior to the arrival of christian settlers/conquerors. The same goes for both Americas, parts of Africa, Europe...etc. etc. 100 of Generations have not even heard about him. Can you explain that? So...doesn't god want those people to experience Christ and give'em a fair chance to get into heaven? It almost seems like the Abrahamic religions spread exactly like every other idea...by people telling other people about it...like...like people invented it and no supernatural being has any interest in spreading it.

You've obviously heard it a least once since I assume you watched this video, but instead of accepting the message, you're complaining. Therefore, it seems like you've answered your own question by example. I know of missionaries in the most remote places on earth who are helping to spread the Gospel message, so if you're in Australia and you have never heard of Christ you really have no excuse. Especially in the days of the Internet. So since it's obvious that you've heard the Gospel message at least once, what's stopping you from accepting it now? None of us are guaranteed tomorrow. Steven Foulger "You've obviously heard it a least once since I assume you watched this video," Yes...I went to two different schools run by the church...I had my fair dose of Gospel. - ", but instead of accepting the message, you're complaining" Wait..I'am not allowed to question things? Hmkay. But the point is...this message claims to have divine origin..right. So...if I want to trust it...and put it over the word of everyone else I need evidence for that claim. And of course I can't ignore contrary evidence that might point to a worldly origin. I'am doing exactly that. - "Therefore, it seems like you've answered your own question by example." No I haven't...because it was not about people of today it was about people who where born after Jesus but where never informed by god about the thing that he cares most about...for some reason. Could that reason be that its not god interested in spreading those word but humans? Yes. So...you have any reason for me to rule that possibility out? - "so if you're in Australia and you have never heard of Christ you really have no excuse. " Lets see....Australia was "discovered" by the Europeans in the 17th century. Jesus lived and died in the 1th century. So...everyone who lived within that time period has a PERFECT excuse. So again my question...Why haven't god told them about Jesus if he A) loves all people and is totally not a racist...and if he is its usually because this tribe was mean to the hebrews. B) Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation. C) Talking to them is as easy as talking to all those middle eastern and later European or American people. D) Talking to people in their dreams and sending prophets is NOT against his Nature...as shown in the bible. The point is...if god is real...we would expect him to be known by all people and NOT to spread like a human idea that can only move if people move. Also...WHEN the missionaries arrive...what would have been wrong with a few lousy miracles to convince those new people...and I talk about REAL miracles....like let Aires rock hover and turn into a cross or something. That would probably converted most of the natives and therefor didn't give the Europeans a reason to slaughter and enslave them. Hmm.....seems like god is surprisingly okay with those things. - "what's stopping you from accepting it now?" Well...a lot of things...but the questions above are a thing. Would be pretty hard to deny a religion that all people knew...no matter if they had contact with other people or not. But if EVERY tribe or cultural region has its own gods....that kind of point to the fact that people made them up (which also explains why all the people usually think they where the first created and the one chosen by higher forces) Funfact...THAT (that the Indigenous people of the world already knew about the bible) was exactly what most europeans expected when they discovered new civilisations...they had the same questions than me...but somehow glossed over it and assumed that those people are savages that god must be okay with killing, robbing or enslaving. Please give it some thought.

Matthew, Mark and Luke all tell us Jesus foretold that the end times would be preceeded by Nation being against Nation , there would be pestilence, famine and earthquakes in diverse places. Strong's concordance tells us Nation comes from Ethnos, a race or tribe of people of like mindedness.Jesus goes on to say that ALL these are the beginning of birth pains. If ALL these things are happening with an increase of intensity and closer together our redemption is near. George Mason, credited with being the Father of the Bill of Rights, even said the laws of nature are the laws of God and cannot be superseded by any power on earth, and as no nation can be rewarded or punished in the next world, they must be in this world. Providence punishes National sins by natural calamities. The Bible is clear that God has chastised people and Nations for their sins, but in the end times it will encompass the whole world. When mankinds sins reach a predetermined point all nations will be made to drink from God's cup of wrath. Even so, come Lord Jesus

"Jesus foretold that the end times would be preceeded by Nation being against Nation" And that wasn't the case. Remember....the Roman empire was pretty much against god...they kicked the ass of his people, burned down the temple and than outlawed Christianity for hundred of years killing Christians, including some of Jesus own disciples...its hard to be more "against god" than this? And yet...the Roman Empire went down over a thousand years ago and the world is still there. So...no...that predictions was completely wrong. And even worse...Jesus gave specific orders what to do....I give him the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't talking about some cataclysmic event but the possible consequences of a failed uprising which was already in the air back in the days...and that...to his credit...took place like he predicted it...(beside the coming of the kingdom of god of course) but the temple was destroyed and the hebrews got their ass handed to them ....and fleeing in the mountains was probably one of the smarter choices. But if you want to link those words with the end of the times....it doesn't work out...keep in mind that Jesus directly addressed people...NOT their ancestors in over 2000 years....and if he does...most Nations of today are way less hostile to christians than the roman empire...so...beside a handful of nations run by muslim extremists...this criteria doesn't even fit our time. And nations have to suffer gods wrath? Really? Because a lot of nations who are not very religious doing surprisingly fine...while nations with dedicated believers are somehow not immune to suffering....almost like its worldly reasons wether or not your nation thrives and not which god you force people to talk to. So...the (really) good news is that we don't live in biblical end times....the bad news...world is still fucked because of all the pollution and climate change...maybe a little nuclear war some day.

@@DerGuteHut The time Jesus spoke of was in the future. What happened to Israel fulfilled old testament prophecy and was a shadow of things to come. Please note that Jesus said ALL of these things are the beginning of BIRTH PAINS. Just as a womans birth pains begin slowly and culminate with the birth so will the second coming of Christ. The first world war made ready a land for the Jews, the second world war made the Jews ready for their land. They chose to name that land Israel (they could have chosen any name) and it became a Nation in 1948. No people has ever been dispersed for that long a time, gotten their land back and retained their language and ethnicity. The end times clock began ticking again in 1948.
