Yeah, there's no way around it that they're essentially the same character. Especially after DBS Broly where Gogeta acts a lot more like Vegito and in the Black arc Vegito now has a time limit to his fusion. They're the same guy with different sets of moves, which are likely just preference. I can still see Vegito use Big Bang Kamehameha or Gogeta Final Kamehameha.

They are basically different arrangements of the personalities and genes of the same 2 saiyans, Vegito is playful like Goku, but takes on Vegeta's cocky traits, whereas Gogeta is serious and stoic and takes on Goku's wiser more responsible traits as well as Vegeta's serious grumpy traits. You could almost think of Vegito and Gogeta as non identical twins, they have the same genes but their genetics are arranged differenty with the traits of the 2 saiyans being alternated as dominant surface traits per fusion giving them both alternate surface personas and physical appearances. However GT and Super changes things by adding 2 newer versions of Gogeta both with their own seperate personalities, GT Gogeta was far more similar to Vegito than Z Gogeta, taking on Goku's sillier traits and Vegeta's cockiness. Then there's DBS Gogeta who is sort of a blend of the cockiness/silliness of GT Gogeta and the seriousness/stoicness of Z Gogeta, making a character that like his GT version actually smirks and has fun toying with his opponent but at the same time like his more serious Z version who does not smirk he doesn't get carried away and gets the job done, so essentially there are 4 different fusion characters of Goku and Vegeta.

What are you talking about? Vegetto showed Goku's playful side, his vision in battle, and also Vegeta's proud and arrogant side very well. Vegetto shows Goku and Vegeta's most striking personalities while Gogeta is mysterious, he was little used for you to say that he looks more like Goku. Gogeta never had the chance to deal with a villain full of ideologies and ambitions, besides Gogeta's time is short he has to do the work quickly, he doesn't have time to joke or be arrogant.​@@hyperrunner893

Gogeta when put in Vegito situation tried to bait omega shenron with jokes and acted cocky and playful bullying him like Vegito did to buu to purposely get absorbed. Vegito after knowing his time limit wasn't forever literally tried to kill zamasu like 5 times as soon as he fused and if you account for how fast dragonball characters are and the manga. Vegito blue lasted for almost exactly 3 mins in real time. They are the same person in behavior too basically.

Vegito may have the power to battle extremely powerful opponents, But Gogeta has the fortitude and the strength to defeat his opponents. Now that's not to say Vegito can't do the same thing unfortunately though the plot of the story doesn't give him the victories against his opponents ie Majin Buuhan and Zamasu. While you look at Gogeta he technically has a 2 to 1 ratio over his opponents those being Janemba (Movie 12) his debut, Broly (Officially Canon debut), and Omega Shenlong (Didn't win Due to the time limit).

For Gogeta? maybe since thats a mortal technique. for Vegito probably need the super dragonballs. but doesn't really matter since ANYONE can become a kai from training according to trunks unlocking healing powers in the manga from simply being trained to be an apprentice. him gaining healing powers sorta indicates theres a ritual that can make you classified as an actual supreme kai and thus would allow potara to be atleast perma if Goku or Vegeta under took said ritual but they would never.

I think different types of fusions have different types of effects on the fused persona, showing moves, hair, outfit, etc. I think metamoran fusion is more mystical as the clothing comes with the transformation. Also since Vegeta didn't want to do metamoran due to embarrasment I think Gogeta is more Goku. Vegito was potara fusion and I think that one isn't necessarily more Vegita, I think it takes their normal states and evenly places their personalities into one, since they are both Sayans that like fighting this alone accounts for the extra cockyness. I think if Vegito and Gogeta met they would not be the same entity each is distinct in how they are.

I always saw it like this personality wise: Vegito adds the personalities together, Gogeta averages them out. Vegito is a 2 gallon bucket, Gogeta a 1 gallon bucket. Vegtio gets Goku's playfulness mixed with Vegeta's desire to play with his food. Their arrogance, however little Goku does have, is also added, leading to Vegito just humiliating his opponent. Gogeta however, is somewhere between Vegeta and Goku in terms of arrogance and significantly less playful than both. He's more relaxed that Vegeta and more tense than Goku. But their desires to see their opponent grow? Both of them feel it the same amount, but it presents in different ways as demonstrated in the contrast between the Frieza and Cell arcs. That's why Gogeta seems to "play with his food" while fighting Broly. You can see the moment Gogeta realized Broly was at his limit, he went for the kill. Nothing left to see here, everything's been explored. Broly is as they have seen.

technically yeah they are if they were just the merge of goku and vegeta but not really since they merge to become a new being. like they say "i am goku nor vegeta". which implies that this is a brand new being that is a mix of goku and vegeta. so like if they had a baby (ik it sounds cursed but blame him for making it like that.) but one is better then the other which is vegeto. in lore he has more strength. with gogeta not as strong or having a strong enough power boost to keep up. especially with the timer which lasts for 30 mins (or 15 in ss4) but potara fusion lasts forever. there is a personality difference cuz u can see it in the way they carry themselves, the techniques they use, the moves they use and how they react to stuff. i get that they sometimes seem the same but it is still a mix of goku and vegeta. it's like brothers. best term i could think of. there like 2 brothers. in some ways there the same but in a lot of ways they are completely different to one another. but since there not here for long they can't show it much. which is great for climactic battles that look awesome but no so great on if they have the same personality for some but i think once u look at both and how they are u can see how diff they are i mean it WAS forever until they retconned it with god ki being able to split them like buu. which i hate. it gave the importance of that type of fusion. that once they fused they could never go back. so it put some stakes on. but now they can put it on whenever and just be fine. i get it. and i'm not that mad just like... why? they could have already done that with buu really since he's still around. and we know they can split. so it's just weird to me. i would think those earrings could withstand god ki. i do think ssg blue vegeto is cool though. but personally i'm a gogeta fan all the way. love his personality, fighting style and moves way more. hell i even main him in dbfz he's the one that carries. i don't know anyone better then him in that game to play as for me. i'm too familiar with him now.
