Got a '12 F-150. Had a 06 Ranger and would have kept that and kept repairing it if not for the need to pull a trailer beyond it's abilities. Now that I have the F-150, I'm gonna keep it until I can't repair it anymore. Everything I've heard about the 2020s and newer makes me think I'll never buy another Ford again. And you're absolutely right that the worst thing you can do to a vehicle is let it sit, both for depreciation but also valves and gaskets, etc, dry up and then things start blowing up from there. Do maintenance, do oil changes especially every 5K and your vehicle will generally keep going.

I'm with you. I have owned Toyota/Lexus 3.5L V6 with a 6-speed for decades because they have proven to be the most reliable engines ever made. My parents own an 06 avalon that has had a small oil leak for 10 years. I need a truck with power and have landed in the Powerstroke camp. But, How to I keep this thing forever without having to spend my lifesaving on repairing things Ford should have addressed when designing it? Great Content, Subscribed!

Thank you for sharing your experiences and point of view. I have a '21 P/S and hoping for a long life for it. Just sarted using Archoil for fuel and engine oil. I also like your posotive attitude. Good luck on your mission.

I have a 2018 F250 powerstroke with 306,000 on it. Bought it new so I’m the only owner. Yes I have had repairs but it’s worth doing them because of the price of a new truck. I’m also a RV transporter so keeping them moving is the way to go.

Thanks for the comment. That’s impressive. It does seem like keeping a truck for a while is the best way to get your moneys worth. Who are you hauling for these days?

I wouldn't be so sure about the new parts. My dad has a 2007 2nd gen Octavia, which currently sits at 320k km. The only thing that ever broke, was the AC compressor a few years ago and a rubber hose about a month ago.

Enjoying your enthusiasm on this journey. Thanks for. helping us all. Barely 54K on the 2018 Plati, second owner. Mine is a summer travel trailer king. Hides in garage over winter. Cheers!

My 2012 f250 6.2 gasser just crossed 300k miles! Hoping to make it to a half million in it. My 19 powerstroke work truck only has 79k still a baby

That's impressive! Did you buy the 6.2 new?
@alexh104 ай бұрын
@@powerstrokemaintenance I purchased it from my work after it was retired! Only repair it’s had is the common valve spring break on the 6.2s replaced one valve and spring and it’s been bulletproof since still original transmission T case and diffs

You're definitely on the right track to longevity on your truck. Keeping them moving seems to the trick. I think posted on another one your videos that I have a buddy with a 2016 with over 200K on the clock and he tows a dump trailer daily. He only does maintenance when the computer tells him. I know some people have some issues that may cost a lot but I think the majority are totally fine.

Agreed, well said! Keeping the trucks moving and working is one of the best things you can do.

Well just wait until you have a moderate engine repair. These power strokes are awesome but avg repair is 5 to 12 grand .

Is that the national average or just a number you pulled out of a hat?

I mean, how much is a new truck? A truck that may or may not end up being a lemon, itself? Once you get the truck repaired, it's got new components in it.

In two years I spent 6 grand on a well maintained stroke. So .....
