I’ve never been a gym, goer or weightlifter, and now at age 38 and seeing everyone I love fall apart physically… I’m realizing what I’ve been missing. I’m so thankful I stumbled upon the mind pump show. You guys have changed my life. Going into phase 2 of anabolic, and it has been an amazing journey so far, watching my body slowly change and notice my strength improve like I never thought was possible. I am in no rush, my finish line is when I die. Thank you for educating me on how to get into the best shape of my life… for the rest of my life.

Fall in love with the process - there’s a reason I heard this today and it doesn’t even have anything to do with my fitness (avid user of MAPS Aesthetics btw). I’m a writer and sometimes your work gets rejected, sometimes praised. This principle I think is so applicable to work as well not just fitness. Thanks a lot for sharing ❤❤

I started working out again last June and am down from 237 to 207 this morning. I have done this before and always gained the weight back. This time I have been focusing on how I feel health wise and only use the scale as a reference point instead of marker. This has kept me motivated and looking forward to going to the gym every day after work regardless of how good or bad my day was. This video was perfectly timed for reminding me to keep focusing long term not for the next short term goal.

I love Justin's comment about compounding benefits of the steps along the journey. Showing up to the process day after day is investment in myself. The returns on my investment compound over and over. The outcomes are deeper and broader than my initial goal. I have the courage and confidence to invest in myself in other areas of life (relationships, work, spiritual growth, community involvement).

This new year was special for me. All the other years I always had the mindset that I need to diet and train and loose a ton of weight but during 2023 I lost most of the weight and got really strong due to strength training. So this new year for the first time my goal was no longer to loose weight or start a diet. This year I just had to continue my good habits and way of life. It felt kind of mindblowing 😃😃 Thank you for a great show ❤ you guys are amazing. Always listen to you while strength training 💪

I love what was shared about moving into a teaching role and getting to relive the experience of improving health and performance! For me, as a nutrition coach and trainer, learning new things to be able to teach to others certainly keeps me more connected to my goals. As well as being in a constant state of purposefulness and creativeness. Maybe a specific movement has been challenging, (squats and lunges, I'm looking at you). Being able to enter the gym and try small adjustments to improve form is gratifying. Or, taking what was once a less nutrient-dense recipe and turning it into something that supports my health goals feels like a win. Then, I get the opportunity to pass this along to others!

I've been racing for 35 years and was a fitness coach and the reason I saw so many people stop after reaching their goals was the amount of time and effort needed to reach those goals, especially if the goal was a stretch. They would put a lot of their life on the backburner, avoid social engagements and give up some things they enjoyed. We need to find balance. It's great to be focused on one goal for a while, but especially with health and fitness, it's okay to have smaller goals or to just be in maintence mode. I sometimes train for a marathon, then to get faster in a 5K or just to enjoy running with no goals.

I felt relief, but not as much joy as I had expected. I've since learned to love the process. I'll judge myself by my performance, on my own terms. Not just by accomplishment.

The episode y’all did with Steve cook even talked about this. About the depression post show because the “goal” is done and there is a period of not knowing what to do. In 2020 I hired a coach. Went from 150 to 125 in 2.5 months eating whole foods and a carb cycling meal plan. Weight trained (which I've always LOVED) 3-5 days a week. Hit my goal, was put into maintenance calories. "I made it! I'm cured! I did it!" That was my mentality. That is why I failed, and I'm currently back at square 1 doing it all over again. Gotta get that mentality in check just as much as everything else.

I started getting physically stressed and mentally doubting myself, but this is reminding me how much I've learned these past 7.5 months and how much more I know and understand the material. I just came across you guys about a week ago & I have been binge watching/listening to you on my walks & workouts. I finally hit my protein intake yesterday. I was actually over. I weigh 138 but hit 145g's. The next 5 days I'm doing 20hr intermittent fasting. So I'm not working out and just walking 20k steps. I cannot workout b4 breaking my fast cuz I get shaky. I need to eat first. I lost 12 lbs since Dec 14. But I can also tell I've gained muscle. I've lost 1/2 inch around 2 weeks ago when I measured. I probably lost more since, but I'm gonna wait 2 more weeks b4 I measure.

BTW, I have a goal to hit 130 or 135 lbs. But I am just enjoying working out daily. I look forward to the HydroMassage at the Gym. I also like being able to lift heavier the more I go. I find from Fri to Mon, waiting 3 days, having 2 days rest, I can lift heavier as opposed to only 1 day of rest in between.

It's THANKFUL people that are HAPPY, and not Happy people that are Thankful. I thank my God for each day, for my Delicious, Nutritious food, for HydroMassage. I thank him each time I finish Strength Training. I even have to ask Him for help to do it... bcuz the flesh is weak. I get anxious about Strength Training, thinking it's gonna be so hard. But I pray & I have fun, doing it while listening to your videos. I feel better after & I'm thankful I stuck to it. I think when I get to my goal weight, I won't get depressed, but work on lifting more. There's always something we can do. There's so much we can be thankful for. I enjoy the small, as well as the big things. But people tend to lose focus. The Lord keeps me grounded & focused. I'm thankful I have an apartment I can afford & the dirty dishes my daughter makes. Bcuz that means we have food to eat, that others cannot afford. I'm thankful I found this Channel. God Bless you guys & your supportive wives.

The ego doesn't want a certain thing, a goal to attain. It just wants to want. So once you fixate on the goal, if you're not very aware of that ego in you, you'll become dissatisfied and start searching for the next thing. And god help you if there just isn't anything left to achieve or attain.

Your discussion of accomplishing goals, and hitting these milestones having the ability to cause depression, made me think about empty nest and mom’s. This is probably why it’s so hard when the kids finally leave for good. Our whole identity is wrapped up in being parents. Incredibly important, amazing and difficult transition to make, I’m sure.
