I do believe in the "Just let people enjoy things" but I don't think that means you can't criticize things, like you said, sometimes it's too much. Yeah ignoring any negativity is bad. But sometimes if a person enjoy something genuinely, let them. Like I can already imagine how many people might have made a comment in a pokémon related tweet/video about how they liked SW/SH only for some dickhead to just start shitting on that person, saying they have poor taste, or they're not a real pokémon fan or whatever. Like I said, criticizing, or even being negative of something is FINE! But you should still let people enjoy things.

That exact same thing happened to me, the dexit conversation got so toxic that I took several breaks from the internet, I was turning apathetic to pokemon as a whole, but then I learned to ignore and make fun of crazy pokemon fans and then legends arceus unironically made me fall in love with mainline games again and look foward the future franchise in a positive way. Currently idk if I will get S/V but it looks promising, also making fun of crazy pokemon fans is so cathartic, maybe you should try it

Oh my god, I still remember all the outrage over the day Attack on Titan switched animation studios from Wit to Mappa, and people started literally harassing the staff just because the animation wasn't as perfect as it used to be. (Even though the animation is still pretty good.)

Basically Dexit did to your love for Pokémon what The Fandom Menace did to my love for Star Wars. Including the part where they actively make me feel ashamed of being a Star Wars fan. Now, I know that it gets talked a lot, to the point where you literally cannot escape the whole SW debalce. I mean people are still bitching about the Sequels to this day, even in videos that had nothing to do with it. (Like this one lol) BUT... I just wanted to point out how similar these two things feel to me. The paralels if you will. Just shows that this poison of being overly critic of everything and taking franchises WAY MORE SERIOUSLY THAN ANY REASONABLE HUMAN BEING SHOULD has spread to many other franchises/fandoms as well. Like seriously guys, I get you don't like x thing in y franchise, but you don't need to talk about it 24/7 in every opportunity to the point where it feels like your entire personality is based on your hatred of x thing. It's just sad, like criticism is fine, but like you said, some people take it to far. (Although honestly when it get to the point where you harass people involved in a media, then it's no longer criticism, it's just you being an asshole.)
