I LOVED that run up!! Hahahahaha!! Reminded me of the "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" attack on the guards by Launcelot when he just kept running, but not getting any closer (only in reverse since you still threw it short)!! Too funny!

I was hoping that was what he was going for when he started running. Still wicked funny. though I think Conrad's run up is a little longer than that.

I went out an implemented some of the suggestions in this and the previous video in the sequence. I was cranking on a destroyer to get it up to 250ft. Went and purchased an eagle, and a blizzard wraith. This pushed my max drive up to 320+, with way less effort on my throws. I also started to focus more on being fluid with my body mechanics.

"I need to start further back." 🤣, love it! I've actually eliminated my run up for the time being so I can focus more on my timing and form. For the 3 years I've been playing everyone has told me my form makes them want to throw up... Finally starting to change that and it only took shoulder surgery to convince me of this lol. I look forward to part 3 of this series!!

Yeah, I started with a stand still, then a one step, now I’m at 3 steps and people tell me that my form looks good so being patient definitely pays off. Took about 2 months, but I was also a pretty new player so didn’t have many bad habits to unlearn.

Thank you for the content! I've been playing more seriously the last four years and thanks to your content I've recently had a backhand distance breakthrough. I've slowed my x-step WAY DOWN and the only thing I think about/focus on is a my target in the distance. This, along with a very short consistent pre-shot routine that reinforces a very loose arm and flat wrist release has made the difference. If my brain is involved at all it's unbelievable how much it slows down the natural sling of my body/arm!

After a lot of not so great throws I realized what I was doing, but I'm hard plateaued at 400 ft and I'm sure it's due to my timing, which I have no idea how to really address. Love the new video!! I've been following you for a while, but I don't think I've ever heard you talk about newer players starting out with a no run up throw? I've met a bunch of golfers who have sworn by this, and I've kind of incorporated that into my throw. I basically just do a shorter, just go into a x step then throw with no real run up to speak of. Just wondering your thought! Love ya man!

I just played a stand still only round and was getting 50 ft more on average controlled distance and a LOT more spin. Definitely going to have to practice timing with the shorter steps at the beginning of the run up so I don't lose that gained distance, control, and spin.
@shrapnel77
@shrapnel77 2 жыл бұрын
Standstills are a big part of my game because of my age (53), knee surgeries and I lose correct form from bad timing, overreaching and sloppy ass footwork. I almost always throw longer on my standstills than run-ups because of the breakdown in my form. At least I can reliably get 300-350 on my throws, but it would be nice to get the extra 50-75 feet. Accuracy is more important, but if you increase your arm speed, you can hit your lines more effectively.
@Just_Gl1tch
@Just_Gl1tch 2 жыл бұрын
One thing that could be making some people lose disc speed is leading with your shoulders. The whole point of this form is to make your body behave like a whip so you really need to make sure your arm goes first and your body follows after. I've only been playing a year and a half now and I throw 500ft now so maybe try practicing with this mindset and see if it works out

Something that has been a question of mine for some time: Does a fast walkup equate to longer distance? Right now I'm moving very slow through the box, but it's gained me another 50 feet. Someday, when my timing is perfect, ok... better, much better, should I increase speed? Is that what I should be working towards now?

Another thing I think people over look is the tension in your forearm. I think people really try grip and rip when throwing and really tense up their arm. In reality yes you need a strong grip, but you should keep your arm elastic as to be able to release the disc well and actually apply the lag you generate into your throw!

How realistic is 400+ for most people, in reality? I feel like I’ve made huge gains over the past year and went from sub 300 to averaging about 350 and maybe getting 375 when everything just feels perfect. I feel like to really go much beyond that i have to actually work out and get stronger, so maybe those kind of distances truly are for the legit athletes (or those weird lanky people😂). Maybe i should just be happy i throw as far as i do, while only practicing/playing a couple times a week. But this sport is all about improvement and never being satisfied so you KNOW i just wanna crush it lol.
