Do you sometimes feel that you should change careers and you're scared ? Prof. Srinath Reddy was at the epitome of Cardiology when he was the Head of Department at AIIMS Delhi and was also the President of World Heart Federation from where he decided to shift careers from individual health to Public Health. Today he serves at the President of Public Health Foundation Of India. Prof. K. Srinath Reddy is a Padma Bhushan Awardee, presently President of Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and formerly headed the Department of Cardiology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He is also the President of World Heart Federation. He was appointed as the First Bernard Lown Visiting Professor of Cardiovascular Health at the Harvard School of Public Health in 2009. He is also an Adjunct Professor of the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University and Honorary Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney. PHFI is engaged in capacity building in Public Health in India through education, training, research, policy development, health communication and advocacy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

The biggest challenge is to make Public Health attractive to healthcare practitioners. Monetizing (commercializing) Public Health will definitely go a very long way in changing attitudes and bringing about the much needed switch from Complications Management to disease prevention. The brain power of our brightest minds needs to pivot towards prevention solutions.

Highly benefited with the information. We need more such public health experts for prevention than treatment

Thank you Prof for this most important presentation! Most clinical specialties focus on the business of “complications management” and little to no focus on Nutrition (I.e Prevention). I’m an Anaesthesiologist who has also fallen in love with Public Health Nutrition. Medical School needs a complete recalibration‼️

Nearly three decades ago, Prof K Srinath Reddy realised that he can speak very well. So, he smartly & cleverly took a bold decision: ditched the labour intensive profession of Cardiology and made a midlife switch to public health & public speaking. Since then he has been speaking, speaking & only speaking and doing nothing else. Thus, he earned his perch in the coveted realm of celebritihood. Well deserved & well earned, no doubt. But PULLEEEEASE don't get carried away, whatever he says, means nothing. Enjoy his stage performances like those of a performing artist but do not try to find any meaningful, practicable content in that.

@@sollywolly-pie8140 point out one single meaningful content in this talk of Dr Reddy, or in any other talk of Dr Reddy, for that matter. I challenge you that howsoever much you may try, you'll not be able to find any. You THINK that there IS meaningful content herein, because you are mentally lazy, accepting things at face value.
