Nuclear waste will be the biggest issue for Africa, Africa should focus on clean energy infrastructure before dealing with nuclear plants, they should see that nuclear plants are a problem in other country and is not as clean as renewables. But the reason Ethiopia was the only country in Africa that resisted and succeeded in staying independent from being colonized was because the Russia provided them with modern weapons and strategic knowledge of modern warfare at the time. And later on in history the Soviet Union, with China, provided the capitol to most movement in Africa, that brought about "the wind of change" which effectively ended European colonization, not just in Africa but everywhere else in the world. Just food for thought!!! Most of my life I was taught that the Soviet Union was bad, bit learning this part of history, i found it interesting.

My question would be, can Africa change its destiny? It would seem that it as a continent is so traumatized by the effects of colonialism it remains unable to formulate a strategy of unity of all African countries, for it should be clear to the leadership there dealings with foreign countries who in themselves are large and operate collectively despite their internal ethical, religious and cultural diversity they trade on the continent with individual countries whos GDP are small and bargaining power compromised further by the economic instabilities as a whole. Let's talk objectively: Africa has huge growth potential, but it is hopelessly behind in technology. And the speech here, first of all, is not even about engineering technologies (which can be obtained or adopted, stolen as a last resort), but rather about social technologies. African elites are absolutely incapable of playing serious geopolitics. Basically, they are corrupt and care about their personal interests; they do not have strategies for the long-term development of their countries. This is a tragedy, as they will always be secondary and play by someone else's rules. And when you play by someone else's rules, especially with geopolitical sharpers such as the United States, Russia and China, you simply have no mathematical chance of winning. Since the video is about Russia's interests in Africa, let's talk about it. Of the three global players, Russia is now the most economically weak. However, it is the only one that delivers a unique product: the security and legitimation of any regimes against the influence of other players. This is a unique but highly toxic product. Russia is the only one who is really able to solve ABSOLUTELY any security problems: from hacker attacks on shadow assets (including hidden financial accounts), to problems with various insurgents and extremists. The key question is what will she demand in return. It is very important to understand here that, unlike China, the United States and the Western world as a whole have fewer and fewer real levers of influence on Russia every day (in fact, apart from infringing on the interests of certain Russian corrupt leaders who keep their funds in Western banks, there are practically none) ... This makes it possible for Russia to pursue virtually any policy. An example of the annexation of Crimea (a region in Ukraine where the Russian fleet was previously stationed) is obvious here. Even China, with all its economic might (and in fact, it also really wants to annex Taiwan), cannot afford this, but so far it has not dared to openly annex it. But the Russians do this and, apart from the sanctions that mean little to them, in fact, receive nothing in return. Now let's think, what is the bulet in Africa in such a situation. Russia is able to protect from overthrow any regime, even the most hated by the local population, as long as it is beneficial to it (look at Syria). And since most of the regimes in Africa are openly corrupt and anti-popular, the growth of Russian influence: a) Will contribute to further stagnation; b) It can create chaos if the Russians, with sufficient penetration into the institutions of power, want to change the regime and put up their puppet (look at the CAR). These are the main negative aspects. Let's move on to the positive ones. Unlike, for example, China, the Russians in joint projects with them provide real opportunities for the local population to earn money (they will not massively import their workers). Russians do share technology and do not impose unwarranted sanctions for political reasons. If the country is stable enough, then they are unlikely to artificially shake the internal situation in their own interests (as, for example, France is very fond of doing this). Today, Russians in Africa are primarily interested in concessions for the joint development of various deposits, the arms market, transport and logistics projects, tourism, agriculture, mutual food supplies, the education market, Internet services and the banking sector. In general, Russia should be treated with caution, but it can become a good alternative to Western and Chinese influence. The main thing is not to give them leverage on internal political processes, otherwise any African country risks plunging into a series of acute internal social conflicts (this is also true for Europe and the United States). It must be remembered that the Russians are very interested in selling their weapons. War is their bread.

maybe if you ask " What does anyone wants from Africa?" that may make sense, in fact, that we should analyze this as a necessity it is most for Africa getting more out of this then Russian's getting from Africa. Africa gets a very competitive price for the same products that western countries offer, Russians offer is most attractive offer that Russia can offer to African continent and securing their needs been worth their investment, saying that , African governments could rely on Russians and Chinese then their Western counterpart, as the West always created an environment of corruption so they end get much more they offer so do Russians need resources in future development as they steam full throttle in that direction too. African's should stop finding reason Russia , China or any other countries want out of any deals they make in any business, instead they should stop finding a scape goat for their failiour in developing their own country as "they" have the rescources under their own feet but no Technology so instead hiring the technology work for them they failing to use that rescource every and each time to create a strong stabil government . Every war lord is after his own interest and pocket and they will use any mean even if they have to sacrifize their own people to fight for him or her with cheapest promises just to become next president in power to do exactly what his predecesor was doing " Stealing peoples wealth and banking in foreign countries hose lobiest money coming to his or her way to build a palace or luxury life he or she believes they entitled too and forgetting how maney people fought for him or her and lost their life in beginning for a free and independant Africa with a strong and educated African, so one day they stop looking at other countries to immigrate or ask for help. YOU HAVE THE POWER IN YOUR HAND NOW ,USE IT as it is best for Africa and not for other nations. Russia like any other country selling what it is in their hand as just a product like maney others that you may need ,how difficult it is to see all benefits and foe's?
