Rimiru was the first Isekai character who wasn't simply OP, he gave me a reason to be okay with an MC being OP at all. I've seen many anime Isekai or not and hated the MC becoming OP solely by plot and did little to earn it, and Rimiru is a very refreshing take on the whole genre that I have seen in both sub and dub several times

@hemantjain2387 I think it's okay though, because when Otherworlders go to that world they get abilities like him, so it makes sense to me. Also they reason why he is stronger at the beginning is because of the name he got from Veldora making him not as weak as he would have been. Also the best way to survive in the Tensura World is to get protection from a Demon Lord. It does show that he isn't invincible when Falmuth invaded and Hinata kept Rimuru occupied.

Before watching the anime I was not impressed by the title but since it's an isekai genre I gave it s try, the snime literally blew my mind and just into 4 episodes I became a fan of the anime. But I'm glad I decided to watch it after the second season 1st pat was completed. It would have been soooooo frustrating to wait for new episodes to release.

Nice video Tensura is also my fav anime out there. the only thing I find sometimes annoying is the overly causticness of Rimuru....there will be ähmmm* something along those lines in season 3, no spoilers there, but I think the best example is: WARNING SPOILER for something at would happen in a potential season 4-5 the fight with 2 Empirical Gards that pretended to be Masayukis friends (Berni and Clad....I think) they had only a ultimate enchantment (something like a Ultimate skill about generally weaker than that, but stronger than a Uniqe Skill) and Rimuru was f* to scared to fight them and end the fight in a faction of a second and shortly after he wipes the floor with a mind controlled Velgyned and Veldora with ez

Oh and one more (mainly applying to the anime) it kind of goes with the overpowered but balanced section. I love how strong he is but i also love how one wrong move and he could get folded. Also, the ending of wn... it was coincidence that he won, you can't deny that... But! it's not that I hate rimuru, I love him but just felt like stating the facts! Of course I like Rudeus more but he also had a lot more mana than normal due to lapace's fragment... so to each their own. Thank god, you added that part at char dev section end and thank god I watched the whole vid before commenting... Also little garden is one of the best world out there is all anime, if I am solely talking about 'worlds' so I loved that Izayoi was remembered! I love Ainz, and a lot of Isekai protag, but the biggest difference is inteliggence. So many characters I see start as clueless idiots, and hold it the whole seriees as a gag. And in some cases that's perfect for a light harded fun watch. But from a character invetement it just does not deliver.

Nope not even close brother, when the show starts out rimuru is pretty weak, and he most definitely wasn't unbeatable, keep in mind that rimuru only got to the level of a demon Lord after defeating the orc disaster, which basically means he was vulnerable to the demonlords, except for clayman cause he's just fauder, even when he just met millim it was stated that she was 10 times stronger than him when she wasn't even trying. So in the beginning, yes he started out week but got strong incredibly quickly

Nice vid but you got few things wrong. First of all, Veldora, if he puts his mind into it, can destroy worlds with his aura lone. Second, Rimuru got 4 ult skills but those aren't representative of his overall power level. Guy can kick Rimuru's ass without much issue even without using his own skill. And third, don't look at power scaling. That multiversal rating is based on the end of the WN and it no longer is canon. Rimuru in the anime and manga is universal at best.

I'm around 1/4 of the video and I'm a bit confused. By "The Best" you meant the strongest? Because if not then what amount of skills or powerful allies even have to do with anything? Now my thoughts after watching. I agree with the point about how he looks, it is one of more interesting ones. Original death? I guess? But I don't think that has much to do with whatever he is good character or not. Also I feel like currently truck-kun is not that common, death from overwork is lately pretty popular. Him being weak at the begging would be a great point if he faced any consequences of his weakness. But he didn't. He wasn't even weak by episode two(or like in the middle of ep1 I don't remember exactly) Strong allies. As I said before I can't see how that's even remotely related to being good character. The same for number of any kind of skills. Adapting to position of a leader and him having to suffer consequences of being naive are really great points. But that's not really that rare and you yourself said that there are two characters better at this than him. Two characters are better than him in your best point. That still makes him good character but hardly the best. Being overpowered. Another one that has absolutely no connection to being good character. Also he doesn't have power like that in anime. Also even with power like that there is one character(that I consider a joke in any power scaling discussion) Yogiri Takatou(he's just written to be stronger than anyone no matter what so no point in discussing him). Being balanced. That is also good point but most good isekais are balanced or have story that doesn't even focus on fights enough for power balance to be needed. So that is good point but it's pretty common. I hope you are joking by putting shadow as comparison. Arguing that characters is the best because has better balance than mc of parody of parody of isekai is just silly. So basically the only point of the video worth mentioning are adapting to development(position of leader and suffering because of naivety), balance and design. He is good but there is too little to say he is the best. Design is minor thing if character meets absolute minimum of not being black haired kirito looking edgelord. Balance is a bit good point but almost all good isekais have good balance and I would argue that balance is irrelevant in whatever character is good or not if there is something else that provides struggles for character(ex One Punch Man). As for development that is the best point, you yourself said that there are characters that are better than him at this and this two things are not a lot. He got punished for being naive one time and started putting on tough front sometimes. My final thoughts. You focus so much on very surface level thing that I think you don't know what being good character actually means.

i cant see how youd think that but id like to think i have a good understanding of what makes a good charachter. or it could simply be that we have different ideas of what a good charachter is. My idea of a good charachter is one that we can see not only change but develop over to period of the series wether it be positive(eg.Rudeus) or negative(eg.someone like shigaraki. and as for everything ill explain as best as i can. Despite what you think the appearance of a charachter mean alot to me when were talking about a good charachter.I dont think id do a good job of putting it into words but the simplest way i can put it is that someone like rudeus who in my opinion has better development than rimuru, is outshined by him (FOR ME PERSONALY) because of not just his appearance in the sence of not only how unique it is but also the fact that it has a meaning and story to it that continues to unravel right through the series. that and also the fact that it has the potential to look either cute or baddass depending on the situation, but also because of his strength. Which brings me to my next point you said you dont understand how a charachters abilities relate to them being good. When i compare rimuru to someone like Subaru, and the huge difference in there combat capabilities i simply enjoy seeing a charachter win most of their battles instead of loosing or winning in a pathetic manner.Im not saying that make subaru a bad charachter because his story is different from rimuru but im just giving examples. And while rimuru may not be the strongest he is definetly easily one of the strongest. After your explanation even though my stance about Rimuru doesn't change much I see now that we just took different measures to see if character is good. I try to some extent separate being good and being enjoyable because I've enjoyed some really shallow characters even though I knew they were below average. You are right that I am undervaluing how character looks. More original ideas will be more enjoyable. Just character not being human opens many interesting possibilities in terms of struggles and plotlines. About character's strength I also like op characters but things that are matter of taste I just leave for explanations why I like something not why something is good. Trying to prove that something is good based on things that are matter of taste leads too often to someone getting angry because they don't like that. I don't like people confusing 'being good' with 'liking something'. Things like "I like sao so it was good" or "I don't like aot so it was bad". There are some more or less objective things we can judge by and there are purely preferential ones. I prefer to separate it by leaving purely preferential points out of discussion about how good something is but I guess for youtuber angry comments like "but I dont like it, how dare you to like it" are type of engagement so there are some positives in this XD But to be frank I probably analyzed and answered so extensively because I don't really like rimuru that much. I like him a bit but except Falmuths(i dont know how to write that) invasion arc whole tensura is a bit boring for me. Sometimes it's nice to watch slice of life but stories like that are not ones I rewatch time after time. As example of this would be that I thing slime is better than arifureta but I watched slime twice while arifureta around 7 times. If whole slime was like Falmuths invasion and valprugis I would be LN reader already but proportion of this to slice of life parts is not how I like it.

nice vid. altough there are a few characters that beat him in power. first of anos and rimuru are about equal. anos might even be a tad stronger but its a fifty fifty in a true fight, but people like featherine or hajun have him beat handedly. or truth from fma. there are not many that beat him in animanga but there is a good handful that could wipe the floor with him. there is also that kid that has the power to rewrite all reality and fiction and shit. and full power gilgamesh who can essentially erase him

Idk if he is the best, but he is good at what he is supposed to be. But tbf, so is Ainz, Shadow and some others. Shadow is a good example, because although he is WAY less developed than Rimuru, Ainz, Subaru or most of the protagonists he doesn’t need to. His anime is made to be funny, not serious. If Shadow was as developed as Rimuru, he would actually be a worse protagonist. There is no such thing as a good protagonist without taking in context the show he is into. Same goes to Kazuma. He is meant to be a piece of shit. If he was a responsible good hero Kono suba wouldn’t be Kono suba. That’s why I think it’s hard to say something is objectively the best in a genre that is not even a true genre (Isekai is just “get transported to another world”, it could be for the purpose of action, romance, comedy, adventure, terror, or any other genre, and each of them is hard to compare with one another without getting subjective).

The Author gonna focus on his surrounding more than him because when you has OP protagonist you need to focus on something different for the meantime. Op protagonist always has development at the end of the volume. Also, Eminence is more dark than Slime overall. It only has goofball MC in it. He literally needs to be a bit one dimensional, because the moment he becomes self aware and actually develops his flaw (aka treating everything like it’s part of a conspiracy theory) his character literally dies. Shadow is not like Saitama at all, the only close part is the OP part. Saitama can be developed because he is a character with driving goal that’s understandable, the comic part is the other things surrounding him. Developing Saitama does nothing to his comic part (the baldness, the OPness, the fact that he is basically a god but is more worried about the groceries), which is the main part of a comedy show. Shadow is funny BECAUSE he is delusional. The moment he is not delusional anymore the manga will get so much worse, that’s because he needs to be “shallow”. That’s not a bad thing at all though. The autor knows this, and keeps him that way while developing seriousness with the things around him. He is the perfect protagonist for his purpose, that being making fun of OP, cool, edgy characters. Developing him would make the story take itself WAY too seriously, which would kill it’s premise.

That only minority fans that will feel like that, while the true fans of the series will accept what the author is planning for his series. Cid is the author himself, he write Eminence because he was acting like that before and want to see what he actually looks like from a different POV. Some people may lost interest in the series if Cid ever develop but they need to accept that it will happen one day because Eminence is not pure comedy. Even konosuba that is pure comedy has kazuma develop for his character. Cid is not a gag character or what, he the author himself, that meant he will has development for him in future and this is beginning of his fantasy. Let enjoy Cid roleplay to the fullest before turning point hit. Also, it funny you said manga because it blatantly stated that Eminence adapt the LN and the Game.

Rimiru is not OP at all, unless your only assessment is based in Anime, I read the light novel to its latest chapter and oh boy. Just imagine that everytime Rimiru has a upgrade, next moment, he need to face a enemy with either equal or even powerful than him and it's not one character but a whole bunch. Spoiler: At the currenty stage of it's light novel, Rimuru is send by one of true dragon enemy to unkown ultiverse/dimention and he is now trying to get back to his universe. Even Ceil suggested to just create a universe where everything is present instead of finish a way back.

Nice, video, I think Goku is stronger then rimuru though, he created a black hole with his spirit bomb, though that was with the help of jiren. that was also far from his strongest point in the anime though .

I used to like Tensura and Rimuru a lot too but I dropped it after the Hinata fight. The fact he gets everything handed to him was a big let down for me. He gets all of his power with minimal to no effort at every given opportunity. He doesn't even need to think and come up with strategies since he has Raphael to do all the thinknig for him. I'm not really into Overlord either but at least there Ainz actually worked for his abilities back when he was playing his game and it shows that he has great understanding and experinece of how they work and how to use them tactically. Rimuru isn't just overpowered he never has to deal with any consequences, Shion and all of his subordiantes that died where brought back so where are the stakes? After that moment of him being dark and vicoious the character development gets taken back and he goes back to being a peaceful boyscout. He frankly comes off as a mary sue through and through.

He just doesn't have a gender it's a point made very early in the show. Fun fact the writer wanted to make rimurus sex as ubiquitous as possible to avoid shipping with whoever in the series. Mind ya around the time this series was created people would get very ugly if their favorite pair wasn't romance send death threats and scoping out authors houses so makes sense that the author wanted to avoid that sort of outcome.
