A lot of people also don't understand that bodybuilders don't have great stamina. The weight of their muscles (muscle is heavier than fat) takes a lot of energy to move quickly and for extended periods of time. This is why weightlifters have that jacked-up physique while marathon runners are lean. Batman would require a balance of both and Pattinson's is a plausible look.

And also whats funny is it works as well because this YOUNG Bruce Wayne is clearly not mentally there He BARELY Eats, & barely sleeps so in this Hype realistic world Matt Reeves set up it makes so much sense that he'd be fit & not look like a fitness model. Also as someone who's been doing martial arts & fighting for over 24 years since childhood, I've seen, sparred & fought, MANY Different types of bodies. Some sculpted like George St Pierre, Some Pudgy like Tyson Fury, some who look like average joes with SCARY Knockout power. @@TidusX16 I only support what Pattinson did because it was healthier for him and I value human life over comic book accuracy. A common misunderstanding of the Batman character however is that he was ever intended to be "realistic". Historically throughout the comics the character has been mainly portrayed as peak human (by comic book standards not real world standards) and peak human is the same as what Captain America is supposed to be. The difference was always that Bruce reached that level through ridiculous training and will power. Think about how silly it would be to have Batman be held to a standard of realism while existing in a completely unrealistic world where no other character is held to the same standard. A realistic Batman would have a crime fighting career of 1 week tops. Corrupt cops and the mob out to get him. No way he doesn't get shot dead. Rooms full of goons with fully automatic weapons. Dead. Bane lands one punch on him while juiced. Dead. Deathstroke lands a punch. Dead. Killer Croc, Grundy, Clayface, Man Bat etc. Batman would have to execute every single fight to absolute perfection every night or be dead after one hit lands and perfect execution would be a more ridiculously unrealistic way to portray him than giving him incredible but less than super strength. A truly realistic Batman story would involve a very short lived career. Super powered beings would not exist in his world. A cop killer like Joker would not be a long time rival as he would be mercilessly killed by police especially the corrupt police of Gotham for all that he has done. A real Batman would use guns and most of the legend surrounding him would just be ppl telling ever changing stories about his short lived career before he was killed, disappeared or arrested.

I think part of what makes his physique work too is looking at how much bigger he gets when the suit is on. In the movie we see him take consecutive mags of SMG fire to the chest and walk through like it's nothing. Setting aside the comic book element, to do that I'm sure his suit has a crazy amount of padding and plating in it, thus the size increase. To wear and fight in that you honestly wouldn't want to be boddy builder size cause it'd just make it harder to move, but you would want the upper strength and leg strength and cardio to carry it all and fight in it all for lengths of time.

Robert Pattinson is probably the best live-action Batman that we're going to get, also probably the best acting one. Christian Bale was good, but in comparison he just feels too... tryhardy, I guess (which Will Arnett *wonderfully* capitalized on using it for his portrayal in the Lego movies)? And while I agree that it has some of the same problems that plague Superhero and Star Wars movies regarding its length, the cast make it work for the most part. Hard agree on Kevin Conroy, though! If you want my take on physique I think that Patterson’s build makes more sense to the fighting style of this Batman. In traditional martial arts having such a big brute physique takes away from the speed, balance, and elegancy of that style of marital arts. Gotta love the music from the opening of ''The Batman'' cartoon, I recognized that instantly in the background. I appreciate these types of videos informing people of the reality of muscles and looks, You do a great job explaining it. A lot of people, mostly those that don't know, associate being big and ripped with the ultimate, best thing a person can achieve or strive for, pretty much looking and training like a bodybuilder, but those people don't realize that bodies look completely different depending on what they're trained for, bodies built for pure strength, for looks, for acrobatics, for fighting, etc, they all look and function completely different from each other.

All of them had dad bod for the last decade and all are some of the most impactful mma fighters ever, and there are many more examples of this. Holywood obviously puts more emphasis on esthetics, but when they actually do some realism, they should be commended for it. Good job pointing to that. You can find an example to support almost any physique as a fighters body. Interestingly the reason for weight classes is because bigger fighters would have a huge advantage over smaller fighters. The streets don't have weight classes, so I would think heavyweight would be the physique you'd want to take on all comers.

@@Boogieman618 Sure, there's also that. In certain competitions the heavyweights can be known for their sloppy technique, lack of cardio and over-reliance on weight and power. You can definitely have weight, say, close to 100 kg, and have good cardio, flexibility and athleticism at the same time. There are really athletic heavyweights in MMA, for example, but heavyweights in general are not known for being the most athletic. The amount of weight you can carry in muscle or some fat depends on how much your body can carry without losing cardio, it's really personal. Some taller people have thinner bones, other people with more of a "normal" stature can have thicker bones, thicker organs by nature. It really depends on the person.

Honestly, I thought Pattinson's physique was fantastic for the grounded and realistic world they're portraying in this movie, and also for following a story about a Batman who's still early in his career and trying to find his footing. It's very much a "fighter's body", as you said, because the human body LOVES efficiency, so when you train to DO a specific thing, it will prioritize the muscles which are best FOR that specific thing; like the upper back/shoulders for punching, etc. In terms of my favourite big-screen Batman, Pattinson honestly takes that mantle as well; it's mostly the writing in this movie that does it for me, but his version of the character just felt so authentic to his comic book origins in a way that no other Batman ever really has (save MAYBE Bale, but I have some issues with his movies that keep him out of the top spot for me) and it just felt so validating and refreshing to finally see that, as a long-time comic book fan. This was a great video! I'm not a subscriber, I found your channel totally accidentally through KZbin's recommendations, but you've definitely made a regular viewer out of me going forward.

Hey Jax! So I was wondering - size is obviously really important if you want to be a more effective martial artist, so how could you build a routine around strength, size, and martial arts while balancing a day job? I loved the Bioneer's idea of doing workouts around a powerbuilding routine, but it really doesn't seem to leave a lot of time for martial arts, which is more of a daily thing.

In My Honest Opinion If you want to be a Better Fighter While Also Gaining Strength & Size and having a Day Job. You should split it up where you have days for Lifting & Days for Skill Work with MMA. IMHO I think if you try to lift like 5-6 days a week thatll be too much when you actively get stronger with around 2-3 days of Lifting & then the other times focus on Martial Arts Skill, Sparring & all that. With a 9-5 job that requires more dedication cause its on you to set up the times for yourself & making sure you REFUEL and get enough rest so take care of yourself.

Daily stretches, cardio, and sprint work to build up them fast fibers. (Your aesthetics/injury prevention) . 2-3 days of regular strength training. . 4-7 days of pure mma work. -this should be your main training -techinque and elegance/finesse It should be effortless to perform a move with decent speed/power. . . There's some variations but sleep/nutrition is important. . I think the most important part of this is realizing that you're not training to have a certain build. . You're training to become a constant. You're not doing this for looks but for the skill and ability to perform on the daily. . Now since you're not actually fighting crime as far as I'm willing to ask. Don't overwork yourself but push past the soreness. I was bored 1 week and overworked my calves and thighs to the point I couldn't walk normally. Weird thing was. Once I started working out again and built up a sweat I could feel my legs and walk normally again for like 10 min but afterwords if I didn't keep up the pace my legs would go back and make it so I'd be walking funny. After a week the soreness left and I felt lighter than ever. So keep at it fam dx . Also in relation to balancing a day job. . Try walking, or riding to work on some push vehicle(bike scooter sk8brd) *if possible . The daily mission to work builds up great stamina but if u need to drive I get that so good luck. But If u drove less u save money on gas. Either way Do your best n-n

Also try to get to work 1or 2 hours earlier than when ur shift starts. So u can do your daily stretches/cardio work. You're going to work anyways might as well get there earlier and do what u need to before u end up exhausted at the end of your shift. Plus it's easier than waking up early to work out. Technically u still wake up early but you're main objective is to arrive at work early on foot and do your stretches(/cardio) near work so when u go home u can focus on strength training and mma training.

Bale will probably always be my favorite both in his physique (which is a good middle ground between practical and aesthetic) and in his Ninja/tactics approach to making Batman feel more mythical rather than a Kick-Ass style vigilante patrolling streets. Also, Bale had physiques much closer to comic book Batman in movies like American Psycho and Equilibrium, before he did some permanent damage to it with The Machinist movie. He wasn't able to get back to his perfect build/body mass after that, but he was still great. This video was very illuminating cause I'm not a fitness expert so to me, I felt it was very humiliating how thin and not-cut Robert was to play Batman compared to Tom Holland who plays Spiderman. Like he had a build more fitting for Nightwing/Spiderman and even then he was less impressive, but he's also playing Batman atop of that, who's main image is that linebacker-esque comic book look. In my mind it was more important for a guy with no powers to look more imposing, I had no idea bigger guys get gassed easier and things like that. I felt like Robert kept being carried by his suit, which IS in line with that comic book frame and twice his mass/size, especially after the scene where he's shirtless pushing the table around, I couldn't believe they let him play Batman of all characters (despite his amazing acting). It seemed like he really didn't want to work out. So this was educational for me, thanks.

I can't believe I'm saying this because I still can't get over the fact that the guy from twilight is now batman...BUT all props to Patterson because he chose not to take P.E.Ds (the whole thing about him not training was reportedly about drugs use in preparation for the batman as many actors feel a pressure to do justice to comic book films due to there being a real translation issue put on actors to fit the illustrated versions of characters in real life.) I you made a really good point about the practical side of fighting and what the body actually requires for fighting and the ufc examples really hit the nail on the head. The other thing I thought was also that it actually works as in the film we find out its his 2nd year as batman from his journal so his build works in that sense as well I.e early days, his mastered combat now he will develop his body and get bigger as the years go on. Great vid bud will be subbing for sure oh and also I actually thought the film went by quick despite the actual time haha maybe just me ... but the need to pee was very real towards the end LOL
Would Baki/Kengan BODIES Be Good For Real Life Fighting?
