My husband and i experienced 4 years of infertility. My husband was diagnosed first with low count. We were told by his urologist ivf was our only option. I just didnt feel it was right for us. We also didnt have the money for it. I finally found a functional/ integrative practitioner who discovered i also had fertility issues caused by low progesterone causing me to not ovulate despite having a cycle. 6 months after my diagnosis i became pregnant. My husband was treated as well with proper nutrition. Conception through natural means is possible. I truly believe natural holistic medicine is the way to go, you just have to find the root problem and treat it.

Do NOT do IVF. IVF almost always involves abortion. They conceive multiple embryos (YOUR BABIES), who don't always survive, then if they do, "selective abortion" is done to make sure not TOO many survive. It's an intrinsically disordered act. All human life has a RIGHT to be conceived as a fruit of love in the context of marriage and natural conception.

Thank you for this! It makes us feel better about our decision to not go forward with IVF. We did 10 rounds of insemination & failed, but husband and I felt convicted and did not want to go forward IVF. It felt like playing God and having to chose which ones live or get destroyed if we had eggs that potentially got fertilized. Wonderful interview. My husband intuitively sensed the need for health and requested that I get to a healthy and strong weight before we tried to fall pregnant. Before both pregnancies I tried my best to eat whole foods and went to gym often for about a year. I fell pregnant within two months for both. I have since learned more and would integrate more animal foods and fats as well as sunshine if I were trying to fall pregnant again. There is actually a Christian, pro-life organization in Tennessee (National Embryo Donation Center) that is working to help families adopt frozen embryos. They are committed to honor and respecting all of these lives, and will not discard any live embryo. Couples with and without infertility can adopt, their goal is simply to give as many embryos as possible the chance to live that they deserve.

Who owns the embryos? Surely the women who's egg and the man who's sperm were used to create the embryo should own them. Don't they need their consent to take possession of them? Do you realise that they need a female's body to survive in? They're frozen, and no more alive than a frozen banana. Also, egg donation is particularly invasive and risky for the woman donating. It's pretty sick, really.

They can also decide how much contact they want with their biological child as they grow up (open vs closed adoption). For parents who have gone through ivf and are struggling with how to best honor these smallest lives that remain, it can be an answer to prayer, and a life affirming choice for their embryos and their entire family.

I have 2 children through IVF so its so hard to say that had I to do ot over again, I wouldn't. However, I felt pushed down this path within my fertility practice after many failed rounds of IUI. The hormones made me crazy, the 2 years of trying left me desperate and depressed. We had 3 embryos: 1 normal, 1 abnormal, 1 no-result. We initally transferred the normal and were blessed with our son. But that left us with the dilemma of the other two. We knew we wanted to transfer them, but NO doctors would let us transfer the abnormal along with the no result I actually called every single doctor within a 250 mile radius to ask and finally the very last one said "yes". That truly was a God thing because I prayed and trusted for years for this to work out. Long story short, we now have our daughter and I'm very grateful. I was treated with utmost care throughout the entire process. However, the doctors only know and prescribe this path. Its a very hard path with many unknowns and often results in embryos being unused.

Yeah I think that some adjustments could be made in the field of IVF but that ultimately it can be used in a very pure way and a way that is good. If only using the sperm and egg of a married couple, only making enough embryos that a woman could actually handle carrying to term, refusing to screen embryos for imperfections or discard them, and attempting a pregnancy with *every* embryo created so that it doesn’t remain in storage indefinitely - I think IVF is an amazing option for so many women suffering from infertility nowadays. I don’t see IVF in and of itself as the problem - I just think that some of the ways it’s implemented and used are problematic. Many souls have been incarnated into this world due to IVF….that’s a blessing, IMO. ❤ Congrats to you and your precious babies.

@@Breyerluvr4eva thank you. She is perfectly healthy and genetically normal based on further tests. Sometimes when they biopsy the embryos they dont get enough material for an accurate test. I implanted both but I assume the "no result " one was the baby that stuck. The abnormal had a missing and extra set of chromosomes. That specific type doesn't result in a pregnancy I was told, even with a disability (because that wouldn't matter to us). But I wanted to try anyway because it's God that decides who lives and I wanted to give her a chance (we knew it was a girl). I'm so glad we were able to use all of our embryos. Had I to it it over again, I wouldn't have screened them so I wouldn't have been denied by so many fertility practices.

Dr. Rubal, thank you for sharing your thoughts on IVF. You have a unique ability to speak on this from both a science and faith perspective. I have had concerns about the consequences of the remaining embryos. I've recently read Dr. Stephanie Seneff's book, senior MIT researcher, in glyohosate- I think this might be the primary or a key driving factor to the chronic disease rise across the board over the last 20 years.... maybe even driving a rise in Pcos- metabolic and hormone and microbiome factors. And the study that shows that women with PCOS are more likely to have austistic children. Anyway, I am going to work on avoiding and detoxing glyohosate and see if it helps my hormones and other things. Thank you for what you're sharing.

I met a couple who conceived twin babies through IVF. However they had leftover embryos. They didn't want anymore kids, but the husband was pro life and he refused to destroy the remaining embryos. So their embryos are still frozen and stored to this day, and they still don't know what to do with them. I believe he is paying out of pocket for this as well! Sometimes I wonder what the fate of those embryos will be. I never knew how many embryos are killed during IVF.😢

I read a news about a couple who want to know about their ancestor for fun and found out through DNA test their youngest not the husband child, so they tried to track down who the father is, since the youngest is conceive through IVF, they found another couple who conduct the IVF at the same time in the facility, the other couple live in another state, so they visited the couple and tried to explain the situation, they conduct another DNA test and surprise he is the father, turn out the staff use only one sperm for both eggs, how scary is that.

@@lapis_lazuli578 There are several reasons: 1) in vitro fertilization is condemned by the Church because it violates the dignity of the human person. All human lives have a God-given RIGHT to be the fruit of natural fertilization within the context of the marital act. Conceiving naturally but outside of marriage is also a violation of a child's rights. And obviously conceiving UNNATURALLY outside his parents' bodies is as well. It is an intrinsically disordered act to conceive a baby in a petri dish, and all intrinsically disordered acts must be condemned. 2) It also violates the child's rights and dignity by treating human lives as though they are commodities to be bought and sold. NO parent has a RIGHT to a child. It is wrong to treat babies like they are something to be "designed" and purchased like you would a sofa. 3) The most common way to collect semen for conception is by the father masturbating which is ALWAYS objectively sinful. It is an intrinsically disordered act to separate sexual pleasure from the marital act itself, and all intrinsically disordered acts must be condemned. 4) It is common practice to involve abortion in the process of in vitro fertilization. An embryo is a very fragile human life---God designed embryos to exist ONLY in a woman's protective womb. So every single step of this process is EXTREMELY RISKY for the babies being conceived. That alone could be considered problematic. Typically, several eggs are fertilized to increase the odds of successfully conceiving an embryo, then the unwanted or unhealthy embryos are killed. Those are the actual children of the father and mother involved being killed just so they can have one baby make it. Often, of the few embryos that are not killed, several are implanted in the mother because they expect some of the babies to die in that process as well. If they DON'T die, then "selective abortion" is done to kill whichever fetus seems least healthy or desirable. 5) Another problem is the use of surrogate mothers, which is essentially a woman selling her body for profit. 6) Secondary to the INTRINSIC problems of in vitro fertilization (which are alone plenty to condemn it COMPLETELY---no exceptions; the ends NEVER justify the means---you CAN NOT use evil means to secure a good end. Never), there are also problems that arise AROUND the process. One of them is that it allows homosexual couples to attempt to "parent" children, which is also wrong and a violation of children's rights (all children have a RIGHT to grow up in a family with a mother and a father). 7) Another is that it encourages things like sperm banks which not only typically involve masturbation for profit, but also degrade both the father and any potential children to the level of property. A man's DNA is part of his body and it is wrong to treat it like it is somethign to be bought and sold. Enabling things like "designer babies," where couples pay to make sure the child they mean to adopt (becaues of course, it won't BE their actual child) will have only the finest genetics violates the dignity of the human person by treating them like property (and frankly, probably encourages racism and eugenics, if it got popular enough)

Progestin has been associated with all kinds of side effects, but natural progesterone is associated with positive outcomes. Please speak to embryo adoption. Is it not something that should be used as a bandaid to cover up the moral and ethical problems inherent to the IVF industry. But as Christians, we can step up to give the 1 million children a chance to continue living as opposed to remaining in the limbo of frozen orphanages. My husband and I were against IVF for all of the reasons described here. But because life begins at conception, we have chosen to adopt five siblings who have been frozen since 2003. There is no guarantee that all five have survived the freezing process or that they will continue growing and take. But our goal is to give them a chance to continue living life as God intended them too. Their life is in His hands, and we want to be the vessels He uses to give them that opportunity. It is adoption. It is not replacement for children you cannot have. Anyone dealing with infertility must grieve the children that they will not be able to bear naturally. And then realize that there is an specific joy, knowing that God be placed us in a position to become parents to children who have no parents, and to adopt, as we have been adopted into God’s family through Christ. It comes with risks since it is technically a surrogacy in terms of how my body will view the embryos. But they, as human beings, are worth it. And I am willing to risk my life to give them a chance. The same thing that I believe any mother would be willing to do in the course of a risky pregnancy.

Love that the topic of birth control to deal with issues like heavy periods was discussed. I've been going through this the last several months because I have low iron and it's caused by heavy periods, and the doctors (yes, plural) I've spoken with have recommended birth control, hysterectomy, or tranexamic acid, none of which are something I want to use as a remedy. I've hired a nutritionist to test all of my mineral levels and make dietary recommendations on how I can incorporate more iron into my diet, safely, and see if there's anything I can do outside of taking birth control to help with the periods. It's crazy that our GPs aren't taught more about nutrition to help with issues, or at the very least don't make any kind of recommendation themselves to their patients to seek out dieticians or nutritionists or physical therapists.

IVF worked great for us. Resulted in 3 wonderful children. No embryos were destroyed and we never considered the embryos as property. We prayed about it beforehand and are thankful to God for the blessings he provided. Success rate was great, we had 5 embryos, all were transferred over the years, 3 are children. We declined all genetic testing, we were having the kids no matter what.

I was told I couldn't have kids doctors pretty much ruined my uterus tried to kill me and some other things I'm not comfortable with talking about but I chose to pray and fast and to keto I fasted for my health so I did intermittent fasting I did keto I exercised of course although I wish I'd known about weightlifting before being pregnant and I had some health issues along with having a ton of scar tissue and all kinds of things going on in my womb but I anyhow I prayed I did intermittent fasting I went on keto. And I also took some herbs I took some Chinese herbs I took Sarah peptase which heals scar tissue and I took choline and I think it was he shall woo and it was another Chinese herb I took and I was able to have a baby and carry her to term although it was quite scary She's very healthy and perfect and by the way I'm almost 40 and I had a lot of nerve pain and damage from what the doctors did to me the first time but we're both here and it was a bit of a risky pregnancy towards the end because of a lot of stress but we're both here she's over one and it's wonderful. Prayer diet and all kinds of things can do wonders and there's so many children that also need good foster parents and adoption as well.

Initially that wasn't an option but as she got older approaching 40 the idea of not trying to build her family was too much to bear. Again it's easy to say you won't do something not having walked in that person's shoes. You are absolutely blessed that that's not the cross you had to bear but judging others who choose to undergo IVF isn't a good look. I also don't think we can compare morality of theft to morality of undergoing IVF. What concerns me is the way IVF and surrogacy is increasingly practicing eugenics. The classification and sorting of egg and sperm donors and surrogates according to certain attributes, the liberty to tailor gametes according to personal preference of the couple pursuing IVF. High-end clinics in Europe and the USA are marketing themselves based on the race and ethnicity of their egg, sperm and surrogacy pool. They have catalogues of donors and parents literally craft their embryos acrroding to metrics of success in today's society. We already see that where there is choice in phenotype and genotype selection in IVF, there is skewing towards certain races and features. When we have such power to shape the genotype and phenotype of our children, prejudices emerge. What kind of society are we building? What happened to unconditional love for children?

I don't know how much you have looked into diet but please, please, please look at your diet. Gaining my fertility, for me, was about cooking all my own food. Eating lots of fruits and veggies. Skipping fast food entirely. I was also put on birth control to help regulate my cycle for maybe 6 months. I got pregnant 3 months after I stopped the birth control. However, I nearly miscarried my firstborn. I begged two doctors to test my progesterone (around 10 weeks) and it was fairly low (I think one number higher than the cutoff point for low but lower than they like to see with IVF, for example; because of this one doctor agreed to write me a script for progesterone and he is here today for this reason, I wholeheartedly believe). It started giving me bad heart palpitations so I took a lower dose than what was prescribed...maybe 1/4 the pill. I took it for maybe 3-4 weeks. He is alive because of it. I got pregnant again 9 months after he was born. This second time I didn't have any complications. So, I've had 2 babies now, with PCOS. Both just before turning 35. My second son was born two days before my 34th birthday. Infertility is brutal but it did work out for me. Wish you the best of luck.

Learn on your own, make informed decisions by consulting wise and holistically minded adults with life experience who are good role models. Don’t allow peers to raise your kids. That’s the #1 thing. Homeschool or faith based private schools with transparent curriculums. Don’t send your kids off to any outside entity (school, daycare) until at LEAST age 6 or 7, if at all.

I'm happy to hear all the opinions on here. I think IVF is great technology, and it helps people have children who couldn't. And that's wonderful. But I also appreciate people who say, "Hey, can we do this better? Can we be more precise with our testing so we're not disposing of other viable embryos?" As someone who is not strictly pro-life, I don't see why we can't improve this technology to have fewer embryos disposed of, or no embryos disposed of! I think this speaks volumes to the importance of disagreement.

When sperm meets egg, life is created because of the process she describes of cells dividing rapidly on their own and then implanting and eventually growing into a baby. She does acknowledge it’s “life”. Some people don’t. By the time you can tell all these things about abnormalities and gender it get a bit interesting because sometimes those cells are not going to be successfully in making it or sustaining life but those cells are alive nonetheless.

According to the CDC, it seems that IVF live birth rates are around 22%. I'm wondering what studies you have seen that indicate NaPro is *worse* than that. The first study that I found recording live birth rates for NaPro found that out of over 1,000 couples struggling with infertility, the live birth rate when using NaPro was 52.8% (Stanford J. B., Parnell T. A., Boyle P. C. “Outcomes from treatment of infertility with natural procreative technology in an Irish general practice.”) Additionally, NaPro has a lower prematurity rate and a much lower severe prematurity rate (I would have to go find the studies for the exact citation, but the prematurity rate was 7.0 for NaPro and 12.9 for IVF, and the severe prematurity rate was 1.3 for NaPro and 3.9 for IVF). So, as I said, all the studies that I have seen indicate that NaPro is at least as effective as IVF, and in the most important case (live birth rate) is drastically more effective. ETA: After a quick Google search, it looks like the live birth rates for women over 40 who use IVF is about 7%. So even if the Boyle study you cited was for NaPro live birth rates over 40, that is still much higher than for IVF.

It doesn’t have to be approached from a religious perspective although something has to fill that void. Some girls just don’t feel right on birth control and have a host of other issues. No one bother to bring up the fact it maybe their birth control pills. When you get a chance to talk to them, tell them about alternatives there are non-hormonal forms of birth control like abstinence, diaphragms, female/male condoms, copper IUD, ovulation test that are over the counter, rhythm method, phone apps, body temperature monitoring… there are plenty of videos out there about eating Whole Foods, reducing sugar, getting rid of plastics and fragrances to name a few things.

I never understood the whole ivf thing, or rather why it's been so overused. If i was infertile, or was having trouble getting pregnant, i would expect my doctor to do his job and figure out why my body is not functioning properly, not pump me full of hormones and force my body into doing something its not healthy enough to do. The fact is the majority of these women who are spending tens of thousands just for it to not take, or to go through the pain of miscarriage after miscarriage, are either too old to he having babies or they are obese. As a woman, i was created to have babies, and my husband, as a man, was created to put a baby in me. So if one of us can't do that, it's because one of us is unhealthy and that underlying health problem needs to be addressed. As for the older women, most of these women don't have a husband, and im sorry, but i feel that a child deserves a mother and father, and these women are being selfish by purposefully bringing a child into this world and then not giving the child what he or she deserves. They aren't doing it for the child, but for their own selfish need to fill some void thats been left behind after wasting their youth trying be a man instead of doing what a woman was meant to do. Im not trying to rag on these women, but i actually feel sorry for them because they believed the lie our society tells. I knew one woman who had 2 abortions in her 20s, then went through ivf in her late 30s, and was heartbroken when it didn't work. I feel for the poor woman, but at the same time, she did it to herself. We as a society need to first off, get healthy by eating real food and going outside again, and two, stop lying to women and forcing them into being men because the men are too lazy to be men. Children are suffering and women are suffering.

Yes, but infertility rates have skyrocketed in recent years. And it’s much more complex then just lifestyle. Humans are being bombarded with toxins at unprecedented levels, from our foods, to medications (birth control is a huge culprit), to plastics, GMO’s, EMF’s, aggressive vaccine schedules, chemicals in cleaning and beauty products and our clothes, etc. This has literally changed the way our bodies are meant to function by disrupting our endocrine systems, disregulating our nervous systems, clogging our lymphatic systems and suppressing our immune systems. Not to mention the high levels of mental stress added to the physical stress. The body is working overdrive on all of that and often has zero energy to spare on repairing and digesting, so it’s no wonder conceiving is not an option for many. The body must be physically, mentally and spiritually ready to receive a baby and many who claim they want a baby are not recognizing how their actions and decisions are not aligned with that desire. It took me over a year to get pregnant and by finally making some big changes and incorporating Chinese Medicine, I conceived naturally. I pray more women wake up to the root causes of infertility and realize their own capability to heal. And hopefully the trend will shift back to having babies younger as spending years on birth control and waiting until older makes it that much harder.

I believe the main point of this taken with a Christian magnifier glass is that many, millions of embryos are been created and then garbage. Each human being created in God's image is valuable. Secondly, while fertility treatments "seem" to be safe where deformed babies can be discarded, they are not totally true. Have you seen med-reports, or even real life cases where couples transfer mosaic and even abnormal embryos, and they have normal healthy babies? Pgst is not a guarantee . I know of women that did PGST to 6 embryos and they all ended up in miscarriage 😢. So, no, this is not stupid, this is really informative..
