David Wood is smart enough to see the big picture: atheists and vast majority of today's Christians (i.e. basically all but the extreme groups), although having issues on certain number of topics, are in agreement on how the society should work. This is not the case with Ummah, as even the moderate Muslims tend to believe that all our lives should be arranged in accordance with the teachings of Islam. So, currently, Islam is the biggest ideological threat to our modern societies, regardless whether you believe in some other god than Allah, or don't believe in any of them.

@@thedarkerknight601 In the base teachings of Jesus and the apostles it is, hence the message being spread by preaching and teaching (and according to accounts support of the message through supernatural signs and wonders). Mind you if christians just followed the Old Testament they could fall back into less non-violent ways. If you look at history though there has been a temptation to cost up to power, and that brings problems as there's a lot of coercion and injustices in regimes, especially the authoritian ones. Hence the Papacy using coercion in the 'Middle Ages' as it was mixing in worldly ways with the gospel ways. There has been a struggle to get back to the gospel since the Reformation, such that now most churches won't behave coercively as a policy, although churches that haven't changed much since Constantine are still seduced by the control model. There's always a tendency in humans to be tribal, perhaps due to instincts developed in the past, we need to watch. That effects everyone, for instance the communists in the DDR and Soviet Union would send people who didn't follow the ideological line to reeducation camps or gulags or sometimes kill them, and those ruling groups held an atheist belief.

We preach out of love for others souls but we know we can’t force conversions. So we can stand with you and other atheists against forced conversion/ persecutions under Islam. We support free speech and legal justice along with you. We have respect for you despite our differences and see the value in your opinions. For a Christian loving our neighbour means coming along side him in what is good while still sharing and praying for him. We don’t support evil but we con love a person and support the good they do.We know we can’t convert you but we can pray and share . Each person makes his own choices and gets judged for those at the end. Each of us gets one walk in life and those who truly seek truth will find it. We believe we have found the God who comes to us and forgives us and wants a relationship with us . You are wonderful in seeking truth about Islam and sharing the truths you see. True back when I was christian , I had no problem whatsoever with Atheism ... I was what you would call a "new age" christian , i was and still am a culturap libertarian , and i have no problem with chosing to believe or not to believe My problem is when some people want to dictate how others should live , and islam is a way bigger problem in that regard than christianity I am an agnostic now , and I fully support your work ... Even as a Christian i was also very critical of radical Christian sects and cults such as Mormonism , radical Evangelism , Jahova's witnesses and more, but still, Islam has way more power and influence over peoples lives than Christianity... Islamic theocracies still exists , christian majority nations are often the most liberal and democratic, and most christians now support freedom and the rule of law , the radicals are way fewer and have way less power than islamic radicals so i think these are the reasons...

The Romans also fed Jews and others to the lions. Christians have done far more persecuting than any other major religion. The Roman Catholic Corporation tortured people and burned them at the stake for not following Catholic doctrine. (Read about the Holy Inquisition). During the Crusades, they slaughtered non-Christians. After the protestant reformation, Christians persecuted other Christians. Europe's history is littered with wars between Christians. The American Civil War was fought between northern Christians and Southern Christians. And who do you think fought in WW1? A bunch of Christian countries, that's who. Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany were CHRISTIAN nations.

I can't speak on behalf of any other Christians, especially not fundamentalists or the profoundly devout. I'm a secular, intellectually inclined Christian with Deistic tendencies. I don't hate any religion, and certainly not any people because of their religion. However, Islam has some very potently dangerous aspects. The implication of that is gratitude to those who stand up to it, and respect for their courage. Only outspoken moderate Muslims and ex-Muslims have any real hope of affecting Islam. Standing up to Muslim fundamentalists is very dangerous, for both groups, but especially for ex-Muslims. It commands my respect. Apart from having courage, outspoken ex-Muslims also tend to support other values that I have, especially freedom of speech, and generally be very principled people. I suspect that's a result of how difficult and dangerous it is to leave Islam; it's not something you do, unless you have thought it through, and not something you're outspoken about, unless you're principled. I see the same in apostates from other strict religious communities, including ex-Christians, but not to the same extent. That's my subjective impression, based on personal observation, anyway. Unfortunately, my financial status means that my support is of the moral variety. It's not as handy as cash, but it's yours.

Christianity’s gospel is that Jesus is God, Jesus died for us, and Jesus rose again. So we can be saved. Islam is the exact opposite in teaching that Jesus is NOT god, didn’t die on the cross, and therefore didn’t rise again. When a Christian sees someone who rejects this reversal of the gospel “good news” (what the word gospel means, good news) then this is an amazing step away from the darkness and lies of Satan in our eyes. I think in a lot of cases, ex-Muslim atheist channels critical of Islam often have many Xtian and Hindu fans because theologically speaking, its a case of "my enemy's enemy is my friend". I think AP has many such fans. I kind of find it a bit hypocritical of Xtians and others when the arguments can be so easily adapted to challenge their own religions. Islam makes concrete historical claims which can be challenged - why plenty of Muslims resort to conspiracy theories about Christian/Jewish/Hindu/atheists' manipulation of history. Most importantly, Christian theology developed with enlightenment rationality and open challenges to its doctrines. I tend to agree with the caller. Yes Ex muslims do often side with other religions in a case of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" (for want of a better term). As someone said, we tolerate belief but do not necessarily respect the beliefs. For me personally, the LGBTQ persecution and depiction of Jews in the Quran are both unacceptable and outdated relics of a bygone age which, sadly, are codified and hard to change. The simple logic is Christians support Ex Muslims because they need some one to help them, give them little support on their hardship, become their voices against Islamic cruelty and both Christians and Ex-muslims faced it.
