Not mentioned, but for those with an interest: There's a small Greek Orthodox shrine to St. Michael the Archangel that's tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. I've been there a few times: the artwork is nice, if nothing else, but if you do happen to experience Michael's presence while you're there, it's amazing.

We also have lived there for 12 years and love it. We have a house on one of the bayous It is close to everything without being on top of everything. We are probably the only two people who live there that are not Greek but out Greek neighbors could not be more charming and accepting. Old Florida at its best.

Tarpon springs. 1990-1997Lived on a boat while in middle school and high school. Lived on anclote river and alt 19. The marina where capt'n jacks is located. Years ago owned by a husband and wife. Point is tarpon springs was pure love. We ran up and down the sponge docks. Because I had Greek friends we were always getting fed by someone's grandmother or one of the businesses would be handing us stuff and we ran around and had fun. Looking back it was great. We were safe, always had jobs and someone was always keeping an eye on us. So many Greek families I hold near and dear to my heart. They are the heart beat of tarpon. They are what made it so magical. Mr. Souvlaki - Greek chow mein. I swear best stuff ever. Big mama shrimp boat before March 93 storm killed her was my hookup for fresh shrimp right off the boat. I would run around on my dingy and the shrimp boat guys were always so nice to us. In the end tarpon is a great and safe place. At least then it was. But I see the same magic now even as I roll through on appliance repair calls. Love you guys!

I live in tarpon springs and I absolutely love it! The people are very friendly, always seem happy and relaxed. I love how quiet it is and enjoy the beauty of the beaches it has. Although I would like for the city to do some remodeling to “some” areas. But overall great schools, great culture and great atmosphere. Love my little tarpon town ❤

I am a midwesterner who has been to Tarpon Springs about ten times, ranging from an afternoon trip to a month's stay. I love it. I have not been a property owner, so flooding and hurricanes is not something I worry about. But it has so many things attractive for a local, or a northerner like me, that I regularly recommend it to my friends. It is not entirely touristy, and it has plenty of working people rather than all seniors. It has two fine beaches, of better quality than your video suggests, it has lots of Greek restaurants, a small but attractive downtown, and just enough tourist attractions to be a fun place to be. It is also on the Pinellas Trail, a paved bicycling, walking and jogging trail that goes to Dunedin, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg, and connects to the north and east. Its proximity to the Tampa Airport, Tampa itself, Clearwater Beach and St. Petersburg is an added feature. I cannot recommend Tarpon Springs more for snowbirds, and I would think it is a great place to live despite the hurricane threat.

I wish more realtors would explain to potential buyers the distance to major cities, more shopping, etc. Over the years we’ve grown beyond necessities, and new residents still want every little thing within 5 minutes. I don’t quite understand why you think Tarpon is not diverse though. The Greeks that built the sponge industry moved here for a better life. They didn’t come here to recreate Greece. We are extremely patriotic, and that is why you will always see both flags at the docks. And the tourist industry is directly connected to the sponge/fishing industry. One does not exist without the other. “Touristy” stuff is our town’s biggest industry. The Greeks at the docks embrace diversity; they embrace tourists. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇷🙏🏻

Nobody but this dude, not even foreigners, think Tarpon Springs is "diverse". The Greek culture and historical relevance is why people are interested. If you want "diverse" you can live in almost any Northeastern City.

I just visited Tarpon Springs on Friday and it was extremely charming. I checked out downtown, sponge docks, and then went out to Anclote Key. I'd love to come and spend a full weekend. The one thing I didn't think was this place is diverse. I could honestly say I did not see one person the entire time I was there.

How are the insurance costs (including flood) these days? Do they allow solar panels? What is the pricing range for something like a 2-3 BR and 2+ BA with parking, and how close are most of these kinds of properties to St. Nicholas?

I’ve lived here for many years and you talk about the good things, what about the negative. Homeless people coming down here, soliciting you in parking lots, attacking you in the library, people moving down here from out of state thinking they can do what they want! I don’t even want to get into the city government 😡 Yes, it used to be a nice city, not anymore!

Been there twice, know some people who live there and I liked it. Perhaps one day I may live near by or in the wider area, whether be the Pinellas county or next to it. BTW, all this talk about "diversity" driven by and forced upon by the current narrative, is more about political ideology and control than just mixing it up and having a balance. It has become a suffocating mantra and a litmus test for everything everywhere and at times, it is neither such a great thing nor it produces the idealized results. I live in NYC, the failings of the continuous push for ever more over diversification are now becoming quite apparent. If Tarpon Springs, a small town in FLA vis-a-vis the behemoth NYC is not quite "diversified" may a good thing after all and perhaps fits it's character. Is not as if they have watch towers and border patrol over by Dodecanese Ave blocking the entrance of undesirables. Common now, it is not about the one size fits all kind of a thing. Enjoy the town, enjoy the flame saganaki cheese over at Hellas Restaurant, take a boat ride with Odyssey tours (and say hello to Rio the owner) and chill. It's not that serious.

I hateeee that area. You have sooooo many louddddd people, speaking God knows what language. And They're so loud you dont know if they are having a conversation or fighting 😅 And dangerous because you have two places that like to help the "homeless," which are the Shepherd Center S Pinellas Ave and St. Timothy Church on E Tarpon Ave a great great great majority of homeless people are drug addicts that 100% refuse to get help for. And there is no street lighting in what i think is a highly dangerous area and thats on the side and back streets by the Shoppes at Tarpon
