@pamsnowberger1129 I'm so sorry you're still having arthritis pain. After just 9 weeks mine is starting to improve a little in my back. I'm not even sure it's improved but the flexibility has. I'm able to stand up straight with my shoulders back without causing immediate spasms. It doesn't last long, but I'm constantly reminding myself again and again, straighten up! My hands haven't improved much, if any. I watched a Kelly hogan video. It was about how ill she was and how she gained weight instead of losing until her body healed enough to let some weight go. Those kind of videos encourage me to stay on track. Besides, I know I'm healthier every day, no matter how impatient I am. 18 months is a long time, but have you noticed other non-scale victories? I'll stay on carnivore because of my mental health improvements alone. My depression is so much better after being on meds for most of my life. Without meds or the side effects. My mood has stabilized and the anxiety, that feeling of impending doom, is rare. The only pills I take now are muscle relaxers and the pain meds. And I'm able to take less now. Your perseverance is inspiring. I so want to be here and healthy for my kids and grandkids. Good health and mind to you!

Meat is so delicious! I spent most of my life as a plant-based omnivore, and was strictly veg in my teen-earlier adulthood. I’ve now been on Carnivore for 3.5 months and I feel amazing. It’s something I broke into gradually and still continue to slowly eliminate the handful of SAD foods that still grip me, but I’m doing it at my own pace so that I can enjoy a sustainable lifestyle change. As Joe Rogan put it - to the effect of, “you have to heal your body the same way you got sick: slowly and over time”…. While this is obviously not true for everyone I know it is for myself. But I just love how my energy is more consistent and I don’t have to obsess about food like before… meal planning is a cinch - there is no waste as I can always make a broth out of the bones and add scrap fat or gristle to that, plus when I cook my trays of bacon or pork belly I get my cooking fat to last me a very long time… people lose weight differently too but I’m happy to say I’ve lost 11lb, and though I am thrilled and would like to lose more I’m in no rush because of the benefits I’m already experiencing. You gotta love the anti food industry element of this way of eating too! Makes it so easy to bypass the constant barrage of crap we’re surrounded by 24-7. Which includes well intentioned family, friends and coworkers! 💙

It took me a very long time to allow myself to trying out the carnivore lifestyle because I was quite sick in 2013 and turned my ship around on a plant based diet. No simple carbs, 9 cups of steamed vegetables and clean animal protein. I have seen some good changes being on the carnivore diet: post-menopausal weight loss, amazing cognitive function, better energy and my bio markers are all looking really good. I still have some work to do, such as improving my immune function and I hope that this lifestyle is eventually going to do the trick.

@@SuitedPupI can't understand wanting to profit off his big audience. That's why I'm not part of his audience. I prefer people like Anthony Chaffee and Paul Mason, for example, who are willing to tell the truth without regard to whether it is profitable for them. As soon as a channel starts to hawk products, as soon as they start to be more concerned about profit than about the health of the people who subscribe, then it is time to unsubscribe and find someone else. The important thing is to take the time to learn the underlying science. Read the books, read the studies, don't just take medical advice from a KZbin so-called influencer. Anthony Chaffee is a doctor. He's not here to influence anyone, he wants to tell people the truth and help them eat a healthier diet.
@SuitedPup2 ай бұрын
@@Kyarrix that’s a very fair point. I guess I should say I “understand” but don’t condone. Also, you mention Chaffee being a doctor, so listen to him. To be fair, the vast majority of doctors would recommend against a carnivore diet. I would actually recommend to NOT listen to doctors, nor nutritional science. Nutrition science is an extremely soft science, with very little predictive power (as opposed to hard science such as physics, chemistry, biology). Besides, it is corrupted by financial bias (e.g. our conversation on Thomas DeLauer making money espousing nutrition “science”). If we follow nutritional studies, we’ll buy into things like “chocolate lowers your risk of Alzheimer’s!” and other ridiculous claims. The real thing to consider is the simple fact that we are a species of animal, Homo sapiens, and every species has their species-appropriate diet. The sciences that answer what that is for us include evolutionary biology, biochemistry, and anthropology. These all, I would argue, point to an animal-based diet (not Saladino’s version, but a truly animal-based diet). Besides that, the thousands of testimonials of people indicating completely remarkable results from a carnivore diet is indicative of a phenomena. It’s absolutely ridiculous that scientists don’t take these seriously. Anecdotal evidence, once it reaches a certain threshold, is strong evidence / borderline proof.

You can also get gluconeogenesis from the lactate that is generated via glycolysis of glycogen. It's called the Cori cycle, it's the reverse of glycolysis, converting lactate back into glucose to replenish glycogen stores. The Cori cycle runs on ATP generated from the oxidation of fat.
@luvabean2 ай бұрын
I have never heard of this cycle...so interesting! Than you for sharing!! I love new rabbit holes. It makes sense, if no kill and you tuck into the cave or savanna, something is gonna have to give you a couple more chances...if we were one run and done humans would have ceased to exit, huh?! Thank you, and I mean this deeply. *Nerd mode engaged*
@EdJacobson772 ай бұрын
@@luvabean I know exactly what you mean; a lot of things started making a lot more sense when I learned about the Cori cycle. I always wondered how did old school bodybuilders build tons of muscle on meat, eggs, and feta . . . where did the glycogen for their workouts come from? Or in other (mostly ancient) times and places, which had little in the way of naturally occurring starches. After an unsuccessful hunt, our ancestors didn't go back to their caves and eat a big bowl of Wheaties . . . they would have to be able to replenish their glycogen using their own body fat. And this also goes to (partially) explain why Stefansson and others found that when on an all-meat diet, you must eat enough fat, and that too much lean meat won't work if you are zero carb. You need that fat for energy, and the Cori cycle is one of the many energy pathways. One thing that I have read, is that for people who are habituated to eating carbohydrates, it may take a few weeks or even months for the body to fully adjust to using the Cori cycle. This would explain why short-term studies demonstrate that carb-adapted athletes find that their performance suffers when they shift overnight to a low carb diet. There's no shortage of studies showing that low carb diets impair athletic performance - in the short term (i.e. a few weeks). But the body does adapt. Dr. Eric Westman and his colleagues, I believe Dr. Steve Phinney was on this paper as well, look up the FASTER study. They measured muscle glycogen levels in runners who were either long-term fat-adapted or carb-adapted. The long-term fat adapted runners' glycogen levels remained high, even after a 50-mile run. They were just constantly running the Cori cycle the whole time. No need to eat glucose gels or whatever the carb-adapted athletes were eating during the run. I'm strange. I went carnivore overnight and didn't experience a period of poor workouts. I just kept on doing my workouts same as before. If anything, I felt stronger immediately. I was fully expecting, and ready to tolerate, an initial drop-off before eventually adjusting. But it just never happened. I know that some others have had a different experience. To this day I cannot figure out why I adjusted so easily. Just lucky or strange, I guess.

An interesting note for anyone interested with regards to plant toxicity, I am a rabbit breeder(meat rabbits), and daily I supplement my rabbits pellets with wild grasses, forbs, shrubs and various herbs which grow wild in nature. I have to be careful with regards to which plant I feed to them as they will literally die on the spot if they eat the wrong item, which is wild considering the fact that they are 100% herbivores....! It is well known that rabbits die almost instantly from bloat.

A key point to me is that carnivorous animals don't get heart disease. Lions, who eat only meat, don't get heart disease even if their cholesterol levels are through the roof. Housecats, who eat "healthy", cooked, omnivorous diets (that comes in cans... meat along with rice and various grains) do develop heart disease. Lions can also get very high blood sugar and remain healthy; they don't develop diabetes in the way that house cats, and humans (who eat omnivorous diets) do. I have not gone fully carnivore but am trending more in that direction. I suspect that a fully carnivorous diet would also need to contain some raw or undercooked animal-based foods, with precautions taken to avoid parasites.

I noticed a number of years ago that people with a 'normal' appetite tended to eat a little extra one day, then naturally ate less for the next 2 to 4 days. Sometimes unintentionally intermittent fasting by skipping a meal or two -- nothing but coffee for breakfast, a salad for lunch -- that kind of thing. I've noticed I have fallen into a similar eating pattern since going carnivore. Some days my husband politely points out I am making "carnivore sounds" while I take the first few bites of steak on a 'ravenous' day. Bless him. The next day, I have very little appetite and tend to eat much lighter. A coffee for Breakfast. A couple of hard boiled eggs for lunch. A hamburger patty or two or bone broth for dinner. Anyone else noticing their appetite normalizing like this?

First, my sleep quality is vastly improved and the second thing is, my thinking is so much clearer and my mood is so much better. Even keeled throughout the day with far less anxiety (something I have battled for years). One thing I am still trying to get used to is I do feel a bit sluggish when I ride mountain bikes and am out doing a 3 hr ride with a lot of climbing. But overall, I feel lighter around my mid section.

Say maybe in rats exposed to benzene or another carcinogen. I would guess the rats on keto would have lowers rates which could help convince people that cancer is indeed a metabolic disease.

I often ponder this too. But the sad truth is many evil "people" benefit from our stagnation. A good example would be if say a genius or geniuses have figured out the true cure for cancer or some other illnesses. It is not a stretch to say big pharma would rather have that person assassinated and their research burned or locked away forever. It may sound cooky conspiracy theorist of me but think about it. Big pharma would not benefit from some genius curing something permanently. They don't want a one and done fix. They just want a drug that alleviates the discomfort temporarily for a endless customer. So much like in my example above there are likely MANY areas of human life that someone could have leaped us decades into the future with but they were silenced and "taken care of" so things would remain the same. We had many people in say the 50s 60s ect that thought by now we would be living like the Jetsons with flying cars and whatnot but anytime someone could or might have gotten us there I believe they were stopped. Even now I believe we could and should have been far more advanced than we are now. But evil sadly runs the world.

When I was a kid I absolutely hated peppers and onions. Gagged on cream of wheat( mom made me eat it) luckily we grew up on a farm and had lots of meat. Almost every meal had meat. I would sneak some raw hamburger off of the counter and eat it. So I guess it was something my body needed. However, the quick foods came into the picture in high school especially ( ‘80s) I did not gain weight , but I was young and an athlete. Our parents literally did not know how bad it was for you. I wish I would have known more when my kids were little. Luckily we did eat a lot of meat and they grew up to be healthy and strong. They are smart kids and are healthy ish eaters now. None are carnivore, but they do realize the importance of limiting carbs and eating plenty of protein. My daughter was very stubborn and decided to try a very low fat / calorie diet when she was 18. Lost weight and was very unhealthy. Lost most of her hair. I kept telling her it was bad for her, but she wouldn’t listen for a while. Luckily she got over that. She is at a healthy weight and eats more fat and meat now ( not enough t fat and too many carbs in my opinion) but someday I think she will come around as she gets older.

Allow me to share my Carnivore experience and struggles: I have been eating meat and eggs for more than 8 months.(Red meat most of the time. Cut= Chuck steak) I am a healthy individual with no chronic diseases. I started the carnivore diet to lose body fat without being hungry or starving myself.(body recomposition + satiaty) I am 180cms tall, 185 lbs, and +-21-22% BF. I have not lost any body fat in the last almost 4 months.(My goal is to be 15%BFor less, what would require me to lose at least 15lbs of fat) I eat 500-600g of meat COCKED (usually read meat/Chuck steak. Sometimes i eat chicken) and 6-7 eggs. I also do strength training 2-3 times a week to help lose body fat and maintain muscle mass. Weirdly or not, i also have not experience most of the Carnivore diets benefits so famous in the Carnivore community, such as Boost in energy levels, Better sleep and etc. Allow me to ask some question about the Carnivore diet: 1- What adjustments do I need to make to lose body fat on a carnivore diet, without being hungry? 2- Should I use the CICO model if I can't lose body fat on a carnivore diet? (should i start counting my calories to lose bodyfat?) 3- How long should it take to evaluate the carnivore diet (I've had poor results so far and i am starting to consider to quit) 4- How do I calculate how much fat and protein (even calories) I should eat on a carnivore diet to lose body fat without, being hunry or starving myself? 5- Is it a problem to eat leaner cuts of meat? Thank you!
