Without a doubt, asceticism is still asceticism, a life-denying philosophy. In a sense, the backlash is only natural because there aren't any values someone has made that can replace them. At the very least, old Nietzsche had a respect for Christianity and stoicism especially. But as someone who largely agrees with Nietzsche, I still say I'd rather deal with Catholics than with the majority of Atheists since they take their hot takes from reddit rather than thinking for themselves. At the very least, devout Catholics will try to do things within a moral framework, rather than the "average leftist/libertine" who tries to gaslight people into thinking degeneracy is a virtue. @@pbohearn

I sure do love this modern world where wholesome loving relationships that result in marriages that last has been forgotten for meanigless sex, extreme loneliness, and like half of marriages ending in divorce.
@dingus_doofus
@dingus_doofus Жыл бұрын
Like half? Literally half, at an average length of about 8 years - not even enough for your kid to reach puberty. That's the divorce statistics in extremely liberal countries like the UK and US. Ironically the heritage of the fascism that ruined Germany and Japan in war turned out to save them from the full effects of the degeneration of the 70s and our divorce rates hover around 30% instead, average length of failed marriages hoverng around 15 years. I think most Western countries hover somewhere in between. A large part of it, independent of general behaviour shifts, was also the introduction of the pill, which is now known to inhibit natural hormonal responses that strengthen the romantic bond with the partner during intimacy. Everything done since the 70s was basically just one massive mistake. Banning the pill alone could do so much to restore normal romantic bonds. There are enough contraception options available to enable what they call "planned parenthood".

Here in Spain we've seen some of the most embarrasing results of this phenomenon all the way back on the 70s. When Franco passed away, his rules of decency and morality pretty much went away with him, and we entered a period known as the "Destape" (The uncovering, as in uncovering a skirt). Then it felt like everything was suddenly covered with porn magazines, porn acts, very risqué comedies starring men on thier 40s and 50s acting like complete babbling cucks, the least masculine way they could, like they were adolescent children who just found out about sex... If somebody were to ask me the meaning of "cringe", I'd point them to those movies.

As one who grew up in the 60's/70's I can say this video is pretty spot on. Having older siblings who grew up in the50's/60's they were brought up under the old rules and much differently. They were disciplined, pushed to do well in school, to go onto college, to be polite, have manners and listen to their elders. They graduated 1968, 70 and 71 and were influenced by the sexual revolution but didn't grow up in it.. By the time I came around it was "find your own way" and do what ever you want. Kids having sex was normalized and some would spend the night with their gf or bf because "they are going to do it anyway, might as well have the parents present to make sure nothing bad happened". Same went for drinking or getting high, same excuse. "Better for them to get drunk at home". It was like a light switch was turned on and everything changed to "free love", "free sex", getting high and do what you want or feel. Totally different from being well mannered, disciplined and preparing yourself for the future.

Sadly many parents use that sentiment just to abandon their responsibilities as parents, especially when they say they wan to be their kids' 'friends'. I believe the cause is much more complex than the movement from traditional values. After all, an internal moral compass and responsibility to a community can come from many different values. Personally I do believe it's better when kids aren't pushed to do dumb things in unsafe environments, but I believe the goal should be that parents and society educate children about the consequences and still help minimizing the aftermath rather than telling them to "do whatever they want". I find it troubling that many comments here equate movement from traditional values to complete lack of care for oneself and the surroundings when only a small amount of people truly let go of future for debauchery. Sadly, those people have always existed on the margins of society, but removing the notion of a 'taboo' from issues that always existed has only proved to help problematic individuals live better lives. The society is definitely falling due to other things.

Speaking as a late Boomer who supported the sexual revolution and its aftermath until about the past decade or so (as the scales started gradually falling from my eyes), I can testify that the people who promoted this definitely appealed to those of us for whom family life hadn't been the happiest, so that we had problems with the family and traditional ways of life in the first place, and were more readily attracted to the philosophy of hyper-individualism, and various ersatz substitutes for the family (cults, ideologies, etc.). We were, in some respects, the footsoldiers of the movement. Formerly of course the mainstream (a mainstream under the control of its own people) would have had its own way of dealing with my type, or reconciling us, but the people behind all this, who now more or less controlled the media, academia, politics, etc., instead _exacerbated_ the gripes we had with our societies and cultures - flattered us, etc. A kind of "moral Judo" was practiced on us.

I had an inkling that this was the case. The modern left have the same problems; their gripes about their families, and living lives of complete darkness, are being used to push ideologies that claim to help them. It's malignant, and predatory, in nature. These people are essentially having a temper tantrum and think tearing all of society down will make them feel better. When I used to be on the Left I was attracted to Communism, and Feminism, because I thought that it would solve all of my family, relationship, and class-based problems. The reality was that it only made me more miserable until I finally climbed out of that hole.

I'm from Brazil. The sexual revolution had a similar impact here. My grandparents stayed married till death. Divorce was legalized here in 1977. My parents, uncles and aunts are divorced. Me and my sister didn't married. The newer generations live in a world where most people have sex before marriage. It took generations to get us where we are. It will take generations to get things organized again. With the internet I don't believe that it is probable though. I saw an inteview with a divorce lawyer and he said that "social media is the greatest machine for adultery in human history". Time just run forward. It's hard to get out of promiscuity. And it leaves wounds for life in most people. The sooner you start doing it, the harder it is to get through it. And maybe is for the best, because people with high body county don't make good parents most of the time. There is the issue of sexual robots for the future generations too. It's a product of training, upbringing, discipline, and belief system. People do it, have done it, and they're not as miserable as you project, many very happy and fulfilled. There will always be variation in success, and if that variation "proves" to you that it's untenable, it's because that's what you need to see to fit how you measure things. You want to be "opened minded" but only in a direction that confirms your own projection, not in one that opens the possibility of not having to try someone out sexually to "see" if you're compatible. Because even if you are, you can become intensely incompatible in the course of your relationship, as it happens as often as not. And if that is your measure of success, you will surely fail anyway. You have to, because there is no enduring substance to a relationship measured or evaluated that way. As a parting comment, I think you would be flabbergasted to find out how susceptible to transformation sexual compatibility can be when you're priority is understanding the other person without reservation or threat of leaving. There is incredible irony in the mechanics of relationships, especially inside the safety of a commitment that can't be broken. Because as long as you can walk away when something is inconvenient, there can never be the kind of security where either of you can afford any real risk of rejection, which fear is at the root of most compatibility problems. The throw-away nature of modern pseudo-commitment is ironically the bulk of why it fails in the first place. There is a kind of magic in an unbreakable bond, or genuine promise of fidelity for better or worse, which is impossible without it. But everything has 2 sides, and potentials to it, so there is also a risk. The risk puts the life and excitement into it. The reason people are generally happier in times when marriage is not easy to get out of, comes from the corresponding increased security, from the fact that the other person cannot just leave, which increases the motivation to work it out on both sides, whatever the problems are. Like anything else, whether it's a job, a game, a political effort, learning a trade or whatever, if you can just leave the minute things don't go your way, you will never stick to anything long enough to know whether it's worth it.. Even games will be no fun, because people quit the instant they think they're losing. No one can win, because no one stays in the game long enough for anyone to win. No company can work if employees leave at the first inconvenience or less-than-fun experience. The Truth is you get nothing in a world where you can give-up, leave, or cop out as soon as you're on the downside of the ferris wheel or teetertotter.

@@emjakos3548 The state didn't force your marriage [although I think the state should stay out of it anyway]. No one made you make promises of "'til death do us part" and "for better or worse". If you didn't take the vows seriously, that isn't the State's doing. Your marriage failed before it started due to the attitude, ethic and philosophy you went into it with - it was bound to fail, given your approach to it. I don't doubt that you feel better now. Marriage is hard at least some of the time. Even living with a friend is going to be hard sometimes. You and I are already arguing and we haven't even met. To think something like a marriage is going to be anything but the ultimate challenge is naive' as hell. So is becoming a doctor, or other highly skilled trade, like anything else worthwhile in life. You or anyone else would fail at those too if you went into it expecting it to work like a charm because you're a nice person. What can anyone say? You don't like "hard" and think nothing should be. People call it normal because sexual behavior does not have an objectively correct method. That's like saying it's not normal to eat steak medium-rare; there are many safe ways to cook a steak, and none of them are "wrong." Different societies have different preferences over time. For example, Ancient Israelite culture was polygamous during the Patriarchs and United Monarchy periods. The only thing that matters is consent. It is acceptable as long as all parties involved are adults and give enthusiastic consent.

It's truly sad to see the confusion sexual revolution has caused in the mind of so many people. My ex-gf was brought up in what seemed to be a stable family with parents that lived in a happy marriage, but at the same time they focused raised their children with too much freedom and she ended up losing her virginity at 15 yo and drinking the whole sexual liberation kool-aid. Her parents tried to act cool and followed what the media said: "it's better to let them do it, than prohibit them and lead them to do it in an unsafe environment". She then went on to intercalate between long periods of serious dating with short periods of promiscuous life with casual sex. To make a long story short: she saw her parents marriage as a model to attain, but couldn't accept that her promiscuous lifestyle while she was single was at odds with her desire to have family and kids. After learning about everything and breaking up due to such a huge incompatibility I tried helping her to follow healthier views on sex and relationships, but she sees everything as "too conservative/traditional" and thinks it won't help her case. I pray for her, but I truly dodged a bullet.

@@ibrahimalharbi3358 You're right, He's not a dead white man. He's risen, alive and in His full Glory, and nobody ever claimed Jesus to be white. He actually is eternal. John 8:58-59 58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. The Jews were well aware what he meant by "I am" (YHWH). This was a claim of divinity and equality to God. That's why they tried to stone him. Turn away from your false religion, from the best example of a false prophet Satan could ever come up with: Mohammad, a guy who came up with revelations whenever it benefited him, as when he wanted to marry his adopted son's wife, and later abolished adoption, or to marry a 6yo Aisha (consummating when she was 9). A guy who overheard the Bible and mixed up Miriam mother of Jesus with Miriam sister of Moses. The same guy who claimed jews worshiped Ezra as Son of God, which was never done throughout history. The same guy claims the Quran is the eternal word of god, even when it's full of errors and clearly a manufactured revelation from a 7th century caravan robber, made up from a distorted view of previous revelation and heretical apocrypha. You also kiss a Black Rock wishing it'll intercede in your behalf in Judgment day. It'll even have eyes and a mouth, sounds pretty pagan to me.

I don't think anyone remotely sane would say that EVERY move from traditional values is progress, but I don't hear that from liberal people in the first place. Have you considered that some of societal issues might be an aftermath of those traditional ways, and that some of Christian values are not exclusive to Christianity and would be considered basic human decency by most? Faith and traditionalism are NOT the same thing, and progressing spiritually (or being a greater follower of your faith) does not need returning to a by-gone era.

Once the current dating system collapses under long term backlashes due to social breakdown (i.e things like masses of single women, rise of an incel underclass, low birthrate leading to population collapse), a new traditional set of family values and strict sexual conduct will become the norm. Ireland held out against most of the aspects of the Sexual Revolution, though the 90s was the primary turning point unfortunately. 2018 didn't make things any better when abortion was voted in (the few times we actually "vote" on anything) and shocker, birth rates are down. LGBTism seems to be plastered in a lot of aspects of life and overall, sexual liberalism has violently changed the country and I believe why the changes are so violent is because the people pushing for these viewpoints want revenge against the "black and white" and "dark age" period that was Ireland between the 1920s and 1990s, where Catholic teachings, viewpoints and general behaviour was promoted and the norm in society. Women could walk home at night safely, people left their doors unlocked etc, granted it was not a utopia but I would gladly take that time over the so called "safe, progressive and tolerant" Ireland today. At least America is somewhat having a bit of cop on, it shows that the effects of this "revolution" are not permanent, though the damage it has done should be remembered with great disdain.

Couldn't have anything to do with countless church scandals, the uncovering of the horrors of the Magdalene Laundries, or the realization that the Catholic Church's grip on Ireland was utterly oppressive. To pretend that rapid secularization was a product of vague "decadence" or "wokeism" is blatantly disingenuous and insulting to those who suffered under the old regime. If you think Irish society should return to mass-shaming, persecution of unmarried women and imprisoning LGBT people, maybe move to Saudi Arabia where your views will be more tolerated.

“The sympathy of the audience should never be thrown toward the side of crime, evil, or sin.” -The Hays Code That was in the 1930s, now every Disney movie is about recontextualising their classic villains as sympathetic anti-heroes. Think Maleficent; the clue is in the bloody name. I mean, she refers to herself as the Mistress of All Evil, and here Disney is trying to put kids on her side. They did it with Cruella and Captain Hook, too. I bring it up because obviously the target audience of those movies are the most impressionable among us.

I think whats missing in sympathic villains is that they aren't ever called out for the shit they do, its like you sympathize with the abuser because he was abused, those villains can more be like cauntionary tales that tell the audience that you have to end up like these people, you should seek help and improve for better, not raise Narcissistic people who will go "yOu dOnT kNoW WhAt I wEnT THROUGH"
@williammkydde
@williammkydde Жыл бұрын
By my observations, many people intuitively identify with evil characters even without being lead on by the script. But I agree with you about Maleficent, Hook and many other examples. The thing is, they don't show actually cruel and evil things the Bad Guys perpetrate, for fear of traumatizing the viewers (talking of being "nice"). So, Captain Hook is just introduced as "bad", but he does not really kill or torture anybody in real time; as a result, you're supposed to hate him just because of his "bad" label. Moreover, the good guys are often of a very dubious quality. So, then Maleficent becomes the feministic heroine and victim of abuse and slander, while all men in the story are jerks. This is intentional, no doubt.

im torn. on one hand, i do like narratives that show the other perspective. villians who believed what they were doing was the necessary evil or were simply mislead to believe that had no other options. that can be interesting and indeed deepen the moral lesson if done correctly, however nowadays its rarely done correctly i'll honest, i liked the movie maleficent, or at least the ending. it did have stupid undertones of social justice junk, but it was really moving that the villain actually and genuinely regretted doing her curse, as she saw her own hate harmed an innocent person. thats what is important, that there was actual regret for actions instead of enabling the evil.

The very word of "chad" is actually the product of the sexual revolution. Yeah, chads are basically male hypergamy. Just look at some of the most famous "chad" or "G". For example, the Tate brothers. They are basically male hypergamist who's having multiple wives. The act of calling people "chad" actually puts the label to people who are actually normal and pressure them by making them think that they themselves are inadequate compared to those hypergamists. This makes normal men become insecure or worse, making them avoid women altogether. (Creating movements like MGTOW, red pills, etc.)

Concerning the influence of TV always reminds me of part of a common audio test recording. It's about the history of electroacoustics. The particular section is "During WW1, Two financial groups in the United States realized that the infant motion picture industry could become as influential in forming public opinion as the daily newspaper. The leaders of these two groups understood that they were not in the newspaper business, or the publishing business, but rather in the business of influencing communication. The first group backed the Bell telephone laboratories and Western electric. The second group backed what was to become RCA." The thing to take away is that, as early as the interwar period, people like this knew that they could use entertainment to control people.

Yeah, I think it's connected to the general rebellious attitude that became popular since the sexual revolution. There are a lot more people that are trying to get rid of the notion of parents' rights, because the modern conception of rights is backwards. The catholic view of rights is more closely linked to obligation. For example, a parent has an obligation to educate and raise their child, therefore, the child has a right to be educated by his parents. In the same way, the child has an obligation to obey the instructions of the parents, and so parents have the right of obedience from their children.

another issue is western approach to schooling doesn't teach kids good morals or how to be a good person only to educate and give them intelligence. The honest one, which is zero, which then the other party begins acting like their superior, as they've unlocked some great form of enlightenment that I am not worthy of, or the second one (and imo better one) which is "That's a very private question" to which the other party yet again comes to the conclusion that I am a virgin and avoiding the answer because I am embarassed, which I'm not. I'm personally choosing to save myself for marrige, which 80 years ago was the norm, but is now incredibly difficult to find someone with the same values as you. I am amazed to find a fine made video about this on the english speaking side of yt. I am from Poland, common running joke is that we always get things from the west like 30 years late, but today our own society is on the moral crossroad. On the internet there are many videos, shorts etc presenting Poland as this bastion of traditionalism and christian values, but this is not how the things are going (maybe in comparison to the Western Europe we stand out, but thats beyond me). There are companies, policies, external and internal powers forcefeeding our society with said sexual and moral revolution, pulling people away from religious and patriotic values, promoting liberalism and generally mocking everything connecting us with our roots. Today living in Poland as 21 y.o devout catholic male studying at university is standing constantly in opposition to what everyone says and expects of us, and I have to say I lost many friends to this rotting disease. And it has to be said, the forces we are at odds with can overpower us at any moment, there isnt any way we can wage literal war on them except self improvement, sticking together, spreading the word and standing straight, not bowing to the powers of this world. I just hope that we can outlast the revolution and be the ember wich will reignite the fire of our nation in the future.

Finland, used to be 99 % Christian nation (although majority Lutheran) and in only about 20-30 years this has gone down to less than 70 %, and the Lutheran church blessing same-sex couples, essentially giving in to the Spirit of the Age. We also have allowed changing your legal sex as well, not to even mention abortion and birth control. Calling homosexuality a sin publicly will practically get you ostracised. In addition, the Bible instruct to believers never to engage nor to face certain types of sins but to run away from them, and sexual immorality is one such type of sin. In Biblical context to "run away" means not to seek them out nor to experience them. The reason is obvious in that sexually stimulating things may and can stimulate us to the point of overwhelming our rationality, reasoning, and senses. For example, porn addiction once it becomes a vice it is just as addictive as drug addiction, nevertheless, your body does not physically reacts in pain when one watches porn for extended periods of time unlike with drug addiction.

I could say a lot, but all I'll sum it up by saying: It all goes back to this. The economy, mental and physical health, civilizational cohesion, feminism, hierarchy, etc. Man tries to defy God's most fundamental rules in the family, and the family dies. With it, so does the civilization. It's only a matter of time. We are at a critical inflection point in America, where even most of our great grandparents did not know a sexually healthy civilization. We must openly defy not only our liberal parents' wishes, but also our grandparents. This struggle is penance. With it, we shall create good times, God-willing.

The sexual revolution I was thinking about that this morning, I remember a prison cellmate in his 60's talking about what a great time it was in the 60's with free sex. I was like yeah the free sex was you getting free sex and the woman maybe getting pregnant. And then you were done with them. Today nobody gives a shite because they'll just rip that little life out of the moms cooch and make her able to do it again. Yeah it's none of my business. But it is too. That time and up until the Roe V Wade thing, it's been an issue of telling people what they can or can't do. But one thing I did see was an ultrasound of a infant who they were aborting. It was the most bizarre thing I ever saw, the most evil. The killing of a baby in the 9th month is in the zone of the Nazi crimes against humanity. Especially with so many parents unable to have children. I laughed at a woman who was bringing a lawsuit against the AMA and Gloria Steinem among others, after having umpteen abortions she finally felt secure that now she could have kids. But one problem. Her fallopian tubes wouldn't accept her husbands sperm. The specialist told her that any more than 3 abortions would render her infertile. And adding insult to injury she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Again, over 3 abortions and the chance of getting ovarian cancer is up 85 percent. When's the last time you heard them talking about that on the news?

People dont realize that individualism did not stem from sexual revolution, it stemed from capitalism that inevitably led to isolation, it becoems obvious when people look into the economy that followed, especially with Reagan. With sexual revolution people had more connection, which capitalism consequently prevented more and more. It is fascinating how they find scapegoat in something that promoted more connection and sex, which it really had until economy went nuts. Protestantism contributed to or created this problem. Protestantism is founded on the notion of "examine the Bible for yourself." The problem is, everyone comes to different conclusions when they do this. Some of them reject the Bible altogether. When you tell your kids to be free-thinkers and skeptics, you can't add any exceptions to that rule- they will be skeptical of the exceptions too. The nanosecond you remove tradition, you might as well just make everyone gay and trans, because before long the skeptics will start to disagree with you that homosexuality is wrong or that men and women exist. I recommend Orthodox Christianity. It is the only long-term stable version of Christianity, and it has been around since the very beginning.
@TheSpicyLeg
@TheSpicyLeg Жыл бұрын
This is simply false. The materialist ethic known as the “prosperity gospel” is a small but loud minority that attracts unwarranted attention because it sells a tempting lie. After all, it is easier to get the secular youth in if you sell them “bro Jesus” who wants to pump up your bank account rather than real Jesus who tells the rich young ruler to sell all his possessions, give away the profit, and follow Him. Most evangelical churches teach none of that blasphemy. The real issue in evangelical churches today is legalism. I heard of a local pastor that told the congregation that looking at pornography is fine, as long as you don’t feel sexual attraction for the actors or actresses. Suuuurem that’s why people use pornography so much.

Well this cathloic channel is definetly spinning a narritive when it infers that Catholics especially pushed sexual morality. And do we not remember whats been going on in thier churches for decades concerning children? Yes even "back then" it was happening. So I wouldn't be impressed by anything these people say. Also Evangelical is not the only opposite denomination of Catholicism. In fact before the Catholics were even allowed in this country, Methodists, Puritans and Baptist were the three main denominations of Christian beliefs here in America Methodists becoming the largest at one point. But the Catholics are good about hiding the fact they are a dying denomination and the rising one is in fact "non denomination". Stay in the Word for truth stay impressed by Jesus Christ alone.

But that's based on a false premise. While approximately 1/3 of all women died in childbirth, less than 20% of males ever reached 60 years of age due to war and labour-related accidental death. I was born and grew up in China and only had first contact with Christianity in my mid-30s after migrating to the west. Although I was baptized a few years ago(twice as a matter of fact), I have to admit it's not a journey without struggles for me. To be honest, my relation with the Christian faith has been partial, on-and-off and kind of casual. But I found your video informative and intellectually stimulating and frankly better than most sermons I have listened to at a variety of churches. Given my amateur understanding of the Bible, please correct me if I'm wrong. As per Bible's claim that humans are sinful by nature, we are intrinsically self-destructive and bound to fall as a race. This does explain the cyclical and seasonal nature of civilizations. So my question is, if we are fundamentally flawed creatures in an extremely unforgiving world, why bother to continue the race? I'm not saying "you should not have kids because they will die one day". I'm saying so many things that could happen to a human being are much worse than death, and look at this hopeless mess we live in. Seriously, why keep fighting if it's so bloody difficult and expensive to win but the victory is always transitory and full of compromises anyway?

I think the sexual revolution also had a role to play in the obesity epidemic in America. Before the 60s the traditional home consisted of a husband who worked and a wife who took care of the kids. Since women had all this time at home, they could also put it towards making a good homecooked dinner. These dinners would have lots of protein, fruits, and vegetables, and the kids would often be out playing with their friends, burning off more calories and keeping them in shape. Since the 60s, however, the family structure has been destroyed, and alot of people are single. This means that after they get off their 9-5s, they will go to a fast food joint to grab a quick bite, as you wouldn't wanna spend 1-2 hrs cooking after an 8 hr shift. The flavor in the food leads them to want more and more, leading to more and more calories per day, leading to obesity.

Fitness was also a core part of public school, with routines in gym classes. There’s some videos in the 50s and 60s of American schools with pretty crazy gym exercises. The kids all looked physically great too

yep, this new way of living literally makes so that families spend less and less time together & keeps us dependent on government for survival. the sexual revolution was a psyop; it only hurt women and no one can convince me otherwise.

Yeah I have seen those videos and some of the fitness routines was athlete level crazy. This is coming from a guy who spends 10 hours a week at the gym doing it hard

The biggest problem with promiscuity is that it creates chaos. Unwanted pregnancies, jealousy, and addiction to pleasure all bring chaos into one's life and chaos is the enemy of stability and prosperity.
