i just watched it and it's a very good movie. But, that subway scene reminded me a whole lot of the scene from Inglorious Basterds when "The Bear Jew" is introduced and while he's walking out of the dark tunnel he taps his bat on the wall. Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.. In The Batman it's footsteps.
@theandrewfowler2 жыл бұрын
to add to this when he goes into the club as Batman he says: “do you know who I am?” and they laughed which shows that his fear hadn’t reached that far up the chain, until he gave them a good ol’ Batman beat down and chased down the penguin. They thought they were untouchable, until he showed up, and now they realize that NO-ONE is safe from the Batman, not even them.
@TheShadowreaper1792 жыл бұрын
The scene also started the character development for Bruce to see that sometimes being Bruce Wayne can be just as if not more effective. (Getting into the place right away when he showed up there as Bruce, even asking for Carmine instead of Penguin)

The scene where Batman gets shot with a shotgun and almost gets killed shows how realistic and perfect the fight sequences were. And also the glider scene where his parachute gets stucked and he gets knocked out on street. Batman's imperfections is what made this movie soo realistic and something to connect with.

Great movie, however... in this scene in particular, if Batman is the "shadows" and criminals are terrified of Batman and everyone knows of him, then why does the leader of this gang greet Batman with a condescending laugh saying "who the hell does this guy think he is"? The leader should be shitting his pants knowing that his whole gang is about to get their asses kicked. Liked the movie, but I'm a stickler for plot holes.

It reminds me of an intense feeling of the one in the Nolan series - the Dark Knight (I think) when Gordon throws on the Batsignal and a colleague asks him why and he says its to let people know Batman is out there and this crook bricks it when he sees the signal and tells his friend he's not going to do the job. However, I do like the fact that the crooks - every single one - bricks it when they see the signal because they think Batman's in the shadows, or in the air, or in the alley and the thing about it all? They never say anything: they all just look like over their shoulder thinking they know they done wrong and something is coming. Vengence? no....PUNISHMENT. Punishment is coming. (That's quoting another superhero though).

I love how realistic the fight scenes were in this one, compared not only to Nolan's or Snyder's Batman, but to the superhero genre overall... The hero gets worn-out, he gets outnumbered, he can only take himself so far, it takes him time to get back on his feet and the criminals also take their time to recover, it's just incredible and it really helps set the tone for the story... Beautiful movie. Bruce was unhappy, tortured, unsure, inconsolable and reluctant to live a normal millionaire's life. He acted out his rage as a vigilante. Every character was integral to the whole story and not gratuitously shoehorned in unlike some characters in the Batman movies of the past, like the model emerging from the Christmas cake in Batman Returns.

The cinematography reminded me of a live action BTAS. And it worked great. I felt the story went in a different direction of the mystery and was a great example of his detective skills. My problem was the reason for donning the cowl, vengeance. It was for justice. Batman was created always for justice. That's why Batman doesn't kill. His pursuit isn't to seek revenge for his parents murder but help the city his family built.

I love the casting for The Riddler. Something so weird and realistic seeing the actor, who for my money, has a weird baby face-ish quality to him carry out such smart and thought out crimes. Like, it portrays our reality of how our lovely next door neighbour could be hiding corpses in his basement so well. The Riddler, while masked and probably altering his voice through software/the mask itself distorting it, does sound like a huge scary guy and then when he is finally caught and we see his face its like "Thats the guy! He's so... so.... ordinary!" which is scarier

In costume, Pattinson cuts a regal and noble figure. The cowl with the longer, sharper bat ears evokes classic, comic book Batman by the likes of Neal Adams and others. So much to like, but one is how Batman spares that gang initiate who, symbolically, has only half his face painted as he’s about to complete his initiation into full criminality (and sociopathy)! Terrific film making!

I think the introduction of the Joker is beyond everything, and the introduction in TDKR is very ambitious and it achieves that ambition. I don't think this introduction was better, it was more realistic or more pure of Batman, but the other ones are on a different level. There was inspiration in this film in TDK, for example the interrogation of the riddler has some similarities with the joker-bale scene. Paul Dano made an outstanding acting

I still can’t get over how well Colin Ferells Penguin makeup is. He fully embraced the character and is unrecognizable as his real self. I love this version of Gordon, the Riddler embracing the crazy hyper intelligent villain persona ala Heath Ledgers Joker even though nothing can best that perfect villain, Paul Dano did a dang good job. The brutality of this Batman even surpasses the brutality of the Batman V Superman Batman. But what really did it for me in this movie is in his opening narrative dialogue when he spoke about the size of the city, how he cannot be everywhere at once, and that he needed to carefully choose where he would go in which felt like a critique of other Batman films that always seem to give Batman the ability to be everywhere.

Then a fleet of school busses casually drives past and they JOIN in the middle of that fleet off busses directly from the bank with rubble and bricks and dust still on the bus. Like, how is this just fine? 2. Why would the CIA put masks on people and wait all the way until they are on the flight to unmask him. Like, they put masks on them before actually finding out who they are or even searching them for weapons and stuff. And how did no one notice Bane's mask in the first place when they put the mask on? Also, Bane says he wants it to look like an accident, but the plane is shot up and full of bullet holes and so on, like there is so much evidence that it's not an accident.

I hate to compare this version of Batman to the Nolanverse batman. However lets be real...nolan set a pretty high benchmark into the Batman title. One thing that nolan did that caught my eye was the fact that everything was explained. From the suit capability, to how the badpod even ejects off the tumbler and ofcourse nolanverse batman being a more matured and experienced one he had more gadgets. In Vengeance i felt that lacking. The set being bruce wayne in his 2nd year of crime fighting i loved how they narrated everything so well. But one thing everyone has forgot to mention is how reckless batman was in taking up certain decisions with his limited tech and armor. The scenes that killed my emergence in this movie were the train station scene where he literally walked into a couple of men with automatic guns in yes...great body armor but cargo pants? Scene 2 was exploding off from a bomb at that range in the church and not a scratch on his chin area? And the ending scene where his body armor just soaks up a shotgun shot at close range? I do not know about you guys...but batman is just a dude with great willpower underneath that suit. Nothing else. 2 years of experience and limited gear i would not have potrayed batman to literally take on so much risks. It is not logical and logically he would not have survived that long. A single half a second frame where bruce removed his cowl showed that it was not even a hard piece of armor but just literally a rubber cowl but it was unscathed in the explosion, not a splinter at all. Everyone in gotham is just shooting at his chest, while his balls and knee caps had not been shot off during his night quests for 2 years is illogical. I rather had all of villians just used handguns and not automatic high powered guns. Any recoil would have rendered this batman dead surely. So was all gotham villians having low iq and great experience in holding a high recoil AR or batman has been lucky to not get shot all this time? It is the little details that explains batmans existence that makes batman, Batman. I was disappointed by the logic of the action scenes as limited as they maybe. I would have just made batman fought multiple men and getting hit by random baseball bats and knives. Not automatic guns with a full clip solely and only unloaded on the chest area of Batman. Whole in whole Batman vengeance is a very good movie. But the gribes that I have about logic really put me off. I know it is unfair to compare this to nolans version as they are both narrated well. But it is reality and with some empathy you can easily relate to the bruce wayne character while you watch and immerse yourself into this movie. But in the middle of the movie i realize, "nope...i been dead if i do that in real life" multiple times. IMO alot of content creators currently saying this batman is a "Masterpiece" without even actually admitting this facts is just mind boggling. Everyone seems to be just hoping on to some domino bandwagon and just following what everyone has said before. A good movie being narrated nicely is nothing new. But making everything come to life is hard. And Batman Vengeance missed that fact. In summary...the chestplate that Batman was wearing in this movie is worth more than the batcycle, drifter and the batmobile put together honestly. That piece of metal made all villians only shoot at that area, was able to protect even his head, and is not even damaged at the end lol. With only google glass contact lenses tech, i think bruce wayne in this movie has discovered vibranium in the Marvel universe and visited friggin wakanda.

This makes me really want to see this film. I much prefer this to the past comic book type characters.

The Bat-narration bookends of the movie were definitely the high points of it for me

There is a prequel book that explains everything leading up to the Batman “year two “ . From his birth , history , to how it leads up to the Batman movie . I recommended it
