Yes, Kurzgesagt made some pretty big assumptions with this video. As Carl Sagan has pointed out, on a galactic scale resources are so abundant and space is so large there is no incentive to seek conflict with anther intelligence civilization. The mutual benefits of making contact would almost certainly out way any risk of violence

Kurzgesagt adds 10,000 to all of their calendars, to celebrate the 12,000 year history of human civilization, beginning with the advent of agriculture. That way, no date in the history of civilization occurs in a "negative" year! By the way, they uploaded a new video a few days ago, about whether or not other "alien" civilizations existed on Earth in the distant past. Also, I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend watching their "What is Consciousness" and "What is Intelligence" videos. I think you'd love them!

There probably was water on Mars. Hell, it probably existed on Venus. Now it doesnt mean complex life developed there but even if microbial life was present on those planets that would mean that the chances of us being alone in the universe drops to near zero.

if we met with another humanoid or alien species at an equal or more advanced level of civilization first we should see what we have in common and create a basis for communication based on that common ground and Expand from their. preferably peacefully or not. for instance whether we need similar resources to survive, our cultures and similarities in said cultures and an understanding to learn about each other in a peaceful manager. then relations could progress from there. one of the biggest hurdles would be communication whether that's the first people who meet in person with them or even across space. creating a reliable form and basis for communication would open a magnitude of possibilities. knowing what not to say to each other and not what we should say is more important as we would not want to offend or seem aggressive towards them. I Personally hope we meet a more advanced civilization in the future. reason being they could help us solve some of the issues we have on our planet, Global warming, resource depletion that will become unsustainable the more our population grows, poverty, war (a big one that i doubt will change anytime or anywhere). to call us a peaceful species would be a massive lie however we are not all that bad either. we managed to create medicines for illnesses and disease that would kill most creatures in the wild without said medicine including our own. there is many other stuff we have done for the planet as a whole however we have also done a lot of bad and fight amongst ourselves. It would be near impossible for us to all unite if we are all not willing to understand even the difference in our own species cultures from around the world. so imagine meeting an alien species with their own opinions and different cultures. would we discriminate against them just because they have a different culture to us. most likely. unless things change to the global mindset of humanity. Best outcome - we create relations across many species and help each other solve issues on a planet to planet and interstellar scale. worst outcome - we piss them of a war breaks out, depending on difference in technological scale we could lose in a matter of a single blink in the perspective of time. sorry for ranting this stuff has always intrigued me lol.

I think we should not look for sentient intelligence alien. We should definitely look for another biological life form be it a micro organism on another terrestrial bodies. 4:30 cmiiw but I think you're talking about the high amount of phosphine in the venus atmosphere that possibly have been produced by micro organism because that's how phosphine was produced here on earth.
