In an interview for a human resource position; my boss asked me the best sales question ever ! He asked: how tall is the pyramid? I said: I don't know....He said: Guess! I wanted to act real smart, so I also played it safe and said I don't know... He said: you have to give me a guess... So I said maybe 100 m... He said you didn't ask which pyramid....! Then he said trying to understand exactly what the customer wants or is asking about, can help you a lot....

Pure nonsense. That only works with clients, who are authentic themselves. Nowadays a whole lot of people are selfish to the core and utterly unrealistic. Call them narcissists. They are entitlement in person and cannot be satisfied. They will break the contract and when you remind them of it, punish you with several 1 star reviews, just out of sheer spite. We are kind and authentic people, who rather give more, but there still are limits. These people don't respect limits as a default. They love to abuse and hurt you. It's so bad, that I've come to despise and fear the next clients. You cannot see up front, who is going to become the bastard and who is human still.

Really enjoyed Peter Sage's segment. As someone starting out in a sales role at a small, new, and growing company, I've found that our best customers so far are those who see the real value in us first, and then "bear with us" through the rest of the selling process. When you first start out, you don't have all the whiz-bang scripts and automated systems that make selling and buying a totally smooth process. That's why, as Peter emphasizes, it's an absolute prerequisite to establish true, organic rapport and so develop a working relationship that allows you some "padding" in the occasionally bumpy ride of a growing business.

Transference of emotions Exchange of values Win/Win Outcomes It's easy to sell people who already want what you provide Remind them of their desires and needs Amplify pain and imply scarcity touch on their fears and frustrations Go for agnostics and believers not atheists Selling is honest, genuine, high integrity human to human conversation Empathy is key. Show people you actually care and are interested in helping them and not just about making money Listen and let prospect talk more about themselves and their problems Let them sell themselves on why they need what you're providing Ask questions to gage their actual need for what your product or service can do for them If it's not a good match don't try selling them on something you know deep down won't benefit the prospect. They have to be certain and have a high level of trust about you, your product and your organization A script is necessary like Tim Ferris says the written word can be reviewed and edited and improved upon Authentic connection and wanting to ADD VALUE, THATS ALL!

What Peter Sage said about the art of selling is on point. 90% of a sales conversation should be focused on understanding the potential client by asking skilled questions to uncover their problems deeper than surface level - how it affects them emotionally. Only 10% should be focused on committing the customer to the sale (aka closing). When they trust and like you, they are a lot more open to working with you (buying your product or service). Cheers for sharing Evan!

Connecting with the real needs of the people, as well as with what they want, and sincerely guiding them even if it means not selling to them is the best way to be successful in every aspect of life. There is no better richness than making people happy. Great thought of Peter Sage. I loved the whole video, excellent work Evan! Thanks for sharing. My advice is: Don´t sell just for selling, be sure that the buyers are going to genuinely enjoy the product or that the will really benefit with what they are buying. Money doesn´t buy happiness, be happy first knowing that you are actually doing good to the costumers that buy from you. Don´t sell products, sell happiness.

Neither did most of us. But you have to do the work. For me it was the Library for plot points (I'm 43 so not that old I hope) Then reading about ever one I admired, then audio books , Then you tube. It has to be Zig. Many of us do not recognize the fact that every single day, moment even, we are selling some service or the other to loved ones, to bosses, to our own selves. We pay the least attention to being aware of it. If there is earnestness and intention to sell whatever we have/do with all our heart, then there is no effort required to sell at all. The trust is already built, and this is all visible on the face and in the gait of the seller.

Thanks for posting and sharing this...Loved Peter Sage talking about how the top sales people of the world go through the same steps as the average sales people of the world but spend more time in step 1 building rapport (TRUST) - as a Sales Manager - I teach this exact same philosophy to my sales staff!

Wow... those folks can get so excited about their product and what they have they completely overlooked what the customer wants, in a sense. If you listen to the customer you can then relate how your product actually fits their needs a little better. Providing it actually does

My biggest struggles with sales is one rejection, I can handle face to face rejection. I did direct marketing door to door and saling in stores. Absolutely no problem getting my no's but for some reason I can't seem to muster up the courage to make the required phone calls i need. Phone sales is a great weakness. I never like talking in the phone in the first place now I need it in order to make my business a success. My other pain stake about phone sales is that I don't know the right opening questions to ask so that I know that I atleast prequalified them so I can get the right feedback.

Asking questions is always the best way to approach sales. We have to identify the prospect's interests and needs, and not 'assume' we know what they want. Thanks for highlighting that key point. #BTA265 GT :)

Hi Evan, thank you for this great video. Such great content. What really spoke to me what the authenticity piece and I think that is what has been slowing down my sales. I can get so much focused on selling that I'm forgetting why I'm selling which is to transform people's lives. When looking back all my great sales happened when I was authentic and creating rapport with my clients without anything in the back of my mind...so thank you again for this great reminder!

Thank you for this video Evan Carmichael . My opinion about sells and every relatioship in this world is COMMUNICATION skill if you have any other skillsets but you are not a good communicator you will not have a good business relationship with anyone . Honestly, a lot of times people start selling a product with the genuine intention to help those who really need it, but along the way they become too engrossed, confused and start seeing EVERYONE having a need for their product. Even if there is obviously no link between the client's problem and their product, they will convince him, in some way after going to the moon and comeback, that the product they are selling is the solution. Or they will find a problem for him on the spot and direct him to the product. They may not even realise it, because they started with a good intention and still thinking that they are helping their client.

I love the view of Peter Sage, I resonate so much with his words. It's all about deep connection between the Business owners and the customers, and also building the trust in this connection, and it certainly pivotal in having a successful business. To me having great and sincere intention in making difference to the world is where the foundation is needed in such Entrepreneurship rather than having to be solely as following the capitalism's protocol.
