Why is your #personality #fake? The #socialization process (which parenting is at the core of) could be a process of enabling a child to unfold according to that unique blueprint. But this is not the world that we currently live in. We live in a world where the process of socialization is usually an impediment to this process of unfolding.

Some parents think that children need to be ‘raised’. No they need to be guided and nurtured.

This is something I have always said. If parents realized this, I think less people would become parents because guiding takes much more time and sacrifice than to just raise.

This is an intergenerational cycle of parenting handed down from generation to generation to raise children or guide and mentor them into fully expressing their unique selves as they grow. My siblings and I did manage to break the cycle of violent physical abuse but those who had partners who had parents who accepted and nourished them were very helpful in this regard to parenting but those who did not have partners from this parenting style struggled or could not use parenting skills they had no experience of.

@@dianaboughner7977 You are a wise woman Diana. I know breaking the cicle is not easy when you fo not have that model in your family. You have to start a new way out of your connection with your inner self. And we know starting new ways is always difficult. However, as you say, our parents were also victims from their parents, and did their best to provide their children with those things they considered necessary to grow. We must be thankful no matter how hurtful this may have been to us. Actually those 'good things' they did for us gave us the strength to overcome our shadow.

Funny thing is, when you wake up and start to be more yourself the people in your circle will be upset by it. My mother for example, she keep saying I'm acting strange, that I was never like these before ( having my on opinion, don't accepting everything my family says as truth, choosing my on path, doing my on things... ). I realize that the person I was before was not me, that person existed just to please her family and loved ones. The real me is way different, and people usually dont like that. They dont like original people, the ones that choose to follow their unique path instead of following the predictable script. But I feel better then ever now, being the real me. And I dont feel guilt for let other people expectations down anymore.

It's not the worst way to be raised really. This style of parenting made me a perfectionist with my photography and I was working at a professional level at a very young age because of it. Had my mom said 'good job, this looks great' to my earlier works I wouldn't have continued trying to get everything as perfect as possible. Her lack of praise and feedback had me feeling like my work could always get better, and it did.
@valedro
@valedro 4 жыл бұрын
It can be hard coming up with these answers for sure. Try to compare and contrast your childhood with lives of people you knew or even people from other cultures. Another thing you can try is observe what your parents or caregivers did habitually. For example, in our house everyone read books. I was raised to read lots of books, and they had to be serious classics. I wasn't really praised for it out loud, it was just "the norm". (And this wasn't how it was in some of my friends' houses.) Try looking for "the norm" in your childhood life.

Well this is divine timing as usual from Teal! I was at my friends house a few days ago for a birthday party and we got talking about Spirituality and religion. I was obviously coming from the spiritual side, whereas they were coming from the religious side. I was just thinking literally for most of today how our personalities and beliefs are just constructs; some of that being passed down by our parents. I encourage all to seek out your inner divine truth.....and then run with it! Be aligned to the best version of yourself! Another video for the vault, Teal!

Amazing..in alignment with what you are saying, you explaining to me the distortion behind my own reasoning, I posted this on Facebook 3 hours ago: " Inner child work - I have been afraid of expressing my needs and wants since childhood, been feeding of breadcrumbs of emotional satisfaction. In my twenties I realised that it was easier for me to interact with strangers because it was liberating not to be confined in my own beliefs and expectations and even more the ones dear to me - their beliefs and expectations. This gave me the realization that I have been preferring to deal with one friend at a time, in social gatherings being withdrawn even though I'm not that introverted, but purely because I've been mirroring the person/situation/energy/my expectation of their expectation without having a solid core of my own. It has only been shown to me when thinking about gathering my friends for a party for example, where anxiety have arisen for judgement from my friends or that they would not like each other. I've been a mask of my belief of what I thought they needed/wanted/expect of me. Given me the "power" of a chameleon, even in changing my dialect. Now is the time I'm taking my own core seriously and become secure in my own essence. 2020 for me was already in the beginning of the year "building foundation". It now makes sense to me. Love and light to all!"

So eye opening, thanks for sharing your level of conscience with us! I think that our family's expectations usually want us no harm, but since they are based on another generation's beliefs they often do. However It could be good to be aware that their worries do represent challenges within society. Example: parents expect son to be heterossexual, son turns out to be gay. Though we live in a much more open society, homophoby remains a challenge. Or in the case of the hardwork: we still live in a society which praises hard grinding work. It seems to me that assuming our true selves must come accompanied with a lot of patience and some disposition to teach. (Sorry If I spelled something wrong.. english is not my first language)

You might have been speaking just about me. However I realised, watching this, that both my parents were distorted just as much, if not more than I was. I used to blame them for everything but now I don't need to. Sometimes life brings you what you need when you need it. I can't thank you enough for this. Beautiful soul, as many have said

You look really good in this video!! Ya what I've realized the hardest part of finding myself is being able to just be myself without trying to suppress myself in any way to make others comfortable.

Great great great! Teal! As always.i love to listen to you and feel that your analysis matches well to my person..i create so much distortion that unique way out was to reset myself entirely through my own healing process of self-discovery...and overall it has been good..! Really good! Thank you so much!💛💚💙

Teal, this is such an important teaching. I have just started learning about The Enneagram, and your teaching is very much in alignment to the teaching of the enneagram. If only we were tought this in school. So much suffering would not appear if we knew, that our personality or ego structure is just a survival mechanism, and that we are so much more - and that we are born whole. Thank you Teal❤️

Video request: Please could you make a video on getting into relationships when your safety has previously only been in the 'therapist' role for people? You briefly discussed it in the last online synch workshop, where you explained setting clear boundaries of when you're in which 'mode', and that was really helpful but it also made me realise just how lost I feel with it. Practical examples are really helpful for me with understanding how to navigate it, so a guide of sorts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Teal...thanks so much for living your life´s mission. you are really giving "me" [us] many hints that are working to let my soul take over my personality and feelings. what I´m being more and more aware (until i know I´m going to finally get it) its the tool itself, of letting the 100% sincerity to be brought to the light of awareness. Blessings, from Argentina.

Thank you for the honesty that we dont have to say happiness, peace and joy. the last 25 years were nothing but challenges "to defend the distortions," its nothing short of a mental prison. to all reading you are valued, loved and today is a brand new day.

Teal swan is just not the person who you should count on to guide you to raise your consciousness/vibration. She’s a juvenile teacher at best, someone that can introduce a youth to such concepts but not suitable for those of us who are matured over the age of 20. IMO
