I JS that problem, have to remove to face of ice tray and then you will see the arm that opens and closes, use pliers to grab arm and force it in direction to unlock itself.

The condensor coils are probably dusty in the front/bottom of the fridge. Remove the kickplate and shop vac them/dust them off.

Water line might be frozen. Need to defrost it.

@@lynnh7694 Take the ice tray out and try to see where the waterline comes in. Turn off your icemaker and then use a hairdryer to melt the ice in the line coming into the icemaker. If you don't use your icemaker much, it will just sit there allowing the line to freeze shut.

Hello looking forward to subscribe to this channel ASAP, but today I just purchased a brand new Whirlpool refrigerator, Whirlpool Model # WRS555SIHZ06 side by side, I have two questions, first I notice that in this new model I purchased today, the compressor shuts off anytime you open the fridge door or the freezer door, and then turn back on when you shut the doors, is that normal? the second question is, what temperature should the freezer side, and refrigerator side, be if you set the temperature at the factory recommended setting?

Whirlpool fridge would not dispense ice. The motor, below the cube bin, must turn the auger and blades in the bin when the user calls for ice. There's a coupling between the motor and the auger/blades in the bin. If water gets in the coupling at the top of the motor, it will freeze and block the coupling at the bottom of the bin from seating properly. So, the motor turns but will not turn the auger/blades. You hear kind of a clunking sound as the bottom coupling slips under the top. Clean out the ice, careful not to damage the coupling. When clear, the coupling can seat properly when the bin is inserted. We lost electricity for about 30 hours. Ice in the freezer started to melt, leaving water all around. When it re-froze later, the coupling was iced over.

I had that issue. Pull out the tray and look at the back of the tray where the plastic turning mechanism is. If it is frozen around the sides it tends to push its self away from the motor and stop it from engaging the auger. If so. Run hot water over it. Should pop back into position as the ice melts. Also make sure the area underneath were the tray sits is clear of any ice chunks. Hope this helps

@@auroralopez7080 yeah it happens. Unfortunately this is so poorly designed that it gets stuck frozen and the cheap plastic release mechanism makes no difference. I have pulled the whole face off before and broke a plastic clip. Didn’t make a difference. It still freezes shut. Just pull like hell. Fortunately I didn’t pay for this fridge but I definitely will avoid this brand in the future. Cheap. Poorly designed

These whirlpool ice makers are complete junk! I’ve had this unit a little for five years, I have already had to replace the entire icemaker because it quit working. Then every 2 to 3 months it freezes up or ice gets stuck in it, and I have to pull apart and disassemble the whole thing again. Whoever designed this piece of junk is an idiot.
