Short video talking about Yugioh in 2022, because I played a lot of card games this year, and felt it important to make a video about it.
No hard feelings to The Act Man or anyone else who feels like the game has gotten out of hand, but I feel like we could all benefit from retro formats.

D/D/D is one of the coolest rogue decks with how wide all of its cards reach. It just has that Anime soul that makes you feel like you really are the only reason why anyone should watch Arc-V.

@@TheAverageGatsby So you like bare plank of wood characters? Was Zane from GX your favourite too? Who could ever call Declan better than Dennis or Sora? Seriously? Apparently being a great character means having no personality and running an overpowered deck. Who knew? Varis also isn't the greatest, but he has SOME personality, plus he's an antagonist so he has an excuse. Zane and Declan have nothing. Beating the main character is the only thing either had going for them. I just really don't like strong silent types, which is why Yusei is the worst protag, well, actually it's not the only reason, far from it.

Genya Kozlov I really just enjoyed how Reiji was a force of nature that did his own thing most of the show and didn't take shit from anyone. DENNIS GOT DONE DIRTY. That character was so damn good and they just threw him out. Shun being full fucking vengeance was metal as fuck and entertaining in its own way. Sora had a lot of great moments as well. And honestly i really liked Gong as a sort of more serious friendly rival for Yuya. While everyone is jumping around for these action cards he's immovable up till the moment when he finally actually uses an action card. Hell even Sawatari was fun with his Neo New Sawatari Shingo. Arc-V was a lot of fun, they just had a hard time sticking the landing, and lingering in 5Ds dimension for too long really hamstrung the pacing. Edit: so yeah what I'm saying is I'm having a bit of a laugh on Arc-V, it's not that bad.

Wouldn't mind a Yugioh series video and also I am so, so utterly lost with all the terminology here, I know it's a monkey paw's curse but I wouldn't mind a tutorial to not learn the game but pretend I have as well.

The game itself isn't that complex when you break down what is actually being done to its bare components. It gets complicated when you add in a massive card pool and shared interactions. I feel like that could be a great video, but I might not be the best guy to make it haha.

ok, so that answered nothing. why is yugioh still awesome? all i got out of that was, some dude made a funny video that you like and that yugioh is just out of control cause there is too fucking much to keep track of. there was a emergency ban? why is yugioh still awesome!? this just made me not even want to go back... So, last time i touched yugioh was just as Synchro started. Nope, I got no experience with META, didn't even know there was such thing till 2018. so, Duel masters is expensive, links is also expensive, card board is expensive, and the emulator needs me to know what i am doin. Good thing the Digimon and One Piece card game are out.

He explained it but people that didn't touch a card in 15 years might not understand. Basically it's an huge improvement to the consumer (player) experience compared to last years. Now we got an official duel simulator with a different format than the tcg, despite the meta shortcomings the new set have all been fire in terms of price/quality the high end stuff is still expensive but the overwhelming number of staples have been reprinted in a cheap way, plus the new structure deck was an actual gateway to competitive and alternative format are becoming more and more popular. This mean the game has become larger for almost all its targets from meta competitive people to old, casual player, to digital Faber that got tired for the light version of the game duel links had for years. It's not perfect and might even seem unenjoyable from the outside but from a player perspective this year is the first key to a broader future

The title is a mock on TheActMans video titled "Why Yugioh was SO AWESOME?!" Nothing more. Most people who never touched meta have no idea what the game actually was during the times that they claimed were so much better than the current gamestate. The only difference is now instead of having an oppressive 2 to 3 step process, most modern meta decks require a much more active piloting of combolines that vary between decks which overwhelm newer/more casual players. My solution to people who are going into these simulators to get blown the fuck out is that people should try out alt-formats as they are almost always cheaper especially when compared to modern formats or a gatcha game that you will lose interest in after being floodgated/ftk'd/otk'd a dozen plus times due to having dated knowledge of what the game actually is. As for that last remark, Pirate Vanguard isn't my cup of tea, but Digimon has one of the best resource systems in any card game currently on market imo. That also being said, Digimon also has some exceptionally powerful higher level decks that can also run you $$$ and require a similar set of skills when it comes to deckbuilding and piloting said deck. Not to mention each set is a race to majorly power creep the previous set which is a feels bad. All of these points can be said about most card games though. Anyway purple supremacy, hail Mastemon.

@TheAverageGatsby wow...I actually understood all of that! This makes things make more sense. So I can simply go back to season 1 yugioh rules and cards and enjoy myself without asking, why does my opponent has two decks (speaking about people having an extra deck just as thick as their main) . I might give those formats a try find my favorite one. Pirate Vanguard, hahaha. Never played vanguard but seeing some gameplay it does kinda play like it. So, getting into yugioh again. Physical seems the best way to do it aside from the unofficial emulators that give u a chance to try out cards and decks.

@MM I simply want the future of duel monsters to work. The biggest issue I have is having to go get the cards and then a few months later I can no longer use my cards. Ever heard of the Fur Hire? Never wanna go thru that again

S. W. E. D. GOAT and Edison are the two premier formats with larger audiences. Tenguplant being a more recent addition, but most definitely I would suggest players looking for a more simplified gamestate to check out those formats. But yeah it is a lot to ask of anyone to try the modern format in its current state, and Master Duel's best-of-1 format is the perfect format for blowout playstyles that wouldn't fly in a BO3. Also in terms of furhire, I mean technically they did just get some new cards printed but anything that isn't exactly IshTear or an IshTear counter is borderline not even playing Modern.
