Maxx C is not broken in that case, its broken when someone special summons a million times & then plays maxx c on the opponents turn to judt force them to pass.

@@TheAverageGatsby I believe roughly $100. There was a decent spike in players the same year that nullified a lot of prices on History Pack 1's reprints. Tunic went from $150+ to $100 to $200 to $80 thanks to an extra reprint.

2nd place Master Duel card.and probably 1st place TCG card is "Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring." Negates all effects that pull cards from your deck, and can be activated from the hand during your opponent's turn. In the TCG it just stops a bunch of combos at the start. In the OCG it's THE best counter to Maxx "C".

TO BE FAIR, for once it's justified discussion. The YGO community figured Multichummy Purulia would have been a replacement for Maxx "C", and could have actually been placed on the list had that been the case. The problem with Maxx "C" is that after setting up, you can still throw it down even after setting up going first. Multichummy addresses this problem with Maxx "C".

@@TheAverageGatsby fair enough I guess. I think purulia is really underwhelming in practice. It really only averages an plus 1, but it most of the time won't save you from any of the OCG 's best decks. I think people are gonna be for a rude awakening when this card hits the TCG.

@@TheAverageGatsby Tbh it's really hard to see Multchummy as "a replacement to Maxx C" when it's extremely underwhelming at what it does. If it still draws for every special summon and only has the "control no card" condition then maybe it can replace Maxx C. But even in the case that Multchummy was made to be a replacement for Maxx C in mind, if you just simply replace Maxx C with it, then it doesn't really change how the game goes. The second player use Multchummy, the first player still just Ash it because you losing 1 card to stop it is still better than letting them draw back 3 (assuming the player plays SE, the 3 summons from hand are Ash, Poplar and maybe Diabellstarr). Yes, you still let them draws less than if that were a Maxx C, so maybe you do have the option to just let the Multchummy resolve, but it still is something you want to negate if you do have the means in your opening hand. If anything, yes, I do think if Maxx C was to have the Multchummy restriction, it would be more balanced. But tbh, in modern YGO, if they go first and already made a board, they are already in a good position to win. The Maxx C they drop on their opp hardly makes a difference, except that it turns on Thrust and maybe Talent. Abusing this fact in my blind 2nd Sky Striker deck has been a success though, Thrust for Evenly and then I don't even have to give them a single card for Maxx C. At the end of the day, it's just a very strong card that you have to keep in mind when you choose what deck you want to play or what non-engines you want to run, just like how you most likely won't bring a deck that dies to a single Ash Blossom to a YCS (or maybe you do, if you're a Branded player).

@@jtalkalot19 theres that but to me multchummy is also counterintuitive to maxx-c as you will go from +3-+20 to + 1 to +9 and those cards you send away could just be your playstarters(unlikely but it can happen)

Which complaints would you say aren't warranted? At the end of the day, I'm just hopeful that SWU Set 2 does something interesting. FFG is showing some interesting design space with Set 2. The Smuggle Keyword is pretty neat, and capturing units is an interesting concept paired together with the Bounty system. I probably won't leave Yu-gi-oh! behind since I still enjoy it, and retro formats are finally being taken with interest. Anyone actually playing that game though could tell you how bad in the "Year of Fire".

I think hard control over most decks like this will be a thing of the past soon, whereas super aggro will just destroy these decks and make them much less likely to play these.

When I saw the set 2 reveal of Rival's Fall, a portion of my desire to play this game died. Leader removal for 6. I'm holding on cope for now, but Removal turbo decks are easily the most frustrating part of this game.

@@TheAverageGatsby If you can find a community for it I would recommend checking out some indie TCGs like Sorcery: Contested Realm. Inspired by old school MTG and has a tactical element. It only releases one set a year. Set 2 coming out later this year. Hard to find like Unlimited tho. Or Alpha Clash which has a lot of lore built into it and is inspired by Dragon Ball Super card game and MTG, and a little Yugioh. And Warlord is coming back after 20 years being gone later this year with a reboot. The indie scene is more innovative, and the cards look better too. Sorcery and Alpha Clash are all full art cards.

@IanM92 My official unofficial rule is to try and only play one tcg at a time because money. If I wasn't playing Yugioh or SWU, I'd be on Digimon. Other than that I just play a lot of Mahjong in my free time.

The competitive still touches Command Villain from time to time with things like Iden being the original control, Palp as a late game contender, and Boba's alternative to dual Cunning. The store showdown mentioned in the video was the weekend of the Vigilance Vader deck popping up. Control match ups are still the biggest sleeping pill Unlimited has to offer. Cunning Boba handles it nicely, Spark even out of aspect is a wildly strong card. In terms of Sabine's success, it's aggro, and if people like Control, rock beats scissors. Also that's the first time I've heard that take on Firespray. While it's just in my top 10, I can see why people would think that. It is strong enough to interest me in playing an Aggression Cad Bane for set 2.

@@TheAverageGatsby Part of that is that Green was perhaps the most "obviously good" color out the gate. Before the meta started diversifying in the past two months, the champ who won that first major tournament with Krennic Green went on a long spiel about the game on twitter (he was a TCG vet) about how he saw there being zero reason to not run green. But now, two months later, we see Red-Yellow, Red-Blue, Monoblue, Monoyellow, etc. winning big tournaments too. The spoilers for next set look great, but they actually so far seem to imply (at least, at first glance), that Monoyellow is going to get an even bigger buff, and it will be potentially disgusting lol. Re:Firespray, it'll probably not be nearly as good in Cad Bane since you lose that instant ready with Boba synergy. But crazy thing is, stuff like A New Adventure (and now Swoop Down, revealed today!) are going to make it an even more powerful card than it was already lol.

2024 "Year of Fire" Snake-Eyes Exodus is reminding me a lot of the Vanguard Exodus of ~2013.

Why is OB the best card for good reason though? A one sided board wipe that then pumps the unit for the phase is a card that Magic hasn’t even printed. I love when people say “it’s strong for good reason” to justify an incredibly overpowered card that is 0 fun to play against.

I play a lot of TCGs, but the ease of playability and learning curve of the game is seriously impressive. The resource system would be the 2nd biggest reason. Very smart design to avoid having to print lands while also putting another choice for the player to consider.

The game itself is actually very good if only a little too simple for my taste but I came from SWCCG (the man’s game). As more cards are made and more mechanics are added I’m sure it’ll become more complicated over time.

Most definitely. My approach to introducing it to people is just a straightforward, "Watch the first episode if you don't like it then it's not for you." As someone who loves Tokusatsu, I'm no stranger to people being unable to get past the hilarious silliness of the chosen story telling medium.

Where's the digimon content. Honestly, there hasn't been much to talk about so much so that even Digiknow is doing beyblade stuff. That being said, digiknow re-up'ing his Applimon video makes me want to revisit for a small discussion piece. I have the outline of a 02 movie script video floating around that I'm deciding what to do with. I'm thinking about starting up a digimon survive playthrough on the channel. I'm still looking to do more card game stuff since it is doing well for the channel, and I enjoy making it. Lastly, time constraints as of late have been brutal for me. This is just a hobby for me, but I'm hopeful life loosens up a bit soon.

@alexgreer6336 that's fair. I def felt it was a bit of a key jangling moment to get people talking about it. As for the Den of Drake thing, it's something I was playing around with at that time, doing intros using other random pngtuber models (Same with swapping outros around). Stopped being funny, and I just threw the concept out.

The Yubel deck costs quite a bit. Nightmare Throne is like 40 bucks atm on pre-sale, and honestly, it's probably due to the remainder of the LEDE looking pretty lack luster on the upper end. Not to say the new Rank 10 (another possible Yubel add-on) isn't good. Just that most people aren't trying to play the Yugi retrains. Also man fuck Maxx "c", enjoy Under the "C" coming in INFO.

I'd say check out the "how to approach yugioh" video I threw up where I suggest picking a linear strategy that looks appealing. If you're trying to avoid playing the combo game, I'd suggest playing a blind second deck where you just dome your opponent with things like Kaijus and board breakers. Playing on a different axis of play could throw someone else off theirs. If they are expecting balls to the walls combo, and they get paired against something like Stun/Burn/Floo chances are they aren't going to have a good time. If you're looking for something that interacts more with lower to the ground combo, check out Runick or Sky Striker. They don't necessarily play huge combo lines, but more look more to out resource grind your opponents.

Thanks for the comment. At the moment I'm not certain what I want to do with the channel. The Yu-Gi-Oh stuff I've been putting up recently has been doing numbers which is nice to see, but it's almost hard to want to work on that when I'm actively taking a hiatus from yu-gi-oh due to the current format. I do hope to come back to doing series reviews though as they were something I really enjoyed working on. side note, I will probably check No7 out. I see the first episode is available on youtube. It's really cool to see cartoons from other countries that aren't just Japanese anime. The Chinese have had a lot of success recently, and I could see that region getting more steam as animation continues to develop.
