You can hear the reference that Ariana has for character in the way that she sings the songs I mean yes she adds her own little space here and there, but it’s nothing so drastic that she wouldn’t recognize the basic melody and overall she does a splendid splendid job she truly took care of Glenda and I love it.

A lot of folks talk about how she tries too hard to sound like Kristin Chenoweth and IIRC I heard Kristin was on set or at one time a mentor. However listening to this, I feel like although it's *similar* it's still pretty distinctly Ariana in a lot of places. That's what homage is. I'm excited to see more.

Kristin is Ari's godmother and role model. Kristin also brought to life Glinda first and therefore established a style for Glinda that I personally think all other Glindas should try to embody a little bit at least. Like you said, I think it's wonderful to hear Ari pay homage to her in her own way.

From what I know Kristin is the most influential mentor for Ariana... I think she's mentioned this in an episode of The Voice where Kristin became a guest to help Ariana train her team. According to herself in a recent interview, she did extensive vocal lessons to train her voice out of pop Ari and into Glinda. She is incredibly passionate and dedicated to this role. She truly coveted it and worked so hard for it. People are sleeping on her ability to transform because she's never really had many chances to show her talent outside of pop stardom. I mean.. when she took off as a pop singer, she fuggin skyrocketed to outer space pretty quickly. I bet she had other dreams, plans and goals before that happened but they got put aside.

The first time we hear “you gonna be popular” needs to get whoever did that autone stitch fired. We know she’s morethan capable to do it. It’s probably a tuning thing so it’s perfect with the mix. But the audible audio jump is just cheap sound editing.

You know it is frankly easy to sing the second popular how she does especially when someone is singing using more nasal and glottal sounds, (btw i'm not a singer but i'm studying linguistics, so by no means am I an expert) it may sound a bit weird cause that's not the sound you expect to come out, but it probably isn't autotune.
