Dangit, those are looking really cool! Goint to be interesting what colour they end up being - maybe even chromed for the 'old school' look? At some time, can we expect some dyno' testing of these against the OEM manifolds - maybe some other diameters and/or lengths? Most trucks have a lot more room than this, so could be some potential for the home-tuner guys to make their own.

What is the logic on the extremely long tube headers? It has been a while (35+ years) since I've done any math/simulation on headers and I seem to recall using either ¼ or ½ the ideal length for the pulse wavelength in my header designs. Are these full 360° wave headers? What rpm is the engine designed to run at? Also, is it really worth all that length and potential flow resistance when you have a supercharger creating such a large delta pressure between intake and exhaust? Finally, did you say that an oil cooler was going to be mounted directly beside the driver side header? Um....? One thing for certain, those headers do look extremely cool!
@bartdaw66813 жыл бұрын
Hope the motor mounts are solid cause the driver’s side header might vibrate against the frame. That being said really nice fabrication by the header specialist.

What was the coating? Can it be used inside the engine also, like for oil galleys and the inside walls of the block?
@jeffwooton71383 жыл бұрын
Cerakote is the coating on the outside. Most folks use Glyptol for oil galleries. I guess you could use it on the inside, but it has a very detailed apply process; might not be cost worthy.
@badgermetal3 жыл бұрын
Ceracoat I believe. Short for ceramic coating.

NIC industries makes this paint. Cerakote is a ceramic coating. They also make powder coat paint.
@joachimsingh29293 жыл бұрын
Yeah make those pipes as close to each other with as much curve as you can and as long as you can to case less flow more heat and more pressure being lost that could be used by the turbo to make the least efficient exhaust ever. Really makes power.

Is there any reason you went for cerakote and not ceramic. I had all my turbo hot and cold side ceramic coated about 15yrs ago and has been a gem and still looks like day one. But I know Banks engineering know there stuff just wanted your point of view on the ceramic v cerakote?
@bankspower3 жыл бұрын
Cerakote is a ceramic-based coating. It's offers the best of both worlds. You get the heat resistant qualities of ceramic coatings, with a plethora of colors and finishes. We're so impressed with the product that we've partnered with them on a few upcoming projects.

One thing for sure about any shop building a car for Sema is they are unorganized. I mean each one is in a time crunch and everything comes down to the last minute. Meanwhile they have all year to build a vehicle for the show and not one shop is capable of getting things done ahead of time. As a customer I really wouldn't like knowing that my build wasn't done until the last second. I much more prefer my vehicle was inspected and tested before delivery not that they were still installing parts till I showed up for delivery
