I don't want to seem overly dramatic, but I must say, this is by far one of my favorite channels that I choose to be subscribed to. I just wish there was more camping/drinking/eating content. I, however, understand that Pat has his real life to live and simply can not put out a weekly video, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an unfortunately long time between awesome videos. Forgive me, just speaking my thoughts out loud when I probably should keep them silent. Thanks, Pat, for the good videos

Goodness gracious, I’m only five months older than you Pat. I officially became a ‘pensioner’ on Christmas Eve last year😌. I’ll receive my first state pension later this month - I got my travel pass a few days before my birthday. All I need now is my Winter Fuel Allowance LOL. Mill Houses Park brings loads of happy childhood memories to mind. My very first memories, if indeed they can be referred as such - they are now little more than ever fading stills, of being with my mom watching the old steam trains passing by, and seeing boiler-suited men, sporting cloth caps, working tirelessly on the railroad. I have equally vague memories of standing on the bridge over the railroad, near to what was once Pickford and Holland, not too far from where Tesco is situated, and the old Mosca Cottages, and seeing Mill Houses rail station, and the old coal yard in operation. There was a long paddling pool at the side of the Lido where I remember paddling - I must have been no older than five. If my memory serves me correctly, the Lido closed in 1978/79. I also remember the small leaf green boats, costing 6d for about five minute’s time on the lake, and the man in a small wooden garden-type shed by the side of the Mill Houses Park boating lake calling over the P A system, “Come in number six (or whatever the boat number was), your time is up.” Those little boats were propelled by handle powered side paddles. One huge reason I affectionately remember the cafeteria in Mill Houses Park was sitting at neat little wooden tables, sporting clean crispy white tablecloths, and little vases of freshly cut flowers, with my mom and grandma eating scrumptiously hot toasted tea cakes, with real butter and strawberry jam, and supping hot, loose leaf tea, with a dash of fresh cold milk, and sweetened with Demerara sugar. I also remember seeing the park groundsmen cutting the grass, and rolling the cricket pitch. A fellow, who my older cousin met whilst she was an undergraduate at the University of Sheffield, and who later became her husband, played cricket on that pitch during the early 1960s. The Robin Hood brings back a few memories. My wife and I often went in there for a meal. It is not too far from where my late grandma lived - Springfield Avenue - do you know it? - a stone throw away from the Cherry Tree pub (if it is still exists as a pub?). My grandma’s sister lived not too far away on the Knab Farm estate - she bought a bungalow from new in the 1960s at a place called The Lawns. The Waggon and Horses at Mill Houses was the more favored pub during the early 1970s. It held a disco every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. A popular venue on Sunday evenings for teenagers after attending Dobcroft Road youth club. Disco’s never did it for me - the music never appealed. A few friends and I usually went to the Broadfield on Abbeydale Road, or to the White Lion on Chesterfield Road. The company, and music, being Heavy Rock (as it was called those days), was more in keeping with our preferred tastes 😀 Man, I could go on at length talking about those lovely areas of Sheffield, along with the joyful memories I hold so dear. Cheers Pat, I certainly enjoyed seeing this video, continue to keep safe buddy, Phil.

" Come in No 6 "... I can hear those words now, on many a boating lake, such fun, probably only 7 or 8 and you were off on your own to play on the boats, would,nt trust my two to do that now. You certainly know the area and its history well, in the late 60 / 70,s I lived with my parents at Lodge Moor so Three Merry Lads was our first introduction to pubs, then Rising Sun at Nether Green, before moving to South Seas at Broomhill. We did venture over to the Wagon and Fleur at Totley, then into town for the club's, such simple times, no responsibility and no worry,s. Hopefully this year will improve as we get vaccinated and cases start to fall, it would appear we are both at a risky age, see you in the pub soon, thanks Pat

Yes, the 12 yr Glenfiddich is one of the most consistent whiskeys there is. William Grant do a great job with it. If I remember rightly, the shape and size of their stills used for the 12 year old hasn't changed since 1886! Personally, I love the 15 year old - even more than either the 18 and 21 year olds. It has a warmth to it that is lost with the extra refinement seen in the more aged whiskeys. Great video - I think my neighbours would think I'm crazy camping out like you did. I know my wife think I am haha!

That was a nice flat pitch you found- I hope you left it in a good state. Great to see the F&T tent out again- I remember you using it on a 70's thrown back video a year or so ago. I'm sure that video has lifted everyone's spirit a bit. Cheers Patrick.

I have that tent! Still going strong. Bought it waaaaaay back in the 80s. Used it on a cycling tour in France a couple of years ago. Not exactly 'cutting edge' but keeps the weather out still!

I love the design of the tent especially the porch for cooking in, hopefully a few years left in mine, thanks Pat

Nice to watch your calming video Pat. Your supper reminded me of dinner at my Grandma's as a kid back in the seventies. Beef suet in gravy, stew and dumplings followed by home made rice pudding. No need to think about eating for a couple of days after that lot!

Nice surprise to see you out again, even if it is in the garden, keeping us all going through covid, thank you. Can’t beat proper dumplings. Breakfast looked great. Stay safe. Looking forward to the pub

Glenfiddich is a lovely whiskey Pat, one that I am partial too in small amounts only of course:) I might try a garden camp myself soon. Happy birthday for May. I shall be 59 his year so still some way to go:) In May I shall ride up to Sheffield on my Royal Enfield Himalayan and have a few pints with you at your expense in your pub. Ah that would be good. Just make sure you have a good beer on:)) See you then:) Sandy

Hi Sandy, it feels like I was 59 only yesterday, time has just flown by. If garden camping is all we can do then so be it, it's still time in a tent and all the fun that goes with it, let's hope things improve for May, all the best Pat

You obviously didn't make this video yesterday because there is heavy snow just up the road in Barnsley! Look forward to seeing outdoor videos outside your city at the end of the lockdown. I can almost imagine the savoury aroma of your stew and dumplings. Sheffield is a much greener city than the bits I have been through. I am reliving my memories of better times by doing drawings of all the upland and mountain areas I have been to!

I have to say camping is one of my favourite things to do when your opportunity arrives the first ever camping tent I bought when I was 9 years of age it was made in India 5 foot long and 3 foot wide 4 poles and look like an old sheet but no my brother counting it over the weekend in the back garden 52 years ago romantic things have moved on and got more better and advanced what is people like myself in you share it with the world
