There was a stretch from 2012-2015 were Watt was one of, if not the most, dominant players in the game. Nearly unblockable, even when he was getting double teamed. During those 4 seasons: Multiple 20+ sack seasons, led the league in tackles for loss 3 of those 4 seasons, 2 Defensive Player of the Year awards and completely reinvented the DT/DE position. His ability as a D-lineman to knock down passes at the line of scrimmage was like nothing the league had ever seen before or since.

J.J. Watt was a "walk-on" college player at the University of Wisconsin (a "walk-on" is a player who was not recruited by the college and did not receive a scholarship to play football - he "walked-on" to the tryout field to perform for the coaches as a regular student of the college during an open tryout session that coaches sometimes offer). There is a really good video of veteran NFL Quarterback and two-time super bowl champion Eli Manning attempting to "walk on" (in disguise) at Penn State - it is a great video extolling the college walk-on player(s) and what they bring to the game --- you might want to do a reaction on that video, as it really helps round out "college football" in the U.S.

JJ Watt was a one-in-a-million linebacker to come out in the last decade. When he was first drafted, Texans fans hated the draft-- they booed the selection. That man won the heart of the city in an instant. He was dominant. He had the drive-- the hustle. He loved playing football. When the city was aching from a catastrophic flood, he put us on his back and helped. Unconditionally. He is a legend in the city of Houston. He is a legend on the field. He is a legendary person. When hurricanes destroyed Texas, JJ raising millions of dollars, putting up the first million on his own, to help families in need. He comes back to his home in Wisconsin to do charity work, along with his other two NFL playing brothers, TJ & Derek. At his peak, JJ could not be stopped. He would get held on every down, opposing teams would have to put 2 guys, and sometimes 3 on him. He also broke Alex Smiths leg in half one time, complete accident but JJ is a mountain of a man. When you hear anyone say he reinvented the position, even when he didn’t get to the qb, the guy had great instincts and knocked down so many passes.

I knew the video was old when it didn’t show the famous pick of bloody JJ Watt playing with a broken nose. He just became part owner of Burnley Football Club so you should be seeing more of him in your neck of the woods

Nice reaction. Yes he's a great player / athlete. Also seems like an all-around good guy. A good role model for future players. Thanks for your reaction - always enjoy them. Also, i'd love to recommend legendary linebacker Dick Butkus for a future reaction. He would be another look back at athletes that helped shape the current game.

4:01 just a perfect inside spin. It's straight from basketball low post move, see Tim Duncan. Its not the spin. Its getting the right arm past the blocker and using it to pin the o-lineman to the outside and push by that makes the move work.

3:12 That commentator is professional contrarian Skip Bayless. I personally believe he just says unpopular opinions to start arguments on his show and drive up ratings and don’t put much stock into what he says. J.J. Watt! Pride of my home state of Wisconsin! Along with Lawrence Taylor and Aaron Donald, one of only three players to win Defensive Player of the Year three times. His younger brother TJ is also a winner of DPOY and currently stars for the Steelers and his other brother Derek also played in the NFL but he’s currently a free agent. Strong genes in the Watt family!

Thank you for the context Roger, really appreciate it! Yeah that sounds like something quite a few people try across various shows in all areas. We’d be hopeless at that as we’re impressed by everyone we watch 😂 Love that he’s from your Home State and that’s cool about his brother playing in the NFL too. String genes for sure

Before the injury Bug hit him. He was well on his way towards becoming the best DE in NFL history.... Old heads may not agree with my statement but it is true though. His first 5 years in the league was the most dominant we ever seen from a defensive player. But as stated before, injuries unfortunately started getting to him and he wasnt the same dominant player as he once was.

I'm a big University of Wisconsin fan where Watt went to college. He was so amazing to watch even back in college. I remember hoping my Broncos would draft him. Even though he didn't play for my team in the pros, I would still root for him to do great and loved watching highlights of him.

I have a longer video about possibly the greatest pure pass rusher the game has ever seen. LT and JJ are better overall defensive ends but DT is the king of the first step. He still holds the single game sack record. He has the unofficial college season sack record(it was before they started officially counting them). Peace guys and hope you're well. Video suggestion. On KZbin you'll find a video called "Rebels of Oakland." It's about the A's and the Raiders from the 1970s. In case you're not aware, the Raiders have won three Superbowls (77, 81, 84); but, they were a dominant force then with their biggest rival being the Pittsburgh Steelers with Terry Bradshaw; and the A's won three CONSECUTIVE World Series (72, 73, 74). This video is long (it was originally an HBO or Showtime production) so you'd have to heavily edit or break it up into manageable pieces for your channel. It's great at showing how sports teams can match the culture of the area they are located (Oakland being right across the bay from San Francisco and SF was "wine & cheese" while Oakland is "motorcycles and beer." A great quote from that video is a local sportscaster describing the Raider fans saying "they'll pass around a bottle and when it's empty, they throw it at someone." Not to be a spoiler alert; but, back then, the A's fought each other and the Raiders fought everyone. Some big names on those teams ... Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Ken Stabler, and John Madden coached the Raiders. I really think you'd enjoy this one ... GREAT history and good entertainment. If you made it to the end of this novel ... I owe you two a beer. Cheers!

Unfortunately, JJ was "Mr. Glass" after his first few seasons - constantly injured despite his talent. He's only 34 and just retired, and he could've been even more prolific were he not so injury prone. With only 16 (now 17) games in a regular season, he missed 42 games in his last 6 seasons due to injury. Just brutal for such an amazing player.

You all should consider doing Ndamukong Suh highlights (or lowlights to most people). There's a reason why he was probably the most hated and vilified player on the league for like 5 years, him and Burfict. The dude was just straight nasty coming into the league. Dirty, old school "rip the QB's head off" kinda guy who needs to be tamed with fines and suspensions in the modern NFL.

"One of a kind" mannnn I hope you lads cover his younger brother TJ who plays the same position for Pittsburgh. JJ is a bit bigger, TJ is less big, but has better hips, better bend and is much more fluid. Even if you don't do a react video, you'd be doing yourselves a huge disservice if you don't watch his younger brother's highlights. Total freak like JJ. And he's in his prime right now even.

@@DNReacts yes and it was even harder when the coach broke up such a great team that could’ve went far. Jj finally had a really good offense to ease the defensive load. DeShaun Watson (more mobile , slightly less accurate pat mahomes) and deandre hopkins (best hands in nfl) . DHop ended up moving to Arizona and jj ended up moving there as well and at that point it was over for that Texans era. And I remember when JJ first arrived it was so sketchy because we drafted a Wisconsin dline man in the first round but he quickly grew on the city and was so amazing for the team and city.

If you guys want some more defensive players, I got two for you that every football fan adores. Brian and Brian, who were both linebackers. That is, Brian Cushing and Brian Urlacher. Cushing actually played on the Houstons with JJ Watt for some time. Urlacher is a legendary LB who embodies 2000's football. Both of them are absolute psychopaths lol.

3:10 the voice of that "critic" you are hearing is Skip Bayless, who is well-known for having terrible opinions and basically universally disliked in the American sports world. He now has a show with Shannon Sharpe. Maybe would be funny to see y'all react to a video of his worst takes and controversial comments.
