The export units you see there were likely ordered for a customer that cancelled them. Could be consignments from Paccint that are sitting on the lot, or the dealer got stuck with them if they ordered them, , maybe destination changed their rules and they couldn't be shipped. We had a C500 6x6 that was Ero 3, they chaneged to Euro 4 while it was being built, cust had paid for it though, took about 12-13 yrs to sell it, had some offers, cust rejected the offers.They could have stripped the engine out and used it for spares, cab trans, axles, susp was useable on 75 others that were already over there, they wouldn't do it.

In 86 I started hauling from Plattsbugh,ny out Red Bluff,Ca. With an 89 KW t600 cat3406b 425hp 18 spd 3:55. If I ran at a steady 65mph I'd get 5-6 mpg. In 94 I bought a new KW w900 studio cat 3406b 435hp 18 spd 3:55 at 65mph I'd get 4.5-5 depending on wind. In 95 I picked up a used 95 KW t600 aero cab. DD 12.7 430hp 13spd 3:55. All were pre emmisions cats were manual fuel systems. DD was electronic. At 65mph it got 7 mpg. Under 80,000 it push close to 8 mpg. Best thing I did was get out of woods hauling heavy.The 94 cat 435 would leak oil from the turbo.The t600 had small issue with the rubberflaring mounts over the fuel tanks.The 435 would leak a gallon a week. The DD had blow by but used no oil between 8000 mile oil changes. At 870,000 I brought it in to have the over run on it. When they saw the blow by. they they'd do an inframe overhaul. The engine had zero wear anywhere. The piston rings were lined up from a vibration causing the blow by. They only charged Me for the fluids. After that I've been sold on DD.

With the new emissions equipment, these trucks higher chance of having an exhaust leak and pouring carbon dioxide into the cabin and poisoning, or even killing the driver

Buy the trucks from Florida and register in Mexico then drive them in NY. Doubt the DOT would like that tho

If your hell bent on staying away from the new engines as you know today you can go to Cat and with a core they will sell you a NEW Block Cat engine with recon heads & turbo. not a old engine rebuilt. Going to cost you $60,000 but that's the route for you to go. overhauling a engine twice or three times getting up to 2.5 -3 millions miles on the block & spending $40,000 to me is nuts. It's not a NEW Engine

The point is at some point he's going to want newer trucks due to drivers. While some drivers don't care if its an older truck, a lot of these new guys don't care they just want to drive a "brand new" truck.

@@BMW_Mustang_Dodge absolutely, the climate they work in very hard on the frames, rear end housings in rusting away.. The cabs not so much but still salt eats away at them to just slower .Mother Nature wins every time.

Yea. I saw they started building new engines again

Obviously the US can make money selling pre-emissions to other countries while making money on emissions trucks in their own country

Right. Everything gets deleted right away ….. and US pays millions or billions to the Paris climate accord

@@davehughesfarm7983 I had a 12.7 detroit good power 470 hp , but the oil leaks from the bull gear housing and rear cam caps was a problem, other than that good engine but , still 3406 a or b best in my opinion

Time to stop kicking and screaming about emissions. I've got about 700,000 me driving trucks with def. I've got trucks that I drove that were brand new has some with 700,000 miles. I believe and I'm confident in the dd15 platform. Very few emissions issues. My fleet also tried Kenworth and had very bad experience. Try a Western Star 49x what a dd16 I guarantee you'll like it.

I know guys that didn’t have good success with the dd15. They all have their problems …. Also. Otr is much different than what we do.
@haulingfuel47596 ай бұрын
The DD15 is a great motor. If you run good oil and maintain it, no reason not to get a million miles out of it.

I don't know how it works for large trucks, but It's understood hat the majority of a vehicle's emissions are produced during manufacture. I would like to see data on total emissions when trucks are junked with 700k miles on them instead of rebuilding. I think it's very possible more emissions are produced because of shortened lifespan of the trucks. I wonder how the Chevron ruling of Supreme Court affects EPA's authority to require emmissions equipment in the 1st place. Of couse it will take a lawsuit. They would never voluntarily relenquish power. The media would never tell people the logic that I presented, just that the world will end if trucks don't have the emissions equipment.

A environmental study on truck building would be great !!!! But unfortunately they will never do it

All these out of state companies and businesses need to stop kissing californias ass. California must honor legal compliance for out of state vehicles including CMV’s. They can not enforce their rules and regulations on your vehicle as long as it is compliant in your home state. Non permanent modifications or accessories is a different story such as rear detectors, but permanent features such as tint, exhaust etc are considered permanent and California has no jurisdiction to govern your vehicle that is registered in another state so as long as you yourself are not a resident of California.
