Will It Start Diesel? Cummins V8 Diesel Ford Truck

Күн бұрын

In this episode we attempt to to start up the Cummins Diesel V8 903 in the Ford semi truck. It has sat for only a bit over 12 months but still requires some checking over and some batteries. We top up the water and check the oil after fitting some batteries and then we try to start it. It eventually goes but stops again. I then discovered that even though it had fuel in the tank, it was facing downward so the fuel was away from the pickup. I put in some diesel fuel and bleed the fuel system then attempt to start it again. It eventually went again and this time stayed runner. While it was running I use it to move a semi trailer out of the way. We connected up the trailer and moved it to another location and disconnect it and park the truck. Meanwhile our White 4000 Detroit Diesel powered truck is moving the rest of the semi trailers. Come along and see how we go with it all. #tractor #diesel #cummins #truck #semitruck #detroitdiesel #dieselengine #ford #fordtrucks #louisville #abandoned #rust #restoration #truckmechanic #v8 #cumminsdiesel #transport

Hi Kym. I’d rather a 3070 too. I had a base model one and it was great to drive. Just kept getting water in it and couldn’t afford or be buggered to pull it down again for another liner. The Eagles are very nice. One still getting to shows around Sydney here. I will eventually find one mate but certainly no hurry.

The 9000's going great Steve! The v8's nice and smooth. I didn't notice before that yours has the driver's side air intake scoop. Never saw one like that here in Canada. Must be to get it to the 200 mph spec...8^) Anyway great video, I enjoyed it. BTW that rpm increase going uphill sounds like a linkage issue maybe. How are the cab mounts? if there's excess movement there maybe the cab's leaning backward and pulling on the fuel lack linkage. Just a thought. A lot of drivers here in the 1980's on the 9000's complained that the cab mount rubber inserts were too soft in summer and rock hard in winter. I seem to remember that there was a service bulletin from Ford about it but I don't remember the details all these years later.
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder 4 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff. Yes mate I was told that was a Detroit diesel bonnet and the scoop on the other side like my other one is for the Cummins. It must of had a bonnet swap at some stage. Yes it could be the cab moving, but at the same time I’ve had the Cummins do it before, both 6 and 8 cylinders, rev themselves up when running out of fuel. I only put a small amount in it so with it moving around it may have sucked in some air. That’s interesting about the cab mounts in the summer and won’t Jeff. Thanks as always
