I don't have a dog in this fight but my suspicion is that 23XI was formed with the assumption that the charter would not only exist permanently but increases would be tied to performance metrics that were never promised. Thus, their financial model has completely gone bust with the latest charter agreement and the lawsuit is their last stand.

But when other teams who have signed have hinted that the funding doesn’t help their teams operations and that they were forced into signing by nascar, then it’s safe to say 23xi is taking these considerations into play and joining with frm to sue, hopefully to get something better for all teams even if it’s through a settlement.

Private companies set the rules and policies and if you don’t like the rules and policies you are free to leave! I’m far from someone who thinks NASCAR is a great ran company ever since Francs Jr died but, This filed suit is the equivalent of If your employer comes out with a new policy and you refuse to agree with it and sign it, you get terminated. At that point you go work elsewhere OR start your own business like the OP said. Jordan can go start his own racing series if he doesn’t like this one.

@@tritontransport This isn't a criminal suit, it's a civil suit, so your "illegal" argument is nonsensical. A company can very easily create a situation that can be deemed antitrust. Other companies can file a dispute against them. Eg, it wasn't illegal for Microsoft to create Explorer. However, they then engaged in practices that deemed it to be a form of antitrust.

@@allenhartley6078 no one has to pit between stages and a lot of times people actually stay out, it's just strategy, which is actually got better on a lot of tracks after making stage cautions. Without it, most of the races would stil had normal cautions and people would still pit on them, it didn't really change this much now, except teams now know when exactly yellow will come so they actually can do better strategies.

Try fueling up at speed on a short track, not under a NASCAR man made caution laps because Johnny can't keep up and being the woke company they are that's not fair in their eyes.

It's said that the Franz family makes $1.5 billion a year from Nascar. The teams don't make anywhere near that, if they break even that's a plus. The tracks have a hard time paying the purse and making a profit. The cars are no longer stock and the ones that we've had over the past decades are far less than the stock cars that are supposed to be the standard. The rules seem to only apply to those whom are favored amongst the Nascar leaders and the television coverage has gone from following the leaders and telling a story to the battle for 20th. I tell you, the battle for 20th isn't between drivers it's between cars trying to keep from wrecking. There's much to be desired to bring Nascar back to a racing series, currently it seems to be a parade of sponsors and personalities, not drivers and skill.

MJ wants to make money. Chasing the money in NASCAR will be it's ruin. It all started with owner/drivers wanting to win. They made enough to compete again. Eventually some owners and or drivers made out pretty well...but mostly it was the drivers who, instead of being superhuman like in other sports, had a level of crazy and fearlessness that brought fans to the sport. No driver today is lifting early going into turn 1 because they know it might hurt. No driver is worth 10 million plus ( and I'm a kyle busch fan)...no stock car should be worth over a $ million...until they ( owners, drivers, nascar) decide that the fear factor is what will generate the revenue they desire, it's going to continue to shrink and no one will be happy. Drivers, overall, make less than 3% of what Nascar brings in (spread amongst them). It costs about 18 million per year to field a car. The teams aren't even making that much. The number of teams that have folded since charters came in is astounding. The system is so bad, Jr. refuses to buy one. If anyone is destroying Nascar, it's the France family.
