I don't know anything about aviation, but in one shot of the plane. It looked like the right wheel boot was shaking quite a bit. That could be the vibration. Enjoy the show. Good stuff!

1000 feet return to the runway? You don’t know if that is possible until you practice it with a CFI. Every airplane has an altitude where it might make it back and below that you won’t. What is that altitude, you need to determine it. Brian Schiff has a procedure for determine optimum turn back altitude and AOPA Air Safety Foundation did a video on the “Impossible Turn.”. Their take away, depends on the airplane, the environment on that day, and the pilot on that day. I do an FAASafety Seminar on the Impossible Turn and I highly encourage you to practice this with a CFI. Your brief and mind set should be When the engine quiets, not If the engine quiets.

Hi Jason. The last seconds of the video were hilarious; you, speaking to Ch235 as a friend (witch in most cases is), and feeling sorrow for letting her go, is simply touching. I´d like to asume most of the restorations of the 401.5 (401 + 402 / 2) are booring, however, for those who subscribed more than 2 years ago BECAUSE of the 401 Sam gave you, are (at least I am) curious about the progress, therefor a near update will be highly appretate. BTW: the cherokee looks amazing and the upgrade made her better than she was before. Well done to all the crew who put their hands on deck! I wish you well. As always, cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina. Side note: I recomend you and your GF to visit my country once the main projects are done as a reward for your hard work. The food is incredibly good as well as the diferent landscapes to see. Did you know we have one of the most beautifull watterfalls on the planet?
@WilliamEddy-d7y Жыл бұрын
Jason, never push or pull on a prop. There are some aircraft that can be damaged easily (E series Bonanza) but any prop can bend and be out of track with excessive force. Just not a good idea. Since we are all creatures of habit it’s best just not to ever touch it while maneuvering the aircraft.

Porting & polishing should be part of any overhaul imho. Combine that with a tuned Powerflow exhaust for max power boost. I thought the Cherokee 235 had a constant speed prop? It was the predecessor to the Dakota which had a cs prop.
@ThePaulv12 Жыл бұрын
Far out, this thing hammers and it's fixed everything. Just so you can feel really happy, for reference I flew a 200hp PARO (Piper Arrow) which had a CSU and retractable undercarriage that only cruised at 135KIAS @2500rpm and 24-25" manifold pressure at 4500 or 5000' that MIGHT climb at 1200fpm. Funny thing was on a good day you could sometimes get 140-145KIAS at only 22" but that's the constant speed prop advantage I suppose, however for planning it was 135kts. True it was only 4 cylinder, though they do have a fairly high wing loading and get along at a reasonable speed for what they are. Was a great plane in turbulence that Arrow though. It would really punch through with ease.

Thank you for your service brother, I too was injured and was gifted a dog by the Marine Corps League who literally saved my life. Buddy was with me for a long time, helping me learn to walk again and forgive myself for those brothers that I felt guilt for that they did not make it home, when I did. Those who’ve served, know the experience and why one would feel this way. Buddy would sit in front of my wheelchair and bark like crazy until I’d get up and take a real tough lap around the house and he’d do silly things to make me laugh, when I was feeling down, or feeling sorry for myself. God I loved my Buddy, he was my best friend for a long time…. Sadly, he passed away. Our animals become a great part of our family, and most of all they love us unconditionally.
