I don't leave my house without a pocket knife of some kind, & I definitely wouldn't be driving all over the country without at least a cheap Leatherman multi tool for these exact instances. Idk if you flew there and can't fly with a blade, go to Walmart or Home Depot when you land to grab one. A knife & pliers(and maybe a 4-in-1 screwdriver) can save you from being stuck on the side of the road. My EDC is knife (or a razor), flashlight, mini 4in1 screwdriver and now I have a pair of 5" Knipex Cobra's in a sheath(w\ light) which I'd prefer over multi-tool pliers that don't open very wide & usually break(at the neck) when you try using them on something tight or big. Although I never tried the expensive $175 -$200 versions which are probably better but still not as strong as *real* German made Knipex Cobra pliers! These things are so nice I'd never want to not carry them now. 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩💪🏻🤔

I've got a 73 'cuda, and a 67 Fury convertible. My dad bought them both, brand new, and if the two cars had a 100,000 on the engines combined, I'd be surprised. He has extra, engines, mechanical and body parts for both, and even bought paint, for the 'cuda so that we could restore them. We restored a couple car's together in my teens, but I wish that I had paid more attention, because he passed away, just after he purchased his home, and dream garage. It's heart breaking cause, I have a garage full of stuff that I'm trying go through, but, man it's tough. There's so much, I don't even know where to start. Hence, why I love all the information on these channels. Thanks xoxo

I cannot, in any way, give you any grief. I had a 1991 Chrysler Imperial (with the opera window), and the 2.6 Mitsu engine was GOLD! That car would sit at 80 on cruise, and go all day. I was 27 at the time, and the amount of shit I got over that car was incredible. Kind of miss it...

During the beginning of the year I picked up my own service truck. A 94 chevy kodiak, service box, crane, and everything. I had to take the bus, then a train, then a taxi to get it because I couldn’t find anyone to drive me up there (5 hour drive in car, took me 10 hours to get there). It was such an awesome experience. The tires where dry rotted, the tire shop didn’t even want to put air in them. I carried 60 lbs of tools in a bag just in case it broke down. Did an oil change in the parking lot, and headed back. It was such a fun experience. I’d do it again in a heart beat

In 1986 I was in the market for a new car. I was days away from purchasing a 1986 Dodge K car, but I had a two week training course in Toronto so I delayed the car purchase and flew to TO. Rented a Dodge K car, just like the car I planned to purchase. I drove that car for 3 days before I returned it and got a Chevy Celebrity Eurosport. That rental K car was a total P.O.S., it had 2500 KM on it but it rode like a farm truck, everything rattled and twice (for no apparent reason) it wouldn't crank until you shifted the tranny through the gears and back into park (probably a bad neutral safety switch). When I got home, I went to the Chevy dealer and picked up a Celebrity Eurosport. It was 10 years later before I would go back to Chrysler.

86 through 88 I was selling these for Dodge at a dealership. That Mitsubishi 2.6 is a good stout little engine with a real timing chain. There's a turbocharged version of that in the 1987 Dodge conquest it had the 2.6 turbocharged it was made by Mitsubishi sold at Dodge under the name conquest. It was a quick little car but it was tiny and my 6'3 ass was hard to get in. We sold the Dodge glh Omni, 2.2 turbo charge. There was also a Shelby turbocharged edition of these cars as well and they came with special two-tone velor interior with the Shelby insignia. The 87 Dodge ramcharger was a very nice truck. Half and 3/4 ton versions were available and also a 360 HP manual or automatic. Shift on the fly 🥴. I could go on and on but I'm sitting here realizing how damn old I am. Love the show

Family had a K car for a very short time. Grandmother gave us a 92 Dynasty before she stopped driving, drove it for about 2 years. 08 Financial crisis hit, I will remember this for the rest of my life. They sold it for 200$ scrap value because they didn't want to spend 100$ to change the transmission fluid. Miss that car so much, many memories of my late grandmother gone. That wagon is way to nice to chop up and put a HEMI in the back. I'd put a Pentastar with a supercharger in it 400hp no problem. If you want to get a Mopar and put a HEMI in it put one in the 96-2000 Vans.

That Astron 2.6 engine was also used in Mitsubishi Magnas here in Australia from 1984 onwards. Early models were carb, later injected. My mother-in-law had one, and I did an engine swap for her when the oil pump drive chain broke and the Roadside Assistance guy blew the engine revving it thinking that would restore oil pressure. One option for modding the Town and Country is what I was considering doing after crawling around under it - get a parts car with a matching working drivetrain, cut the engine compartment section out of it complete with all the suspension mounting points, graft it into the rear of the wagon and have an 8 cylinder 5.2 litre AWD wagon. Just need to lock the steering on the rear and build an engine cover over the rear motor to seal out the heat and fumes, and my finishing touch was going to be chopping up a bunch of old suitcases to attach to the rear engine cover so it just looked like you had the rear seat folded down and the back full of luggage.

I remember those. One family at church had the Labarron wagon (rear wheel drive) with the wood, another family had a K-car, they were a big family, thought had a third seat, or as was normal then, sat on the back floor🤣, no belts, so long as every belt had someone using it. My brother had the "sporty" two door K with a stick shift, not sure if 3 or 4 speed. Will be a sad moment when you take the cutting wheel to this historical unit. Only a moment, will be good when your done I'm sure. 👍👍

Rich, I've got an 84 Omni GLH with a non turbo 2.2. It can cruise at 85mph no problem, its a runner

Just get some stick on wood grain shelf liner to "repair" the rear gate panel. It will work!

As the former owner of a brand new 82 Reliant, and current owner of a 79 TC3, an 83 Shelby Charger, an 85 Omni, and a 91 Horizon, may I openly opine that there is no such thing as a “legitimate K-Car???”

3.0 V6 and a 5-speed manual are available for the equivalent Australian made Mitsu Magna for which the 2.6 "Astron II" was the base engine.

That Mitsubishi is the legendary Astron 2600. With a stock bottom end and turbo will make 300hp reliably. If you build the bottom end, which is relatively cheap in America thanks to DSM, and update the intake manifold and injection you could comfortably make 650hp+. In early 2000's Australian wrecking yards, you'd be able to pull one of these out of a sigma or better still a Magna (better intake, injection and ECU), strap on a turbo and go racing for under $1000.

My mom drove a white 89 Chrysler labaron with dark blue interior for several years. My dad finally got tired of constantly working on it 2 head gaskets, 4 or 5 water pumps, and several timing belts later so they traded it in for a extended cab S10.

Had a great little 2 dr hard top one. Had factory bucket seats, console shifter,2.5 engine. Realy sporty for an 80's shit box. Maroon on maroon drove good and surprisingly comfortable. Paid $300 for it and drove it to work for years.

I'd figure out how to adapt the AWD drivetrain from a Chrysler minivan, along with a big turbo.

The K car is probably like our Mitsubishi Sigma in Aus. Everyone knew someone who had one which incidentally had the same 2.6L Astron engine driving the rear wheels.

First of it's a wagon so you gotta buy it. Second, the 2.2 are not bad. I had a lancer shelby turbo 5 speed. Great MPG and good power. The CSX variable vane turbo shelby's are legit.

First year K Cars had VW sourced motors, then the Chrysler engines, the wagons and Minivans got the Mitsubishi sourced 2 6 for a bit of extra kick before the 3.8 V6 cam out. All remarkably durable engines if maintained.

In my case, it was my grandfather that had one, just the basic 4 door sedan with a brown paint, as a daily. We'd go up to Sauble Beach with it, on roadtrips. Then when my dad needed a daily for work until he got himself another car, so my dad drove it for a bit to get to work. As much as I wasn't a fan of the K-body exterior styling, it was super comfortable on long trips, and it wasn't plastic fantastic in the interior.

My parents had THAT car in white with the red interior. And my idea for a mid-engine Mopar was a 2004 Neon with the drivetrain from a 2004 300M Special.

I’m thinking 5.7 hemi mid mount. Or the biggest you can find for budget ( no replacement for displacement) looks like a cool project. But I like weird stuff.😂😂

To fix the wood grain panels, use self stick wall paper that has the look of wood. It works great.
