Friedkin was such a showman... the timing, the jokes. There's few directors able to put a smile on my face everytime I hear them.

I was at this screening! This took place ten years ago in the summer of 2014 at the vista theater before they screened the 4K restoration!!! Sat in the same row as Friedkin and Hooper with a good friend of mine. Unforgettable experience. Hard to believe we’re now in the 50th anniversary. Rest in Peace to two titans!

What an incredible showman Bill Friedkin was.... he could've done stand-up comedy if he wanted to. Never tired of listening to him and the brilliant uncensored way he talks. Hooper is an amazing director too but he's really quite bad with words.

Both men directed films that stand the test of time. Both of them made films that are in my top 10 favourite films of all time. Sorcerer is one of the most compelling films ever. Tobe Hooper had a real talent for crafting a film. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Eaten Alive (aka Death Trap) and The Funhouse are so well-crafted.

The architects of two films I was forbidden by law in the UK from seeing for decades and when I finally saw them I was rightfully blown away. To see them both together here is a true gift.

It’s ironic that Friedkin called TCM the scariest movie ever made when Tobe Hooper always said it was a dark comedy. People also perceive The Exorcist as the greatest horror movie when William Friedkin says it’s not a horror movie, but to him it’s a family drama. 😂 Both made the two best horror movies in the genre, period.

For me, Friedkin's The Exorcist is the most Catholic movie ever made. It's a movie that deals with the most powerful thematic aspects in storytelling, the battle between good and evil, between God and the devil/satan. While it may seem bleak and dark in terms of the film’s tone or atmosphere, it's actually optimistic. I love the slower pacing and mood, as well as the photographic style.

On the Salem's Lot blueray commentary track by Hooper he mentions that he and William at one time we're going to do Salem's Lot togeather, with himself directing and William producing. Wow! What a darn picture that would have been!! But, Salem's Lot directed by Tobe Hooper has become a television horror classic in its own right. 🙂👌👌🙏🙏
