I loved when you mentioned this part 10:36 - 10:44: Where the signalman explained the precise distance he has halted railway traffic so as to prevent a potential collision. That was good because the runaway engine, like in real life, wouldn't crash with other trains until it was slowed down.

A single lamp on top of the smokebox denotes a stopping passenger train. Headcodes were how signalmen identified trains before the electronic age.

I love these comparisons. Good to see you putting so much effort into them for our amusement. Here are some other observations: *Saved From Scrap:* In the book, Edward is pulling a passenger train when he sees the vicar and begs him to buy Trevor. In the episode, he's pulling a goods train straight from the scrapyard to Wellsworth station, thus implying that everything that happened in that sequence all happened at the same time. *Old Iron:* As you have mentioned, Wellsworth has three platforms - two for the main line and the other one for Edward's branch line. Also, I only noticed this after I first watched this video a few weeks ago: the inspector is wearing the same uniform that most other railway employees wear. Not only that, as he's trying to swing the noose over James's buffer, his hat stays on his head the whole time! This never occurred to me until a few weeks ago! 😂

Crocks Scrap Yard is actually located just outside Wellsworth on the Main Line in the Railway Series but down Edward's branch a ways in the TV series.

Fun fact: Bertie's number plate in the illustrations for "Bertie's Chase" (CRD 54) is a reference to the book's illustrator (C. Reginald Dalby) and the year the book was published (1954). In the television series, Bertie would not receive this number plate until Series 23, where he and Bulgy were given number plates and more realistic detail (along with Thomas, Gordon, James, Percy and Emily).

3:44 - 3:50 When the narrator said, "Gordon felt somehow that Edward saw only too well!" it felt to me that Gordon and Henry have learnt their lesson of never teasing Edward about the cows and that everyone, especially myself since I loved him more as a kid, was on his side and giving him support and protection from tease and harm. Plus, from what it said, Edward knew everything more than the others put together😆

Something worth noting: In the book version of Bertie's Chase they're running along the Main Line between Knapford and Wellsworth, whereas in the adaptation they're going along Edward's Branch Line from Wellsworth to Upper Brendham.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the extra episode that was added after Saved from Scrap that was not added in the Railway Series called A New Friend for Thomas (although I think that has more to do with Thomas than with Edward but it is still a nice extra inclusion that they added in the show to express Trevor becoming friends with Edward's friends like Thomas rather than just Edward himself and I'm surprised it wasn't at all added in the Railway Series actually). Also, I'm surprised at the end of the video there when you talked about the extra dialogue of the story Old Iron in the book at the end, you didn't mention Thomas or Henry in the background when we clearly saw them together racing each other.

12:59 Edward’s smile is still sweet as he is but now it’s kind of horrifying too especially with the music and atmosphere and right after you said all the engines whistled so loud they burst The Fat Controller’s eardrums. Seriously if Edward was a killer or scary at least he’d probably give us a 10 second or a few minute head start to start running and give us motivation while we’re running for our lives. (The rest of the engines shouldn’t have whistled so loudly or The Fat Controller should’ve been standing further away or have earplugs handy. Is he The Deaf Controller in the books now?) (Okay that was in poor taste, I’m sorry, I really am.) (And it’s not Edward’s fault that happened, even though that at the end even though it’s not canon makes me question this sweet kind engine which is interesting, Edward’s smile isn’t intimidating so it’d be a little less scary to get murdered in a horror movie by Edward if he was the killer.) (And I just said something weird or off.)

I don't like a lot of the series 2 adaptations because they feel rushed. This is especially true for the likes of *Old Iron* and *Edward's Exploit.* And there's also a lot of additional filler dialogue, either to provide a bit of context that you wouldn't get in the book or to shoehorn Thomas into an episode of "his" show that he otherwise wouldn't have featured in (Saved From Scrap and Bertie's Chase).

And the TV had it badly wrong there in the Henry/cow episode. To back up, presumably without authorization, all the way to the previous station would be a major breach of regulations and would probably result in disciplinary action, if not instant dismissal, for the train crew. Yet another instance of how the TV producers sometimes played fast and loose with basic safety regulations, something that the Rev Awdry himself was reportedly not happy about
