For anyone outside the UK, this might be a good point (heh heh) to mention the British habit of calling a ballpoint pen a "biro". The first functional ballpoint was invented by the Hungarian László Bíró and his name stuck here as a generic term for those pens, so please don't be confused if anyone asks to borrow your biro, unless it's Lee Mack, in which case it's fine to tell him to find one himself.

Here’s a thought- carry a cheap pen with your good pen that you don’t want to lose and when a friend or colleague asks to borrow a pen you loan them the cheap pen and don’t have to stress about your good pen 😎

When I worked in an office, I used Pilot G-TEC-C4 pens. They were in lots of different colours and I would choose a different colour each time I had to write something in my diary. This made it easier to see where one diary entry ended and the next one began.

You have to remember that they have been doing this program for years with about 9 or 10 shows a season. Since Lee and David pretty much get a card every show, there just can't be that many yrue stories about their lives that they can do. David's turns of phrase are brilliant. "That pen was dead to me," "In an effort to make myself seem..normal would be an exaggeration."

I am very particular about my pens. I have two Parker ballpoints in a leather pouch, one with blue ink and one black. I also have a Parker fountain pen. When I am at my desk, I use pencils. I wouldn't lend pens out.

I've been using Papermate pens for 40 odd years, simply because they will continue to work if you're leaning on a vertical surface or even upside down!

A lot of people can't use fountain pens properly and won't ask for one because they look silly trying to use them, getting covered in ink. The old refillable types are very sturdy, the cartridge refill is just a disposable pen trying to be reusable...

Cats Do Coutdown! :D Now those episodes would be loooong! Mind maniulation! ALWAYS carry a 'good looking' fake pen (to you) that you don't mind losing. In Jodie's case a nice one but with the tip slightly bent. You can still wait for it back and make sure you get it back, but you won't sit there worried about it in the mean time :)

It's a fine line with ones like this. Basically it's a choice of something David made up or something the production staff made up I'd have a pen management policy where I'd replace a pen as soon as it started to run out, but keep the old one for lending out. That would also justify collecting pens wherever possible as it would at least add to my stock of B graders.

My daughter worked for a solicitor a few years back and she brought this very posh pen home.She went to work the next morning and I couldn't resist picking up the said pen she left on the table.Now this was after close inspection a rather good quality pen and believe it or not it even had a little light on the end if you needed to use when dark to put your key in the front door.I don't remember how it got into my small box off similar items hidden on top off my wardrobe but I do take it out occasionally and admire it .😊

A few references in future programmes to Lee's trustworthiness and a lot of fun , I remember back to bygone days we had a teacher who wouldn't accept work unless done with a fountain pen , and one class where we had nib pens and actual inkwells on the desk . Thank God for the modern roller ball which combines the precision of the ever failing biro with the elegance of a real pen .I think there was a clue when David called it a BBC pen , but I really enjoyed your reactions and Jody would be good at this , still not sure about her pen policy .

Easier to make notes while having notes on the phone, shopping lists, sudden idea flashes (which will otherwise lose for ever) ect. The reason it was short is because it was the final round of the show before the winners were revealed. Round 1: Home Truths. The standard truth/lie format you're used to (Sometimes including a "Possession" card introducing a prop). Round 2: This Is My... A guest comes on and all 3 members of a team claim to know them. Guess which one. Round 3: Quick-Fire Lies. Same as round 1 but generally quicker to record and edited extra short to speed through a few different panellists. This is where Lee and David usually pull their own cards.

Saying "no need" is an exagerration. Having pen and paper lying about can always come in handy. Even for something as simple as leaving a note for someone, a neighbour maybe. There are plenty valid reasons they still get used.
