I get home from the gym, I shower, and I turn on my Sam Sulek video of the day while I cook dinner. (I enjoy the act of routine of cooking which is why I cook versus prepping food.) And I just listen to and watch Sam as I cook and its just so lovely. This is seriously a main part of my daily routine. Love these daily uploads.

I've been training for 10 years, but I could never break the 160 pound barrier. I was one of those "I have a fast metabolism, I can't get weight". At 25 years old I am making sure I started tracking calories and realised that eating 3500 calories is a lot more than i taught and I that i was probably more in the 2500 maintaining zone before. In Juna i was 143 pounds, I am now at 162, still gaining a steady 1 pounds per week.

Sam, I love your videos. I recently did my bloodwork, and my Hemoglobin A1C was scary high. I was pre-diabetic. I am completely natural. I love your approach about not going into drugs or natural status. I did not realize that the carb intake for natural is different for people who take insulin. It is very dangerous to eat 500+ grams of carbs daily when you do not take insulin. Your body can't use all these carbs, so they spike your blood sugar and increase insulin resistance. You can do cardio that will offset the carbs, but you would have to burn enough calories that you would not be in a surplus. This can very easily lead to diabetes. This is just for everyone here; please do yearly bloodwork as a regular practice.

Sulek, dawg, that was awesome. Serious leg pressing. I perfectly agree, four sets would be awesome. From the videos it looked like eight days since last leg workout, but you said you hit legs on some other video. Yeah once a week is usually good. You workout legs enough to not be sore in seven days. Really nine days is kind of a bad idea so it's easy to overdue a leg workout once you know how. Here's a trick to extend your reps in a set in a legpress: take longer to breathe from the get go and make sure you don't breathe to hard that's what lowers reps due to the muscle not being able to fully contract-works for legs especially but even arms (sometimes an exercise doesn't have a good rest position like overhead tricep extension). For the sets I think you'd hit them warming up properly and then going to leg press first. Yeah do four of those sets and then try leg curls and leg extensions (probably be careful got lighter and go for squeeze more). Thing is if you learn how much further you can push legs than other muscles then you can get done with the workout and you'll be walking but the body knows it's somehow in big trouble--like so much muscle mass got hit and so much blood and nutrients are headed that way. Your legs should only feel good on leg day before the leg workout.

Hey, Sam! Just knitpicking here as you talked about "complete proteins". You'd be surprised by where certain proteins actually rank on the PCDAAS score which is the scale you're refering to. Meat and soy* (depending on its concentration) actually rank the same and egg protein and milk proteins are actually the best and highest ranking. You're absolutely right about wheat protein as well as lentil protein being low ranking due to only about 50% "completeness". Love the videos!

@@PandasUNITE well I mean he has really consistent views is what i meant , always 500k + . He’s also been lifting for a long time and is very knowledgeable about nutrition and health ? He just has a very unorthodox approach and always tells people to not just do what he’s doing but what’s best for them . Something tells me you’ve seen a couple videos or clips and just instantly decided to hate on the guy because he doesn’t do everything by the book . He’s not for you and that’s okay!

I used to be stuck at 145 lbs couple years ago. I would eat 5 meals a day and a protein shake after daily (even threw up one time). I made the gains of about 10 pounds, but maintaining that was awul. It decreased my quality of life by being stressed eating all the time. Working out is supposed to make your life better, so now i just eat normally and drink protein shakes after a workout and i take creatine before a workout. I'm older now and easily hit 170 pounds with not even thinking about eating properly and i take vyvanse which makes my appetite go down. In otherwords if i really wanted to gain weight, i could probably hit 185 with less effort than i had to eat when i was 145. (I'm 27)

Due to my job, I got no choice but to start lifting at 430 or 5am fasted. But I make sure I have some carbs for my last meal the night before. Been doing this since 2019. The only challenge is doing my cardio when i get home. Too taxed. Most of the time I'll hit cardio on weekends or the occasional WFH Thursday. Anyway, good on Sam and everyone else who's showing up and putting in the work.
