Hi Debra I really like the quality of that new tent! It looks like a heavier more durable grade for winter! Insulated better around the doors and the hatchback! Definitely good campsite for privacy at this point! I’m hoping for a mild winter like we’ve been having here in the Midwest! Yes, that Napier company should compensate for your promotion of their company! Thank you for sharing your new tent and preparation for winter! You definitely prepare ahead and hopefully you can leave your tent up for awhile before moving and reassembling in a new campsite! I appreciate your videos and how you put forth your content! Have an Eskimo insulated tent. It is not an overt SUV tent but large and easy to put up, plus, with a good tarp and a couple of grommets, it is easy to create a solid connection between the 2. If you have a split on a tent pole small hise clamps work a rreat. Good fortune and health.
@bertkelly76502 ай бұрын
I have the back roads companion tent. (junk, grommets fell apart, leaked when rained). This one looks much better. For help getting the rain fly on, use one of those poles to help get the fly over the top. Works for me.

I love your set up. BTW, those guy lines attached to the four corners are meant to tie your tent down to stakes so your tent is secure in wind. One suggestion, put your stakes into the corners to secure it and square it up before you try to raise your tent.

How about using the hatch back door and the back of the car to "hold up" the one end after you put the cross bars on the top to hold the tent as you put the side poles on. You can loosely attach the car fly and adjust as necessary.
@caseyjones179421 күн бұрын
Great Tent. I was wondering if it would help with staking out the bottom of the tent before trying to put the side poles up. This way the connection areas stay in place while you try to connect everything. This is something I see Luke do on TheOutdoorGearReview channel. I have a 14 x 16 3 room tent with the same metal poles that I can put up alone. I leave the poles collapsed, and I raise 1 at a time, going around the tent to the first joint for a "low" tent, then make next round to the next joint on the pole. Next, I drape the rain-fly, then raise the poles again, going around. Secure the clips and strings. Take down in reverse. Raising the poles in increments makes it possible to do it alone. God bless!

Wish you all the best. This does not seem like an easy life. Wish you could have seen "mini van camper gal" easy, 1 person set up tent. Maybe you could switch out. One thing I noticed new YTers have in common is redundancy. You say what you're going to do, then do it. Why not just do it? Just an idea. I think the videos would come off more like a vlog and a story rather than a check off list. I just think that gets old and is not very interesting. And yes, I'm subbed. Hannah, Isabel, Maria, and other well known yters just launch in and do the thing. I find that makes a good interesting video. Story telling is truly an art. All the best🎉

Enjoying your journey.. I tent camp out of my s u v as well Not full time. But I may do a long trip next summer. I have a detached tent that's an absolute cinch to put up. I Just do not have the patience esp. When they are making many tents now a very easy setup. I can't speak for s u v tents.. But regardless that tent was way too much of a pain as far as i'm concerned. I check in with you as soon as I see your videos so i'm sorry to be critical,but It was a tedious video to watch. If that's the best they can do with SUV tents, I would say the juice is not worth the squeeze. I have never seriously considered an SUV tent ( It seems claustrophobic to me) But I am Still open that it may have its benefits long term. So I will see what you think over time. Thanks for sharing your journey.

You’re probably be able to put up this tent by yourself but I bought this exactly tent and unfortunately even thought I rainproof it before use, we got rain inside. This structure doesn’t help to keep inside dry, I think. Hope you’ll be luckier than us especially in an area not extremely cold as you said but more humid and rainy. I think but it’s only my opinion, a 4 season tent would serve you more. At least you could install a space heater for colder night that would help keep the interior more comfortable and less damp. Wish you the best!

As a suv tail tent camper can you please show how this one closes up when suv is not attached. Is it just a drawstring closer? Newbies may not know that you can leave the tent set up if you need to leave. I have 2 different suv tents 1 is like the tail vail which is mainly netting it does have a rainfly but you can't pullaway with suv. And jfyi the tail vail type tent it's definitely not a cold weather tent i tried it 1 night it got down to 40 F & it was cold it held no heat from the day🤣 and you can't close your suv hatch because the tent will collapse. Lesson learned 🥶😂 Thanks for sharing how your new tent goes up. And yes Napier needs to sponsor you & design a 4 season suv tent too😂.
@NorthofSomewhereNomad2 ай бұрын
@revyred8679 I will definitely show how that works - detaching the tent and how that process works. I also considered the tail veil, but likewise felt it was too flimsy, especially heading into winter. I have also bought things that didn't work out. Those are tough lessons for sure.
