Hey guys, here are a couple tricks I have learned through the years on how to keep my rod and reel ice free, and bring a little extra heat to warm up with. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Hey John I thought of instead of rain-ex you could use the DIY car windshield de-over. Equal parts of rubbing alcohol, vinegar and water in a spray bottle

I too like winter fishing. In my younger days, I actually fished tournaments in sub freezing temps. Older now, it’s a lot more of a challenge due to normally low blood pressure which causes me to get cold very quickly. Meaning, I’d probably hog the heat source. LOL

I've tried ice fishing a few times but it took for ever to chop a hole in the ice large enough to launch the boat.

I also use a tin can like yours but I poke holes at the bottom to keep air flowing and also at the top so I can cook on there!

You know I never thought of using charcoal that's brilliant

I’ve fished thru the ice for many years and have used monofilament line in the winter. I used to put products on my gear to keep ice off but found by doing that,it kept the fish off too. Some of my gear has reels but I gave up on them because of icing. Know I pull the fish up using just the line, no rods or sticks. No ice doing it that way.

Dude WD40 eats rubber , you won't notice it at first but it will mess up your reel ! Learned the hard way myself , screwed up a couple knifes and reels when I was younger ! 👍

Hmm, I will keep an eye out William. I have not had any issues, I learned this from some of the old timers I fish with and they said they been doing it for years. Thanks for the heads up man, if there are problems I will definitely update this info.

Best way bar none that iv,e found to keep ice from forming on your line and eye,s when reeling in ,is to submerge your rod and reel under water and reel your fish in with everything completely under water.Work,s like a charm for me.A real pluss to using this method is after you catch a fish you enjoy the heat from the stove a lot more.ha.ha.

Tried ice fishing once. Caught a few fish but didn't catch any ice. Musta been the bait.

Hey John just asking, you don't have any problems with the WD40 messing up your reel gears. My grandpa alway told me me to keep that stuff away from the reel.
@RegularDudeFishing6 жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues with it so far. I have heard of some dudes having issues, but all I can do is speak for myself bro.

Regular Dude Fishing you're right man and you know what I just thought of, We had them 303 closed reels with plastic gears. The reel you have there should have metal ball bearings. Great tips, love the channel see you in the next one sir.

Correct me if I’m wrong… that’s WD40 silicone spray?
@paulswanson81896 жыл бұрын
Some folks spray WD40 on their bait as an attractant when it’s a slow bite.
