Allways good for a laugh.. When screwing into hardwood, or wood that is tough, put a bit of soap on the threads, it will just slide in.

I live in a very old apartment building. For many years, we lived with wooden windows and a wooden balcony door, which never shut properly and were very drafty. It can go as low is -40 here in the winter, so ever fall, we would put cotton wool and bits of cloth into every crack and put tape over every window and the balcony door. We've finally saved up enough money to replace everything, so we don't have to do that anymore, but the process of taping up windows is very familiar to me.
