The biggest thing with wired vs wireless that should have been talked about much more in this video, is weight. I'm a very competitive gamer, and like everyone, I hate wires.. So obvious choice for me was to go wireless. I bought some wireless mouse a few years ago, and with all the weights out, it weight made me very un-confident when aiming. So if anyone is considering wireless mice, check the weight of whatever mouse you like most. There are very light wireless mice now, but they're more expensive.

A big feature to consider: hot-swappable switches. If you've had to deal with double-clicking and issues dragging something, you've dealt with a bad switch for the buttons. Without hot-swappable design, you'd have to physically unscrew and unsolder the switch from the mouse's PCB. Asus mice are an easy no-brainer as far as durability and heavy usage goes.

Went from Logitech G502 after 7 years to Basilisk Hyperspeed (wireless). I wanted a wireless G502 but that thing is insanely over priced (for mouse and charger) I also wanted something 'new' feeling after so many years. I than seen the basilisk and thought it was close enough to the G502 to buy it. Paid $35 I miss the few extra buttons but I've been more or less pleased with the mouse. A few issues of it not waking after going to rest from inactivity but beyond a minor annoyance in the moment I've not much cared about that. Bought a 4 pack of rechargeable lithium batteries and I'm set, honestly not noticed any increase in latency at all I mean in the 4 months I've owned it so far.

Biggest reason to go wired? Avoiding drivers and software from OEMs and something that will *always* work
@Aikano9
@Aikano9 2 жыл бұрын
No need to install drivers or software for wireless mice. Wireless are just as reliable. Besides you only need to replace battery, or charge it for a few min, while you eat, or sleep maybe once every few months. Battery life is incredibly good. I see no reason to go wired except maybe cost, but even so, great wireless mice aren’t that expensive, unless you for the best of the best.

I've been completely wireless for years. Partly because I have young cats, the aesthetic, and that I need to clear my desk for things either to put a notebook or big binder on it or to tinker with stuff like guns and stuff from time to time. Being able to freely move my mouse and keyboard wherever I need to to make room is pretty big. If you're going wired I would at least recommend getting peripherals that can unplug from the cable.

Note with wireless on bluetooth. I notice when I am running heavy applications (video edit, hard to run game) the mouse movement on bluetooth becomes inconsistent and skips around, whereas when I plug the USB-C cable in even during the computer lagging the mouse still moves around smoothly. Guess it's to do with USB mouse being more fundamental part of computer so gets priority over other stuff, whereas bluetooth isn't so gets laggy with computer.

What do you think about the new hyperx pulsefire haste wireless? It's crazy that it just weights 61g, just 2g heavier than its wired honeycomb counterpart. I rarely unplug my current wireless mouse anymore as I don't feel much of a difference with those braided cables anyway. I for one am quite the fan of those holes you get with lightweight mice. Veery slightly for the grip, though they do feel grippier thanks to the holes, but my biggest argument here is the open feel they give. My hands get sweaty as hell and I can really feel the difference on my mm710. And I do have other comparisons. Got a pink EC2B, which is probably the worst offender due to the shiny case, an mm720, a Viper mini and Zy's MZ1. And well, while the 720 does have holes they are a lot smaller and the sides are closed off completely, so my hands still heat up using it. Well also have the Deathadder mini but that's just silly. Only got it since it was really damn cheap. Heh. Anyway, case in point I keep returning to the 710 since it's just the best shape for my hand, and since I can use it for a long time. And just to hammer this home, all (but the deathadder) were given the 2 week treatment.

I just changed to a ROG Chakram wirless and there's no difference between a wired and wireless mouse in terms of performance, but i got the beneficials of not having a cable at every moment and even if i needed it, it can be charged?used with one cable, so it-s the best of both worlds. I even went with the ROG Balteus Qi to charge my mouse when i'm playing with a controller or going out to eat, so it charges right next to my setup eliminating the need for a cable for my wireless mouse.

Are there any wireless mice that have both bluetooth and a dongle without a AAA battery? I see the logtitech G603. But I don't see why id replace my Model D- with it. It being too big and too heavy are not worth the lack of a wire. If it were lighter, maybe I could overlook the size issue. But the only real reason to get a wireless mouse is so I don't need two. The switch between bluetooth and a dongle is required.

I like the idea of the mesh back mice as my mouse hand seems to be the warmest part of my body while gaming. I am really hoping they will soon include an internal fan as there seems to be plenty room in the mesh design, maybe a 30-40mm fan would fit. Obviously it would add weight, but not enough to outweigh the benefit for a gamer like me. Anyone else suffer from sweaty mouse hand?

The logitech wifi system is really good and latency is extremely low, that said... I play on bluetooth. Maybe I am lucky or something, but bluetooth connection on that mouse is very good, sure it isn't wired or wifi quality but it's absolutely 100% enough for anything short of super sweaty and competitive. The only reason I switch to the wifi dongle is to use it on other PC's/laptops lol. The only bad thing about this mouse is G hub, this software is atrocious, it's cluncky, very disorienting and in general a pain to use when compared to old Logitech Gaming software. I am confused between g305 and razer viper mini. I have heard that g305 is back heavy, gets double click issue and also it has ptfe feet but viper mini has virgin grade ptfe feet, which glides better than g305's feet. so what do you think about these issues?

I always go wired when possible, controllers, computers, laptops. I'll never be in a situation when PC gaming where I wouldn't be close enough to the monitor where wireless would be needed. I also hate batteries and/or recharging. I've had more problems with wireless things than wired. Even tools as a homeowner. I can pick up a tool or controller after not using for extended periods of time and I know its going to work just by plugging it in. I've thrown away so many batteries, one-use and rechargeable, over the years on things that came wireless (xbox controllers, kids toys, etc)

2:50 is nonsense.. wireless dongles are USB-A too. - You will need a USB-C to A-Hub with either technology for most notebooks these days.

I would go wireless, but for some reason it is hard to find a wireless with enough buttons. I don't need those featherweight FPS mice (I actually like a bit of heft to my mice), but I just cannot go back to a three button mouse after living with my Razer Naga Hex and it's 14 buttons and custom profiles for each game.

@@Miskatonic-University Logitech makes nice mice. I especially like their scrollwheels. They have a great feel to them. I just think we must be in the minority though. These mouse round ups or comparisons always seem to be about those super lightweight "FPS" mice. To the exclusion of mice to other types of folks.

I personally dont care about RGB in generel not only on mouse, i always turn that shit off, wired or wireless. Also i feel like you failed to mention of the possible downside to wireless when going to LAN, i once had a Razer orachi at a lan, and the connection sometimes went to shit.

Since when- did a wireless version G502 cost nearly $200? I went to go replace my old one an' just about dropped a deuce upon seeing the price. I swear I paid no more than $130 for the old one. And It's both wired & wireless.

One thing to think about with wireless mice is that lithium for the batteries needs to be mined, which can be pretty environmentally damaging. Especially as there's already high demand with the increasing EV car, smart phone production.

I just wish we had more options for wireless mmo mice (the ones with the 12 keys like the naga and scimitar) as right now the only option as far as i can tell is the naga pro which has a further inflated price because of it having 3 swappable button layouts. Thing costs $150 vs the $100 price tag of the wired version which is just insane, especially compared to something like the corsair scimitar (only comes in wired) is $20 less than the naga at $80 since it doesn't have the 2 extra button layouts that would just collect dust or end up in the trash for 99% of users.
